I finally had the honor of meeting Mayim Bialik (@missmayim) in person at the Chuck Lorre moderated event at Cooper Union in NYC on October 15th. It still feels like a dream. We talked like old friends, I shared life updates, and, of course, I thanked her for changing my life in more ways than one. The truth is, my book, The Velvet Bow (And Other Dark Sh*t), would never have been written if Mayim hadn’t narrated my TEDx Talk in 2025. Having someone I’ve admired my entire life, for so many reasons but especially for her activism and her voice as a Jewish advocate for change means so much to me. She unlocked a level of creativity I didn’t know existed and helped me realize I needed to write my story and tell my truth. It started with Mayim as Team Peri’s 100th podcast guest, then as my TEDx narrator, and now, she’s become a champion of my book. Her advanced review is featured on the back cover of my memoir: “Peri’s perspective is the wake-up call you didn’t know you needed: sometimes funny, sometimes acerbic, and always absolutely 100% the truth.” In person, we hugged, and Mayim reiterated to me that my book is such an important read. If you haven’t picked up a copy of my bestselling book, please do wherever books are sold, and let me know what you think. Mayim, thank you for being in my corner. Love you lots. ❤️
