llinois community dedicates "Hersh's Fridge" in honor of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was kidnapped from Israel on October 7, 2023, and murdered by Hamas in Gaza. The fridge - America's first kosher community fridge stocked by neighbors - provides free food to anyone in need, 24 hours a day, with privacy and dignity. Hersh's parents, Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin, attended the dedication ceremony. Jon described his son as an idealist who sought to make the world a better place. "We know that Hersh valued working toward a world without hunger and without conflict," organizers said. "We want to do that in as many places as possible."
