What an incredible moment— on December 3, 2025, Israel officially handed over the Arrow 3 long-range missile defense system to the German Air Force at Holzdorf Air Base, south of Berlin. This wraps up a massive €4 billion ($4.6 billion) deal, the LARGEST defense export in Israel's history! Signed back in September 2023 (with U.S. approval), it's the first time this game-changing tech—co-developed by Israel and the U.S.—is heading to another country.
The Arrow 3 intercepts ballistic missiles high in space before they can even re-enter the atmosphere, saving lives from threats like those we've seen from Iran and the Houthis (86% success rate in June's conflict alone). Now, it'll bolster Europe's Sky Shield Initiative against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
At the ceremony, Israel's Defense Ministry Director-General Amir Baram, a second-generation Holocaust survivor, shared these powerful words:
"As a second-generation Holocaust survivor, I stand here deeply moved because a ballistic missile defense system, developed by the finest Jewish minds in Israel’s aerospace industry out of our existential necessity, will now help defend Germany. We Israelis, descendants of Holocaust survivors, want to see Germany strong and prosperous, proud and leading in Europe and throughout the world. Today’s handover marks only the beginning for Israel and Germany. Our cooperation will strengthen and deepen—whether in the air, on land, or in space." From the ashes of tragedy to unbreakable alliance—talk about resilience and hope! Full ops for Germany by 2030, but this is a huge step forward.
What do you think this means for global security?
