Transcript [00:00] to wit this morning in the Telegraph. [00:02] Uh, Israel has said that Ed Miban's [00:04] patronizing criticism of its West Bank [00:06] plans has damaged Britain's relationship [00:08] with the country. Brilliant. Well done, [00:10] Ed. Let's talk to Alon Levy, who's over [00:13] there in Israel right now. Elon, very [00:14] good morning to you. [00:17] Oh, I can't hear you. Are you muted? [00:20] Possibly. [00:22] Could you be muted? No. [00:23] >> Muted. [00:26] >> Yeah. There you go. There we are. That's [00:27] okay. [00:28] >> There we go. How are you, mate? I'm all [00:29] right. I'm all right. But I'm not [00:30] encouraged, I have to say, by this [00:32] useless government, which appears to be [00:34] even more useless than the last one. [00:36] >> No, it would be nice if the British [00:38] government stopped picking fights with [00:40] some of its most important allies. Uh [00:43] but then again, I saw everything seems [00:44] to be going swimmingly with the Please [00:46] don't rape us leaflets. Yes, look, it's [00:49] frankly bizarre that the Labor [00:51] government has decided to pick a fight [00:53] with Israel on all things about a [00:56] housing project on the outskirts of [00:58] Jerusalem. Israel has been fighting a [01:01] multiffront war for the last few years [01:03] against terrorist armies that want to [01:05] destroy it. And the idea that Israel is [01:07] ever going to surrender strategic [01:09] territory on the outskirts of its [01:11] capital city is frankly delusional. But [01:14] look, it's clear the Labor government [01:16] has made a strategic decision that it [01:18] wants to go for a diplomatic campaign [01:21] against Israel and this is just the [01:24] trigger. This fight about a housing [01:26] project on the outskirts of Jerusalem. [01:28] It's tremendously damaging to the [01:29] UKIsrael relationship. Jim, I think most [01:31] people don't realize. I had to double [01:32] check the figures. Israel is the United [01:35] Kingdom's second biggest defense [01:37] supplier by a country mile. Yeah. So [01:40] really just bizarre that Britain would [01:42] choose to pick a fight with with Israel [01:43] over a housing project. [01:45] >> Yeah. And particularly ridiculous [01:46] because they've also signed a joint [01:48] declaration, I think the UK government, [01:50] with um a bunch of other weak willed and [01:53] useless European countries um about how [01:56] what Israel is doing is illegal under [01:58] international law. Well, you know, they [02:00] maybe want to pay a bit more attention [02:02] to what's going on in their own [02:03] countries as opposed to trying to tell [02:05] you guys what to do. You know, I mean, [02:07] as far as I'm concerned, it's none of [02:08] our business what you do in Jerusalem. I [02:10] don't see why it's got anything to do [02:12] with Andy Bernham or bloody Ed Milliban, [02:14] to be honest. [02:15] >> Mike, I think the British, Canadian, and [02:16] French governments are paying lots of [02:18] attention to what's happening within [02:19] their own borders and that's why they're [02:20] succumbing to the pressure from the mobs [02:22] on the streets. They see the pro [02:24] Palestinian, proter terrorist protest [02:26] crying from the river to the sea and [02:28] they realize they're in serious trouble. [02:30] These are their constituencies. If [02:32] Labour doesn't plate the woke Islamist [02:34] base in Britain, they're going to go [02:35] after the Greens and endanger their [02:37] majority. Uh, and so here you see the [02:40] Labor government sacrificing Britain's [02:42] foreign relations, sabotaging its [02:45] relations with a key ally in order to [02:47] plate a domestic base that it's never [02:51] going to be extreme enough for it. [02:53] That's the nature of Palestinian [02:55] radicalism. Um, but you're absolutely [02:58] right. We need to be focusing Israel and [03:01] Britain together on deepening that [03:03] defense partnership, deepening that [03:04] trade partnership, working out how we [03:06] bring more prosperity to both countries, [03:08] how we procure the essential defense [03:11] technology that we need to protect both [03:13] our countries in an increasingly [03:14] dangerous world and not take an ax to a [03:17] critical defense relationship because [03:19] you want to plate the people who are [03:21] marching up and down whiteall in masks [03:23] screaming from the river to the sea. [03:25] Well, exactly right. And I'm I'm looking [03:27] at a statement from the Minister of [03:28] Foreign Affairs from Israel, Gideon Zar, [03:31] I think is is the right pronunciation, [03:32] which he says, um, basically the British [03:35] Foreign Secretary statement is entirely [03:37] one-sided. It condemns Israel while [03:38] turning a blind eye to Palestinian [03:40] terrorism, incitement, and the [03:42] Palestinian authorities continued [03:43] financial support for terror, the pay [03:45] for slay policy. Um, which reminds me to [03:49] ask you about Hamas because I was [03:50] listening to a conversation the other [03:52] day uh on another channel about how [03:54] Hamas is still not um been destroyed if [03:58] you like. I mean, I I don't suppose you [03:59] would expect it to be completely [04:00] destroyed, but what's the what's the [04:02] status of Hamas right now in Gaza? [04:05] >> The status is Hamas is still the [04:07] government of half of Gaza, [04:09] >> right? [04:09] >> Hamas controls half of Gaza. Hamas [04:12] controls the territory where the world [04:14] is pumping 600 trucks full of