Transcript [00:00] There were more journalists killed in [00:01] Gaza than in any other conflict. Israel [00:03] is silencing journalists. Israel is [00:05] targeting journalists. Surely you've [00:06] heard these claims, but do you know [00:08] where the numbers come from? The [00:09] Committee to Protect Journalists, known [00:11] as CPJ, is the one keeping the running [00:13] list. And they've been cited in over 100 [00:15] articles. They're allegedly tracking the [00:17] number of journalists killed in Gaza in [00:19] order to protect journalists. But the [00:21] problem is they've been including [00:22] terrorists in that list, which [00:24] inevitably protects terrorists. Some who [00:26] are on Hamas's payroll while also on [00:28] Alazer's. some who are videographers and [00:31] photographers while also being soldiers [00:33] for Hamas and some who work for [00:35] terrorist media organizations, none of [00:37] whom are legitimate journalists that [00:38] should be included on this list. CPJ [00:41] just completed an audit of its Gaza [00:43] database, the one that they said would [00:45] be completed back in July and came out [00:47] with an updated list. Our team combed [00:49] through the 191 names on it and [00:51] identified 102 of them with terror ties. [00:54] That's 53% of the list. Media outlets [00:57] with enormous budgets repeated CBJ's [00:59] numbers and didn't question them, while [01:01] we exposed what they couldn't or [01:03] wouldn't. But CBJ removing another 22 [01:05] names doesn't solve the problem. They [01:07] remove people who participated in [01:09] combat. But there's still 13 people on [01:11] the list with literal murder posters [01:13] posted by terror groups. So are nearly [01:15] 60 employees of terrorist media outlets. [01:18] For the record, someone who works for [01:19] the propaganda arm of a terrorist [01:21] organization isn't suddenly a beacon of [01:23] free press because they're holding a [01:25] microphone. Terrorists and propagandists [01:27] do not deserve the same protections as [01:29] independent journalists, but them being [01:31] on CBJ's list suggests the exact [01:34] opposite. Terrorists who squash press [01:36] freedom don't get to define who counts [01:38] as a journalist, especially when that [01:40] list is used to accuse Israel of [01:42] silencing and targeting journalists. Tag [01:45] CPJ in the comments and share this video [01:47] to your story. It's not over yet.
CPJ just audited its Gaza journalist database and removed 22 names.
But major problems remain.
Nearly 60 employees of terrorist-affiliated media outlets are still being counted as journalists, along with 13 “journo-jihadists” whose martyr posters were published by terrorist organizations.
Yet CPJ’s numbers continue to fuel claims that Israel deliberately targets journalists.
