Transcript [00:00] Few people witnessed the horrors of [00:01] October 7th as closely as Dr. Carl [00:03] Wigren. Forensic pathologist Dr. Wigren [00:06] came to Israel in the aftermath of [00:08] Hamas' October 7th massacre and while [00:10] working in the morgue witnessed some of [00:12] its most horrific scenes. [00:13] >> The other case that struck me was we [00:17] got a a body bag with what appeared to [00:21] be a [00:22] part of a foot. It turned out that one [00:25] of the victims was Ruth Peretz and she [00:28] was a young woman, I think with cerebral [00:31] palsy, who was in a wheelchair and she [00:35] loved going to music festivals with her [00:38] father and her father was a just a [00:41] loving kind man. Well, it turned out [00:44] that that foot um [00:47] belonged to Ruth and it was, you know, [00:49] burned. We took x-rays of it. Uh we [00:52] ended up taking DNA. There was a a young [00:55] anthropologist who I called into the [00:58] room to assist and she said this is a [01:00] foot of a a 17- to 18-year-old based on [01:03] the [01:04] uh characteristics of the the bone and [01:06] the cartilage from the x-ray. [01:09] Uh that was really difficult.
