Transcript [00:00] This week, Israel's Prime Minister Bibi [00:01] Netanyahu visited the White House for [00:03] the fifth time [music] in President [00:05] Trump's current term, and the meeting [00:07] was very strange, to say [music] the [00:10] least. From what we've heard, this [00:12] meeting was very different than previous [00:14] meetings between Trump and Bibi, and the [00:16] reason why just might have to do with a [00:18] massive shift coming in US-Israel [00:21] relations. A shift that will probably [00:24] [music] change the course of our [00:25] relationship forever. [00:28] So, this is Bibi's fifth visit to the [00:31] White House since Trump took office for [00:33] his second term. Normally, for these [00:35] visits, Bibi and his staff meet together [00:37] in the Oval Office with Trump and his [00:39] staff to discuss some broader topics. [00:43] Then, Bibi and Trump meet one-on-one [00:45] behind closed doors to discuss the most [00:47] sensitive issues. But, this time, that [00:49] one-on-one meeting did not happen. In a [00:53] shift in protocol, all discussion [00:55] happened in the Oval Office with Trump, [00:57] J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, and others [01:00] present. Some are interpreting this as [01:03] yet another step in the deterioration of [01:05] the relationship between Israel and the [01:08] United States, as if Trump was wanting [01:10] to send a signal to Israel that Bibi is [01:13] no longer part of his inner circle of [01:15] friends and confidants. But, according [01:18] to a leak from an Israeli official, this [01:20] may have been more of a coordinated [01:23] move. Both Bibi and Trump realize the [01:26] strong suspicion and hostile sentiment [01:28] that has been festering recently among [01:30] edges of both the right and left of the [01:33] American public. Very influential [01:36] podcasters and commentators have been [01:37] outright accusing Bibi of being Trump's [01:40] handler, controlling his every move. [01:42] Never mind the fact that the US [01:44] population is about 30 times larger than [01:46] Israel's. The US military budget is [01:48] almost 20 times larger, and also Trump [01:51] regularly does things that aren't in [01:53] Israel's best interest, and tells Bibi [01:55] to stuff it if he complains. But, the [01:57] accusations remain and day by day they [01:59] are growing louder. So, because of this, [02:03] according to this Israeli official, this [02:05] White House trip was carefully [02:07] coordinated. Yes, there were important [02:10] issues to discuss, but it had to be done [02:12] in a way where the American public could [02:14] be satisfied that this meeting was like [02:16] any other meeting between the US and the [02:19] head of a fellow allied nation. And it [02:22] also had to be done in a way where [02:24] voices in Trump's own administration, [02:26] who are themselves distrustful of [02:28] Israel, could have full voice in the [02:31] conversation. And then there was the way [02:33] Bibi handled himself in the meeting [02:35] itself. Back in February, Bibi walked [02:37] into the White House like a staff member [02:39] who got a once-a-year chance to pitch a [02:41] project to a company executive. He [02:43] brought a detailed plan, slideshow cues, [02:46] testimonials from security officials, [02:48] and a detailed intelligence. But this [02:50] trip, Bibi brought almost none of this. [02:53] Instead, this meeting was a more relaxed [02:55] back-and-forth discussion. Bibi [02:57] reportedly laid out three paths for the [03:00] Iran war. One would be diplomacy, the [03:03] other is continued war, the third is [03:06] blockade. According to a direct quote [03:08] from someone in the meeting, quote, [03:10] "Netanyahu did not tell Trump which of [03:12] the three scenarios he preferred, [03:14] although the premier did acknowledge [03:16] doubts regarding the possibility that [03:18] Iran will uphold any agreement it [03:20] signs." And apparently, this is the main [03:22] reason Trump called the meeting. All [03:25] three options Bibi presented are on the [03:27] table currently, and Trump is undecided [03:30] as to what to do. Trump's envoy Steve [03:32] Witkoff and Jared Kushner are still [03:34] negotiating with Iran, and according to [03:36] a Pakistani source, those negotiations [03:39] are continuing despite the current [03:41] fighting that is happening right now. [03:43] But as we've seen in the media, those [03:45] negotiations seem to be going nowhere, [03:47] and while a diplomatic solution would be [03:49] optimal for everyone involved, it is [03:51] becoming more and more clear that the [03:53] Iranians simply cannot be trusted to [03:55] keep their word on anything they agree [03:57] to in any of these negotiations. But, [04:00] that being said, Trump is currently at [04:03] an impasse. US public support for the [04:05] war isn't very strong at the moment, [04:07] especially as this drags out longer, and [04:10] Trump is concerned for the state of the [04:12] global economy, especially in Europe. [04:15] Iran is using the only leverage they [04:17] have against the US, the Strait of [04:18] Hormuz, to their full advantage, and [04:21] every day that goes