Turns out I also had to debate a second Harvard Professor — the one serving as impartial chair and moderator. Harvard Professor: “Just want to flag that for UNRWA, clearly there are major problematic individuals, and they need to be held accountable. As an institution it has been, you know, a different story.” Hillel Neuer: “What's a different story? I don’t understand.” Harvard Professor: “That as an institution, it is not biased as an institution. The investigation has cleared UNRWA.” Neuer: “Which investigation?” Harvard Professor: “Well, like I said, I'm not an expert on this...” Neuer: “The head of the UNRWA Teachers' Union was Hamas. The head of the Teachers' Union in Lebanon was Hamas. Who was cleared?” Harvard Professor: “I mean, not cleared, but the individuals had been held accountable, they've been fired...” Neuer: “Who was fired?” Harvard Professor: “Those individuals were either removed... Look, I don't want to engage in litigation of all the numbers and facts. The question that I'm interested in is accountability...” Neuer: “I agree, and we have no accountability. Philippe Lazzarini in Switzerland was the head of UNRWA for five years. He was informed repeatedly that the heads of the schools were Hamas leaders. He did nothing. “A recent dispute tribunal of UNRWA issued an opinion a few weeks ago, and they said that UNRWA is obliged to pay death benefits to the family of Fathi Sharif, who was the Hamas commander in Lebanon — because UNRWA had never fired him. He was never fired.”

CLASH AT THE UN: George Katrougalos, chair of the committee overseeing all UN human rights experts, absurdly called UN Watch a “champion of antisemitism” after Hillel Neuer challenged Katrougalous for accepting a $100,000 donation from China and then fully omitting China's victims from his latest report. China also lashed out at UN Watch, saying that Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong are “purely China's internal affairs.” ___ Neuer's speech: ”Mr. President, Thank you for allowing us to pose several questions to the Expert. Mr. Katrougalos, your report mentions China 33 times. At page 9, you say China is a ‘central actor’ defending international order; Xi Jinping is the ‘new guardian of global rules for free trade’; and Chinese discourse ‘closely aligns’ with the UN Charter and ‘peaceful co-existence.’ At page 10, you recite numerous Chinese initiatives, that contribute, and I quote, ‘to the enjoyment of alll human rights.’ Mr. Katrougalos, we ask: if your report is truly about human rights, then where are China’s victims? Where are the million Uyghurs subjected to mass detention, forced labour, and religious persecution? Where are the Tibetans whose culture, language and religion Beijing systematically crushes? Where are Hong Kong’s imprisoned democracy activists, such as 78-year-old Jimmy Lai? Where are the human rights lawyers, journalists, dissidents, and religious minorities jailed across China? Where is Beijing’s mass censorship? Its surveillance state? Its threats against Taiwan? Mr. Katrougalos, one fifth of humanity are denied free elections, free speech and basic political rights. Why does none of this appear in your account of China’s contribution to a ‘democratic and equitable’ world order? Now, you also chair the UN committee overseeing all human rights experts — and the UN disclosed that China chose to donate $100,000 to your mandate. Why did Beijing choose you? What exactly did its money finance? Did it support this report? Who funded your two trips to China, mentioned on Page 2? Will you acknowledge that such funding creates a conflict? Will you commit today that all China’s money will be returned?”

MUST WATCH: Hillel Neuer confronts a UN panel on education over UNRWA's employment of terror chiefs as school principals. “Today’s panel asks how the United Nations can advance human rights education for children and youth. Surely, the first principle must be: ‘Do no harm.’ Yesterday, UN Watch released its report card on UNRWA reform, testing the agency’s claims against the evidence. UNRWA says it fulfilled 41 of the 50 reforms recommended by the Colonna Review. But what is the reality in UNRWA’s classrooms? According to a December 8th, 2025 report in the New York Times, 24 employees at 24 different UNRWA schools, mostly principals and deputy principals, were Hamas or Islamic Jihad terrorists. We ask: Why for 27 years did UNRWA employ Suhail al-Hindi as school principal and teachers’ union chief while he openly sat on the Hamas Politburo with Yahya Sinwar? Why was he allowed to block Holocaust education? Why did UNRWA employee Fateh Sharif serve as a school principal and teachers’ union chief while he was also the Hamas commander in Lebanon? Why did the UN honor UNRWA principal Imad al-Samhouri at its solemn memorial ceremony when he was a Hamas commander sworn to jihad? Now, the UN can pretend they didn’t know, but his social media is full of photos of him bringing Hamas chiefs into UNRWA schools. And so we ask the panel: Is this human rights education? Will the UN and this Council demand an investigation into the UNRWA leaders who oversaw the hiring of terrorist commanders to run the schools and brainwash generations of Palestinians with incitement, hate, racism and holy war? We ask: Who will be held accountable? I thank you.”
