Transcript [00:00] There has been significant escalation in [00:02] Yemen. We know that the Iranians in some [00:05] of the recent stories that I've quoted [00:07] in videos over the last few days have [00:09] been talking more and more about how [00:12] along with the Hormuz Strait not being [00:15] opened, the Houthis are [00:17] also working on disrupting traffic in [00:20] the Bab al-Mandab Strait contributing to [00:23] further rise in oil prices. Now, at the [00:25] same time last week we saw the Saudis [00:27] put together this coalition a [snorts] [00:30] a defensive coalition of some 14 nations [00:33] that is designed to counter the Houthis, [00:36] to push back against the Houthis. [00:38] There's also a government-led coalition [00:40] in Yemen that's really backed by the [00:42] Saudis that is that has been organizing [00:46] to push back against the Houthis. And [00:48] right now we are in a state of all-out [00:50] war in Yemen. Let's get into the [00:53] headlines. Here we go. So, we have a map [00:56] on the screen. We're going to be [00:57] referring to that a lot in this video. [00:59] Let's start here. [01:00] Houthi attacks kill at least 10 in Yemen [01:04] as rebels as rebels target oil-rich [01:07] Marib. This is from This is from August [01:10] 7th. So, it's already a number of days [01:13] ago. It's already This is from Friday. [01:15] Okay, I'm doing these the first few will [01:17] be in chronological order to bring us up [01:19] to date. Houthi attacks on Yemen's Marib [01:21] province killed at least 10 people [01:23] Friday according to a minister and [01:25] military source as the rebels escalated [01:27] strikes on the oil-rich region day after [01:30] their deadliest attack in years, which [01:32] was also in the same area. A Yemeni [01:34] military source told AFP that Houthi [01:38] attacks in Marib province killed eight [01:40] members of government forces and wounded [01:42] 12 others. The health minister for the [01:44] Saudi-backed government said the rebels [01:47] had shelled residential areas and [01:49] displace and displacement camps in Marib [01:51] city killing at least two civilians and [01:53] wounding 14 others. The Iran-backed [01:56] rebels later claimed an attack on [01:58] government on a government-held military [02:00] camp in Marib province. We keep hearing [02:03] that name Marib. We'll see it on a map [02:04] in a moment. We'll understand what's [02:05] going on. The Saudi enemy continued to [02:07] mobilize and incite its forces. These [02:10] forces were attacked along with their [02:11] arsenals, vehicles, and military [02:13] equipment in the Sana al-Jinn camp with [02:16] a large number of missiles and drones, [02:18] Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarie said in a [02:20] statement referring to the camp held by [02:22] government forces. The Houthis also [02:24] launched [02:26] more than 10 missiles and seven one-way [02:28] attack drones [02:30] uh targeting military camps in Marib [02:32] province, the Yemeni military source [02:34] told AFP requesting anonymity to discuss [02:37] sensitive manners matters. A source [02:39] close to the Saudi military told AFP [02:43] that the Saudi-led coalition supporting [02:44] the Yemeni government since 2015 would [02:47] not stand idly by as the Houthis step up [02:50] their attacks, adding that Marib was a [02:52] red line. [02:53] He warned that the coalition does not [02:55] seek escalation, but we will not allow [02:57] the current balance of power on the [02:58] ground to be changed. Riyadh would not [03:00] accept a Houthi takeover of Marib, he [03:03] said, adding that he believed the rebels [03:05] were seeking to launch an offensive in [03:07] the province. The rebels said Thursday [03:09] that they had attacked several sites in [03:11] response to the to a Saudi-backed [03:14] build-up of government forces. [03:15] Thursday's attacks with missiles and [03:18] drones killed at least 58 government [03:21] troops mainly in Marib, an army source [03:24] told AFP earlier. So, it's 58 troops [03:26] plus then another 10 on Friday. [03:29] Um [03:30] Uh it was one of the deadliest incidents [03:32] between the two sides in years. The [03:34] Yemeni military source had previously [03:36] said artillery exchanges and clashes [03:38] taking place in Sirwah and on the [03:40] al-Kasarah front north of Marib city, [03:43] where Houthi drones were spotted. The [03:45] rebels also hit an arms depot in the [03:46] region. Strategic Marib province is [03:49] split between the Houthis and the Yemeni [03:51] government, which controls the city of [03:53] the same name, as well as the area's oil [03:56] fields and facilities. The Houthis in [03:58] 2021 resumed an offensive seeking to [04:01] take the energy-rich province, but the [04:04] fighting was largely halted after a [04:05] nationwide truce was agreed in 2022. So, [04:09] let's pull up Marib. [04:15] And you'll see how how critical this [04:17] place is. Okay, so Marib is right here. [04:19] Here's Yemen, and you see Marib [04:20] province, and this is Marib city in [04:23] Marib province, and this is kind of like [04:26] the border it it [04:28] it it sits right on the seam of the [04:30] Houthi-controlled area, which is