by the pressure on [04:22] the markets worsens. But, according to [04:25] assessments, Iran is also massively [04:28] feeling the pressure. Every day they are [04:30] facing increasingly worse fuel supply [04:32] problems, longer lines at gas stations, [04:35] etc. And despite the dangers, protests [04:38] have begun breaking out again, as well, [04:41] and there's real fear in the regime that [04:43] there will be a broad uprising, one that [04:45] will break the reign of the Ayatollahs. [04:48] And according to reports, there are a [04:49] good number of IRGC members who are [04:52] abandoning their posts, as well, and [04:54] disappearing. According to one IRGC [04:57] member who deserted, many of those who [04:59] are choosing to stay are only doing so [05:01] because of the money they are receiving [05:03] from the government, and to quote him [05:05] directly, "If it were not for the money, [05:07] they would have turned their weapons [05:09] toward the IRGC a long time ago." So, [05:13] this begs the question, what will happen [05:15] when the IRGC runs out of cash? I think [05:19] this is the gamble both Trump and BB are [05:21] considering. If they ride things out a [05:24] little longer, hedging off the rough [05:26] public opinion, it's just possible they [05:28] could outlast Iran's ability to keep the [05:31] regime together. Basically, it's a [05:33] matter of who folds first. And [05:36] obviously, BB, and Israel for that [05:38] matter, are very much interested in the [05:40] US hanging in there long enough for the [05:42] IRGC to fold, but in this meeting, BB [05:45] was careful to keep his advice guarded. [05:48] He can offer suggestions, but the [05:50] American people need to see this is [05:52] Trump's decision to make. But, there was [05:55] something else discussed at this meeting [05:57] that broke from the norm, and this is a [05:59] massive shift in US-Israel relations. [06:02] Bibi stressed Israel's determination to [06:05] reduce the US's military aid to Israel [06:07] to zero over the next 10 years, possibly [06:11] sooner if they can. Again, I think this [06:14] is a coordinated effort for the public [06:16] image. A lot of US representatives are [06:18] taking heat from both sides of the issue [06:21] as the US becomes more polarized. From [06:24] one side, they're getting pressure to [06:25] end the aid, and from the other side, [06:26] they're getting equal pressure to [06:28] continue it. So, Bibi's insistence here [06:31] takes some of that pressure off. Now, [06:33] these representatives can tell their [06:34] voters that Israel is requesting the US [06:37] end the military aid within the near [06:38] future, and so representatives can vote [06:41] to end the aid with a good excuse to [06:43] both sides. And to this end, just [06:46] recently, Bibi instructed Israel's [06:47] defense sector to begin development of a [06:50] modern fighter jet like the F-35 within [06:53] the next 10 years, which would be a [06:55] massive win for Israel and a huge step [06:57] towards independence from the United [07:00] States. At the end of the day, while [07:02] this meeting was strange compared to [07:05] previous meetings to date, overall, both [07:07] Bibi and Trump seemed optimistic about [07:10] the conversation. Bibi told reporters [07:12] that the meeting was excellent and one [07:14] of the greatest conversations he's had [07:16] with Trump. And uh White House press [07:18] secretary Karoline Leavitt said it was [07:20] positive and productive. And according [07:23] to an official statement from Israel's [07:25] head of public diplomacy, quote, "There [07:27] is full cooperation. There is complete [07:29] understanding that our shared objective [07:31] is to prevent Iran from obtaining a [07:33] nuclear weapon. Israel and the US are [07:36] fully aligned in their understanding of [07:38] that goal." Overall, I think the main [07:41] thing this meeting underscores is the [07:43] fact that unfortunately the US's [07:45] relationship with Israel is changing [07:48] rapidly. While on a broader level, the [07:50] US and Israel are working together [07:52] really well and there's a lot of [07:53] optimism amongst both US and Israeli [07:56] military officials and also at the [07:58] diplomatic level, unfortunately [08:00] conspiracy theories and Chinese, Russian [08:03] and Qatari influence is rapidly changing [08:06] public sentiment. I think we are very [08:08] quickly headed into a time where Israel [08:10] will have to stand alone in the Middle [08:12] East and also maybe alone in the world [08:15] at large. And sadly, being an Israeli or [08:18] Jewish American will become more and [08:20] more dangerous anywhere outside of the [08:23] land of Israel. And Israel is preparing [08:26] for this as fast as they possibly can. [08:30] If you'd like to come to Israel yourself [08:32] to see the land, meet the people and [08:34] show your support during these crazy [08:36] times, we actually have several [08:38] different Heartland experience trips [08:40] planned for 2027. [08:42] There's no better way to see the real [08:44] Israel and gain a deep understanding of [08:46] what this fight actually is than to come [08:49] put your hands in the soil.
