Major news outlets told you settler violence is on the rise and that Jewish hikers were aggressors. That's not what happened.
If you follow Israel news, you've already seen the headlines last week and this week.
"Settler violence is state violence."
"West Bank in flames after killings."
"Why are Israeli settlers on a rampage in the occupied West Bank?"
Here's what actually happened.
A group of Jews were out hiking in open country in Samaria when they were attacked — twice — by local Arabs. When the second attack broke out, IDF and local security forces arrived to protect them. An Arab sheikh from a nearby village grabbed one of the officers' weapons and opened fire, killing two of the Jewish hikers and severely wounding a third.
That's the real story. Two people murdered in cold blood, and a third fighting for his life.
But nearly every outlet covering the incident twisted it. They claimed the hikers had invaded an Arab village, attacked homes, and thrown rocks — none of which is true. A week later, those same networks are running stories about "settlers on a rampage" and "settler violence on the rise."
Two Jews were killed. The media ignored the truth, rewrote the story, and blamed the victims.