food and [04:17] supplies every single day. Hamas is [04:19] getting filthy rich off international [04:21] aid and it's running running a huge [04:23] welfare fraud because it's convinced [04:25] Britain that they need to send even more [04:27] food into Hamasrun territory. Hamas is [04:30] refusing to disarm. Hamas is refusing to [04:33] relinquish power and Hamas is the block [04:36] to any progress towards peace or [04:38] reconstruction in the Gaza Strip. This [04:41] is the jihadi terrorist army that [04:43] invaded Israel three years ago with the [04:45] October 7th massacre and it's refusing [04:48] to go quietly into the night because [04:49] it's a barbaric jihadi Islamist [04:51] terrorist organization that's an [04:53] apocalyptic suicidal cult. That's where [04:56] we need Britain to use its influence. [04:58] That's where we need to see British [05:00] power. Help us get rid of Hamas, [05:02] pressure Hamas to relinquish power and [05:05] disarm so the whole region can move [05:07] forward. That's the obstacle to peace in [05:09] the region, the terrorist army that [05:11] controls Gaza. Not a few Israeli houses [05:14] on the outskirts of Jerusalem. [05:16] >> Right. And presumably as well um the the [05:18] Israeli Defense Force is no longer in [05:20] Gaza um because the the IDF pulled out [05:23] as far as I'm aware. Um so there's there [05:26] what's what's going on with that? [05:28] >> No, no, no. The war ended with Israel in [05:31] control of half of the Gaza Strip and [05:34] Hamas in control of the other half. [05:36] >> Right. And the board of peace plan says [05:39] Hamas must disarm completely before [05:42] Israel withdraws from the rest of the [05:45] Gaza Strip. Israel is not going to pull [05:47] back and give territory to the terrorist [05:50] army that wants to abduct little [05:52] children from their beds all over again [05:54] like it did on October 7th. Force the [05:56] total demilitarization of Gaza. Total [05:59] demilitarization. [06:01] And then Israel can withdraw. But Hamas [06:03] is trying to pressure Israel into [06:05] pulling out before it gives up gives up [06:07] its arms. And that's obviously not going [06:09] to happen. [06:10] >> And that is the problem, isn't it? And [06:12] so and we we so we continue down the [06:14] same route, I suppose, until somebody [06:16] somebody gives in in some way on on [06:19] their side. [06:20] >> Well, at the moment, Hamas is refusing [06:22] to disarm and the whole world, I think, [06:24] I hope understands that has to happen [06:27] first. The terrorist army that wants to [06:29] kidnap little children from their beds [06:31] cannot be allowed to hold on to its [06:33] arms. And Mike, there can be no [06:35] reconstruction for the poor people in [06:36] Gaza either until Hamas disarms. No [06:39] country is going to put money in sending [06:42] concrete into Gaza if Hamas is just [06:45] going to pour it straight back into the [06:47] tunnels under people's houses instead of [06:50] building people's houses. Yeah. So those [06:53] poor people are going to be stuck in [06:55] tents without real housing as long as [06:57] Hamas insists on using the Gaza Strip as [07:00] a launchpad for attacks against Israel [07:03] for the sake of peace, Hamas has got to [07:05] go. And that means it needs to [07:07] understand that it's game over. And hey, [07:09] when Hamas sees the British government [07:11] picking a fight with Israel over housing [07:14] on the outskirts of Jerusalem, do you [07:16] think Hamas gets the message that the [07:18] whole world is against Hamas and it [07:20] needs to back down or does it think that [07:22] it can continue squeezing Israel because [07:24] Britain is pitting picking pointless [07:27] fights with it? What do you think? [07:28] >> Yeah. Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't [07:29] it? I mean, that is that is where that's [07:30] their strength, isn't it? That's where [07:31] they they they take their inspiration [07:33] from from Ed Milliband and and Bernham. [07:37] >> When when the Labour government under [07:39] Kama, remember him, recognized a [07:41] non-existent Palestinian state, Hamas [07:45] said that was one of the fruits of the [07:46] October 7th massacre. Hamas sees this [07:51] Labor government's policies as a reward [07:54] for beheading and raping and kidnapping [07:57] people in the October 7th massacre. So, [07:59] you know, I don't know how Hamas can say [08:01] it any more clearly. The British [08:03] government needs to get the message that [08:05] Hamas is feeling emboldened by this [08:07] pressure on Israel, not feeling that it [08:10] has to back down so that everyone can [08:12] move on with their lives. [08:13] >> Yeah, I know. It's absolutely shameful. [08:15] Shameful and shocking. And if I could, I [08:17] would apologize to you on behalf of the [08:18] government, which I will do. But if only [08:21] I could tell them to give a good slap, I [08:22] would. But listen, [08:24] >> unfortunately, I don't think you get to [08:25] speak on behalf of the British [08:26] government. I know. If only I could, the [08:28] world would be a much safer place, I [08:30] tell you. Good to see you, Elon. Thank [08:31] you very much indeed. Elon Levy there [08:33] with the view from Israel. Not a very [08:36] pleasant one, unfortunately, because [08:37] unfort, you know, look at all this great [08:39] stuff that's coming up here. Pooch [08:41] played a blinder with the graphics. Look [08:42] at this. Subscribe to the Mike Graham [08:44] Show. Uh, Friday, 8:15 a.m. Fantastic.
