Transcript [00:00] Yeah. So, there's a number of countries, [00:01] European countries that jumped on board [00:03] and Canada, of course, which aspires to [00:04] be a European country. Uh they've uh [00:07] they've jumped they've jumped on board [00:08] on this and we didn't really know [00:10] exactly what it would look like. And [00:11] then there was an incident that that [00:12] took place. There's now been multiple [00:14] incidents. It was innocence that that [00:16] took place where u Israeli travelers [00:19] trying to enter uh the Netherlands were [00:23] all were all put through very invasive [00:27] searches where at the airport at Shiffl [00:29] airport they were searching for anything [00:32] that came from Judea and Samaria [00:34] including you know uh souvenirs anything [00:38] that came from Judea and Samaria and I [00:39] want to add before I before I get into [00:41] what the UN is doing let's understand [00:43] something in [00:47] Palestinian Arabs, what are called [00:48] Palestinians, the Arabs in Judea and [00:50] Samaria, what's known as the West Bank, [00:53] they do not live in great economic [00:55] conditions. And one of the primary [00:58] vehicles for employment of those Arabs [01:02] is to work in Israeli companies that [01:05] build their factories in Judea and [01:07] Samaria. Now, admittedly, it is labor is [01:10] cheaper in the Palestinian areas. Uh but [01:13] many of these people are employed by [01:15] Israeli companies where they make far [01:17] more money than they could make in the [01:18] Palestinian sector which w with whatever [01:20] minimal almost non-existent industry the [01:22] Palestinians have. So for example, [01:25] there's one of one of the major food [01:27] companies in Israel. If you live [01:28] domestically in Israel and you buy just [01:30] prepared foods uh in in the supermarket, [01:33] one of those companies is the Maya food [01:35] company. I've been to their factory. [01:37] The vast majority of the employees [01:39] there, including a lot of the [01:40] management, are Palestinian Arabs who [01:42] are employed by Maya. And if sanctioning [01:48] Israeli companies in Judea and Samaria, [01:51] mainly would put Palestinians out of [01:53] work because Palestinians can can only [01:56] work on the other side, meaning in [01:58] Israel proper, outside of Judea and [02:00] Samaria, if they get a special permit to [02:02] cross the checkpoints. But they can work [02:05] in these Israeli companies within Judea [02:06] and Samaria without any such permit. So [02:09] it just makes it very easy to employ [02:11] them. And there are examples of Israeli [02:13] companies who individually as companies [02:15] were finding it difficult to sell their [02:17] product in certain countries that were [02:18] anti-Jude and Samaria and they they [02:21] simply moved their company outside of [02:23] Judea and Samaria and a whole bunch of [02:25] Palestinians lost their jobs. So that's [02:26] just a separate you know issue here is [02:29] that the main people who get hurt by [02:30] this are not the Israeli companies. [02:31] these Israeli companies can move they [02:34] could simply move the plant, you know, a [02:36] few miles away and and they'll and [02:38] they'll continue functioning. But a lot [02:40] of Palestinians could lose their jobs as [02:41] a result of this. Not that that that [02:43] that's my primary concern. It's not. Um, [02:46] but in terms of the United Nations, the [02:49] the United Nations uh has this list that [02:53] they maintain of sanctioned companies of [02:56] sanctioned organizations. Uh and uh they [03:00] just added the just a few days ago on [03:02] September 26th, the United Nations Human [03:04] Rights Office added 61 more companies to [03:07] a blacklist of businesses with [03:09] activities in Judea and Samaria. Now, a [03:12] lot of these companies are foreign [03:13] companies that simply also do business [03:15] there. Let me give you an example. [03:17] Airbnb, [03:19] Booking.com, TripAdvisor. on those [03:22] websites, you could find um hotels and [03:25] and uh and rental and rental apartments [03:29] that are in Judea and Samaria. And [03:31] therefore, they're now being targeted by [03:34] this United Nations list being pressured [03:36] to pull out of Judea and Samaria to stop [03:40] doing business there. So, what I think [03:42] this signals, Frank, and the real danger [03:44] of this, let's pull back the camera a [03:45] bit. This is not just about Judea and [03:47] Samaria. It's starting with Judea and [03:49] Samaria, but where we are headed is [03:53] there will now be more and more pressure [03:56] on Israel uh in this way and we're [03:59] heading for straight up boycott of [04:02] Israel. That's what I think is going to [04:04] be happening here. I think we look [04:05] downrange, it might happen faster than [04:08] we think, but I think we're going to [04:09] start having European countries in their [04:11] parliaments [04:13] um presenting laws. Maybe some of them [04:14] will start passing to simply boycott all [04:17] business activity with Israel to the [04:19] detriment of these countries. That's I [04:21] mean that's in the end of the day what [04:22] will happen. They'll end up losing the [04:23] most from it. Um, but the Israeli [04:26] Foreign Ministry responded by revoking [04:29] the diplomatic credentials of all the [04:32] Dutch officials who work with the [04:35] Palestinian Authority. Cuz here's here's [04:37] uh here's one of the lovely little [04:39] ironies. The the European officials who [04:43] do all kinds of work with the [04:44] Palestinian Authority, they don't live [04:46] in the Palestinian Authority areas. They [04:48] live in nice homes in Tel Aviv or in [04:50] nice neighborhoods in Jerusalem. And [04:52] then they cross over to do their work in [04:54] Ramla with the Palestinian Authority or [04:56] in other areas there in Jericho. [04:59] So Gonar, the foreign minister announced [05:03] after this uh airport search of these [05:06] Israeli travelers, he said, "You know [05:07] what? If this is how you're going to [05:09] behave, no more diplomatic credentials." [05:12] He revoked all their diplomatic [05:13] credentials and said, "If you want to [05:15] operate in the Palestinian Authority, [05:17] you could go live in the Palestinian [05:18] Authority and operate there, but you're [05:20] no longer going to be able to cross over [05:22] with diplomatic credentials into the [05:24] Palestinian Authority and back." And uh [05:27] he's basically kicking them out of the [05:29] country. So, I think that's the right [05:30] move. Israel is not going to is not [05:32] going to, you know, capitulate to things [05:34] like this. But this is very dangerous. [05:36] We are headed towards countries [05:39] wholesale boycotting Israel. They're [05:41] just starting with Judea and Samaria. [05:43] What starts with Judea and Samaria ends [05:44] up extending to the rest of Israel. [05:46] >> Yeah, I fear so. And and I think the [05:50] thing that caught my attention, Pas, and [05:52] correct me if I'm wrong about this, but [05:54] that the punishments [05:56] that were going to be made out found [05:59] something from Judea and Samaria in [06:02] somebody's luggage, even again if it [06:04] were gifted to them. Um, could be [06:06] something on the order of six years in [06:08] prison. I mean this [06:09] >> six years in prison if it was [06:10] intentional and if it was a mistake one [06:12] year in prison even if it's a mistake [06:15] imagine someone goes to Bethlehem and [06:17] buys you know I guess maybe if you [06:19] bought it from a Palestinian they'll [06:20] allow it in how would they even know you [06:22] you're visiting Hebrron or Bethlehem and [06:24] you buy a little souvenir and it's in [06:26] your luggage you could end up going to [06:27] prison for that in in Holland [06:30] >> this is obscene and must be resisted [06:34] >> uh Pesquili is in the house for one more [06:36] segment we'll be right back and we'll be [06:38] talking about Iran. [06:41] Might that have something to do with [06:43] what's going on here as well? Stay [06:45] tuned. [06:47] [music] [06:52] >> [music]
