While the eyes of the world are fixed on Iran and its crumbling regime, something major just happened in Gaza that most people are missing. Hamas has agreed to hand over political control of Gaza to a new Palestinian government that hasn’t even been created yet. Does this mean Hamas is finally surrendering? Not exactly… and I’ll explain why. After three months of a ceasefire — during which Hamas failed to return all hostages and showed zero intention of disarming — reports say Hamas has instructed its governing agencies to prepare to transfer authority to a so-called “technocratic Palestinian government” proposed by President Trump. This government would be overseen by a new “Board of Peace,” made up of Palestinians but approved by Israel. An interesting setup, to say the least. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem even confirmed the decision publicly, saying the handover is “clear and final.” Sounds promising, right? Here’s the problem: Hamas is only giving up political control — not its weapons. There has been absolutely no commitment from Hamas to disarm. In fact, throughout the ceasefire they’ve been stockpiling weapons and continuing attacks on IDF forces. Hamas wants to stop governing Gaza while keeping its military power intact. That’s not peace — that’s repositioning. Because of this, Israel is already preparing for the possibility of another major operation. Reports indicate the IDF is quietly planning a large offensive in Gaza City as early as March, aimed at finally eliminating Hamas as a military threat. With the hostages now home and civilians more easily relocated, Israel would have far more operational freedom than before. Like it or not, Hamas is making it clear they won’t disarm willingly — which means Israel may have to finish the job itself. On a personal note, I want to share something close to my heart. Millions of Christians visit Israel every year… but almost none of them come to Judea & Samaria — the Biblical Heartland where so much of the Bible was written and took place. That’s why we created the Heartland Experience — the only Israel trip focused exclusively on Judea & Samaria. This year we’re running two 10-day trips in March and June. You won’t just tour — you’ll meet the people, volunteer, and truly connect with the land.👉 Sign up at ServeIsrael.com/volunteer or click the link. In other news, something very interesting (and honestly encouraging) happened last week. Prime Minister Netanyahu announced he hopes Israel will end all US military aid by 2038. Israel currently receives about $3.8 billion a year from the US, the majority of which is spent in the US, but Netanyahu says Israel has “come of age” and wants to be as independent as possible. While the current aid agreement benefits both countries, I actually agree with this long-term vision. Israel should never be dependent on another nation for its security — especially one that could pull support at any moment. Developing Israel’s own defense manufacturing would strengthen both its security and economy. And finally — some incredible news from Judea & Samaria. Just yesterday, a brand-new Jewish town called Rechavam was inaugurated in Samaria with 10 families. It may sound small, but it’s a huge step in rebuilding the land of Israel. Every new community, farm, and vineyard in the Biblical Heartland is prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. Amos 9:14 says:“I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them…” If you visit Judea & Samaria with us, you’ll see it everywhere — vineyards, farms, communities — the land coming back to life just as the prophets foretold.