mostly [04:32] in the north and and northwest, [04:36] and the government-controlled region. [04:37] So, this is a very strategic area. We're [04:39] going to learn even more about it as we [04:41] go. Um so, [04:43] let's move on to our next story, and [04:45] this is from Al-Monitor, the Middle [04:47] East's leading independent news source, [04:49] and this is from August 9th. So, this is [04:51] from Sunday. Yemen's Iran-allied Houthis [04:53] have attacked Saudi Aramco's Jazan [04:56] refinery, they said on Sunday, 2 days [04:58] after the kingdom signed a defense pact [05:00] with Turkey and Pakistan in response to [05:03] growing regional instability from you [05:04] with from the US-Israeli war on Iran. [05:07] Now, let's see where that is. So, this [05:08] is the this is the They attacked the [05:11] Jazan refinery. The Jazan refinery is [05:13] right here. [05:14] You can see it on the map pretty easily. [05:16] Jazan, right there. So, it's you see [05:19] it's Saudi Arabia just north of the [05:22] of the border with Yemen, and it's an [05:24] oil refinery that sits right on [05:28] um right on the Red Sea. So, it's [05:30] obvious what it's there for. It's there [05:32] for, you know, the the oil that is piped [05:34] over that comes across in the pipeline [05:37] all the way over to this to this western [05:39] coast is then refined and shipped on [05:42] from Jazan. So, that's the Jazan oil [05:44] refinery. The Houthis hit it, okay? The [05:48] Houthis declared a naval blockade [05:49] against Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea last [05:51] month, citing what they said was a Saudi [05:53] siege on them, an allegation Riyadh [05:55] denies. A The Saudi energy ministry said [05:57] a fire had broken out at the refinery, [06:00] but was later extinguished with no [06:01] injuries, and authorities were dealing [06:03] with the incident without giving a [06:04] cause, meaning the Saudis did not [06:05] acknowledge that this was attacked by [06:08] the Houthis successfully. The Houthis [06:10] used a drone to target the refinery, [06:12] military spokesman Yahya Saree posted on [06:14] X. They had struck Aramco sites before [06:17] in Jazan, which processes 400,000 [06:21] barrels of crude oil per day [06:24] in southwestern Saudi Arabia. They had [06:26] also hit Yanbu on the Red Sea. Yanbu is [06:28] a little further north. [06:30] Um [06:32] Yanbu is [06:34] up here. [06:36] Here's Yanbu. [06:37] Okay? They And there's also that's also [06:39] a major oil site. [06:42] So, they had already They had already [06:44] carried out uh uh Yanbu. [06:46] In a separate statement, Saree said the [06:48] Houthis carried out missile and drone [06:49] strikes on the Yemeni Red Sea port of [06:52] Mocha. [06:53] Okay, we're going to get more into Mocha [06:55] a little bit later in this video, but [06:57] just to know where that is, Mocha is all [06:59] the way down here. [07:01] All the way down at the bottom, okay? [07:02] Here's Mocha, and this is an area This [07:04] is a port that is controlled by the [07:07] government, not by the Houthis. Okay, so [07:09] the Houthis attacked that as well. [07:12] The port controlled by the Aden-based [07:14] government, there you go, is close to [07:15] the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, [07:17] which links the southern Red Sea with [07:18] the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. [07:20] Should it be closed, Saudi Arabia would [07:23] be deprived of an alternative route to [07:26] the Strait of Hormuz. [07:27] Mocha is of critical importance. This is [07:29] a This is a major uh defense against the [07:33] closing of Bab al-Mandab by the Houthis, [07:35] because this is a port Look Look where [07:36] it is. It's at one of the narrowest [07:38] spots in Bab al-Mandab, [07:40] and it's controlled by the by the Yemeni [07:41] government. So, that's a you know so and [07:44] you see the Houthis are going after that [07:46] now. Let's finish up. Rashad al-Alimi, [07:48] the head of Yemen's Saudi-backed [07:50] presidential council, on Sunday briefed [07:51] the US mission to Yemen chargé [07:53] d'affaires Neil Hop on the developments, [07:56] according to a statement. He said the [07:58] Houthis attack put a responsibility on [08:00] the international community, foremost [08:02] among them the US, to move beyond only [08:04] containing the Houthi threat to [08:06] addressing its sources and instruments, [08:08] meaning don't just play defense, we got [08:10] to go after these guys. The Yemeni [08:12] military spokesman spokesperson said the [08:15] attack on the port killed seven people. [08:17] The Yemeni transportation ministry said [08:19] in a statement that the attack caused [08:20] severe damage to the port's [08:21] infrastructure. This marks yet another [08:24] assault on vital civilian facility that [08:26] serves citizens and contributes to [08:28] boosting commercial and maritime [08:29] activity in the Red Sea, the ministry [08:31] said. [08:33] And then this article is from [08:35] uh yesterday, meaning the next day. I'm [08:37] going in chronological order. Yemen's [08:39] army targets Houthi fighters with drones [08:42] in central Marib province. Now we're [08:44] going to go back to