"Israel is our home. As Jews, we’ve longed to return here for 2,000 years, so how could I pass up the opportunity? When I came for my gap year of yeshiva, during COVID, I called my mom after just a week and told her I was making Aliyah. Deep down I knew I belonged here and wanted to build my family in Israel. I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and now live in the Ramat Shilo community of Ramat Beit Shemesh. Recently, I became a mortgage broker and created a WhatsApp group called Ready Set Bayit. As my wife and I began our own home search, I saw a need for a central place to view listings simply. I built a view-only chat for buyers, with verified real estate agents posting available properties. When a buyer sees something they like, they message the agent directly, streamlining the process of finding and purchasing a home. During the war with Iran, my wife was at the end of her pregnancy. It was surreal to think about bringing a child into that reality. Still, we felt tremendous pride knowing that even as our enemies sought to destroy us, we were building the next generation. One of my favorite only in Israel moments: I once dropped off paperwork at a random office building in Tel Aviv. As I was leaving, a man in a kippah knocked and asked, 'Want to be the tenth for Mincha?' He led me to a small makeshift shul downstairs, and a few minutes later I was davening with strangers. You can be in the most random place, and Jewish life still finds you. Nothing ever goes as expected. But you have to learn to roll with the punches, hustle, and advocate for yourself like an Israeli. At the end of the day, you’re living in a country filled with your brothers and sisters, and if you open your arms, you’ll be surprised by what that can look like." - Yitz Taragin #LiveLoveIsrael #Israel #Aliyah #WelcomeHome

“My grandmother was from Petah Tikva before moving to the U.S., and I dreamed of coming back to build my life here. In 2016, after graduating from the University of Minnesota, I came to Petah Tikva to teach English through a @masaisrael program. Within months, I knew I was home. The next summer I made Aliyah and moved to Jerusalem. I worked as a waitress and started the international Master of Public Health program at @hebrewuniversity. After some time I decided to switch from the International MPH program to the Israeli one to improve my Hebrew and integrate more. At the start it was very overwhelming. I would sit in class with a recording device and a pocket notebook where I’d jot down every unfamiliar word. Over time it got easier and I noticed I was actually becoming familiar with Israeli health jargon. I realized that while I enjoy research, my true passion has always been helping people directly. I rekindled my dream of becoming a dentist which I had initially given up after making Aliyah. I had assumed that with only two dental schools in the country, my not yet fluent Hebrew, and a very competitive application process I would never get accepted. I was inspired by the healthcare professionals around me who could help people directly and I realized that I wanted to help people find their smile. I started to study for the Psychometry, applied, and was accepted to dental school at @telavivuni. Since moving to TLV, life has had its challenges but has also been rewarding. I married my Israeli husband, had two amazing children, and have been slowly but surely working towards my dentistry degree. In our student clinic, we treat patients under the close supervision of experienced specialists and dentists. We're exceptionally thorough, explain every procedure, and make dental care an approachable and accessible experience. Students are responsible for finding their own patients and I'm currently welcoming new cases! If you or someone you know is looking for attentive, high-quality dental care at a reduced rate, I'd love to treat you in our Tel Aviv clinic! It was such a privilege to be representing Anglo Doctors in Israel - ADII for the very first time at the MEDEX conference in London today. The event was a huge success - with a palpable feeling of excitement, energy and dreams! Over 130 doctors and medical students came to explore their options in Israel, and the day was expertly executed - thanks to the incredible teams at Nefesh B' Nefesh and IMAP. To be sitting proudly amongst representatives of massive healthcare employers and government offices, was surreal. The rate in which our grassroots organisation supporting olim doctors has grown in the last year has blown me away. We have gone from a modest WhatsApp group to a massive, strong 700+ network of fantastic, aspirational physicians across Israel and a real player in the field of Aliyah and Integration. Our stand was constantly buzzing, with so many doctors and medical students coming over to chat - we got to meet ADII members who I'd been in contact with over WhatsApp and welcome new members to the fold. The feedback we got was amazing - with so many so grateful to have found their clan, and to feel that someone who understands them, has got their back. It was an encouraging reminder that the network, resources and support that we offer is so incredibly valuable and fills a very real gap in the medical Aliyah process. We are immensely grateful to Nefesh B'Nefesh for recognising the need for our community and supporting & encouraging us to keep building and strengthening ADII. And big appreciation to my husband Mikey Lebrett for sticking by my side and helping to turn my dreams and visions into something concrete. --- Anglo Doctors in Israel is the grassroots community providing all olim doctors with support, connections and resources to build a thriving career in Israel. www.anglodoctorsisrael.com
