I attended the Antisemitism Policy Trust Conference at the impressive Lancaster House in London yesterday, representing the Jewish Rail Network (JRN), thanks to the JewishERGs.
Brought together by the incredible mensch Lord Mann, more than 400 attendees and nine government ministers were there to discuss how we strengthen Jewish life and tackle anti-Jewish hate in Britain.
The programme included Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP, Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP, Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, Chris Elmore MP, Florence Eshalomi MP, Karin Smyth MP, Kate Dearden MP and Sarah Jones MP, alongside Lord Mann and many other speakers from across different sectors.
One session close to my heart was “How do we protect and empower Jewish people in the workplace?” As someone involved in the JRN, this matters to me.
Jewish colleagues should feel safe, supported and able to be themselves at work without worrying about how their identity might be perceived or treated.
It was great to hear from Julie Dennis, Head of Inclusive Workplace Strategy and Policy at Acas, speaking about the importance of preventing antisemitism before a complaint is even made. She highlighted how workplace culture, early intervention and support can make a real difference.
Employers need to be clear about expected behaviour, make it safe for people to speak up and respond early and fairly when concerns are raised. People need to know they will be listened to and that raising a concern won’t lead to victimisation.
I was also pleased to see the launch of the updated The Board of Deputies of British Jews Employer’s Guide to Jews and Judaism. It’s a really useful resource to help employers and colleagues better understand Jewish life, traditions and experiences in the workplace.

Another important discussion was around the role of trade unions in combating antisemitism, supporting Jewish members and making sure concerns about discrimination are taken seriously.
The programme also covered antisemitism in healthcare, education, the arts, policing and the workplace. It reminded me how important it is to keep having these conversations and raising awareness of antisemitism in all aspects of our lives.
A real highlight for me was also finally meeting some of the people I’ve connected with on LinkedIn. It’s always nice to put faces to names and I really enjoyed meeting you Paul Flaum OBE, Mark Persoff 💙, Rachelle Michaels.
As someone proud of my Jewish and British identity and passionate about inclusion in the rail industry, I’m thankful to be involved in the JRN and to represent the network at events like this.
Thank you to Lord Mann, the Antisemitism Policy Trust, all the speakers and the Board of Deputies for bringing everyone together for such an important day.