Marib. That's this [08:45] province here in the middle of the map. [08:48] And Marib is uh now a major what this [08:51] article's about is that this is now a [08:52] major a major flash point. So, what we [08:55] what we saw in Marib earlier was that [08:58] the Houthis had attacked, and this is [09:00] from Thursday and Friday, that the [09:01] Houthis had killed um at least 10 on [09:05] Friday and at least and then 58 on [09:07] Thursday. The Houthis were attacking [09:09] government forces, and now we see the [09:11] reverse. Yemen's army targets Houthi [09:13] fighters with drones in Marib province. [09:16] Um Yemen's army targeted Houthi [09:18] fighters, military vehicles, and [09:19] positions with drones across several [09:21] fronts in the central Marib province on [09:23] Monday. [09:25] The center said Yemen, uh according to [09:27] the armed forces media center, they said [09:28] that Yemeni military drones targeted [09:30] Houthi fighters on the Alam front in the [09:33] sixth military region, as well as the [09:35] rear of a Houthi camp in the same front. [09:38] Yemeni forces also target targeted [09:41] Houthi fighters in the Al Zour Rawdat [09:43] Jaham area as well as the air defenses [09:46] and mortar positions in the Al Radaha [09:48] mountains, it said. [09:50] Other drone strikes targeted Houthi [09:51] equipment in the Al Qasarah sector and [09:53] Houthi fighters on the Al Aqad front. [09:56] The center also reported a strike [09:58] against Houthi fighters and vehicles [09:59] that had had arrived in the Al Tibas [10:02] area. It said the group had been [10:03] monitored by aircraft at before being [10:06] targeted with a 120 mm projectile fired [10:10] from a Qasef 3 aircraft. Okay, all these [10:13] sites that are mentioned, let me show [10:14] you where they are in the map. They're [10:15] not all they don't all appear on the [10:17] map. Okay, but they're all around Marib. [10:20] All of the sites that you saw mentioned [10:22] here are in uh are on the west and north [10:26] like they're just to the north and just [10:28] to the west and just to the south. Sort [10:30] of in a crescent around Marib. These are [10:33] the sites that the Yemeni army has been [10:36] has been hitting the Houthis cuz the [10:37] Houthis are trying to take Marib. Marib [10:40] is very is of of of tremendous strategic [10:42] importance. We'll learn more about it [10:44] very soon, but that's where the heavy [10:46] fighting right now is going on. You You [10:48] see we have story from from Thursday. We [10:50] have a story from yesterday about all [10:52] this fighting right around the area. [10:54] Um just again, Al Qasarah is to the [10:57] northwest, Al Aqad is to the west, Al [10:59] Tibas is to the south. All the places [11:01] mentioned here are are right around [11:05] They're right around uh um [11:08] uh Marib, okay, which is right in the [11:11] middle. This is the Marib province. [11:12] Here's Marib city in the middle of it, [11:14] but they're all right around this area [11:16] here. This is where all the heavy [11:17] fighting is happening. [11:19] Okay. [11:20] Let's move on and this is all this is [11:23] from today. Okay, these are headlines [11:25] from today. Take a look. Uh this is from [11:27] Asharq Al-Awsat. Two two soldiers killed [11:31] in Houthi drone attack on Yemen's Marib. [11:33] Okay, so this is [11:34] This is the Houthis fighting back today. [11:36] This isn't from Thursday and Friday. [11:37] This isn't the Houthi attack then. This [11:39] isn't the Yemeni forces attacking the [11:41] Houthis in Marib. That was the previous [11:42] article we read from yesterday. This is [11:44] today. This is the Houthis uh killing [11:47] Yemeni government soldiers. Two [11:49] Iran-backed Houthi group I'm sorry, the [11:51] Iran-backed Houthi group launched on [11:54] Monday a drone attack on the Harib [11:55] district in Yemen's Marib governorate. [11:58] Two government soldiers were killed and [11:59] seven others wounded in the attack, said [12:01] field military sources. There was a [12:03] second attack on Harib. This was the [12:06] second attack on Harib in days. So, [12:07] Harib is in [12:09] Marib. [12:11] Harib is in Marib. It's [12:13] uh [12:14] right here. Here's Harib. It's in the [12:15] south. [12:16] Okay? [12:18] So, you can see where the where the push [12:20] is. The Yemenis are com- I'm sorry, the [12:22] Houthis are coming from the north and [12:23] from the west, and they're trying to [12:25] push and take over Marib province. [12:29] Okay? Uh the Houthis continued their [12:31] attacks on government forces days after [12:33] the escalation targeting Al Mokha city [12:36] and its port on Yemen's west coast, as [12:38] well as Marib, Hadramaut, and Dhale. [12:41] Now, this means This is a very [12:43] interesting sentence. [12:44] Okay? So, it says again, let me read it [12:46] again. The Houthis continued their [12:47] attacks on government forces days after [12:50] their escalation targeting [12:52] and then it lists Al Mokha, [12:54] Marib, Hadramaut, and Dhale. [12:58] So, let me Let's zoom out and explain [12:59] where this is. Mokha's down here. [13:01] Hadramaut is a is a um is a province in [13:05] this area. [13:07] Okay, here. Let me if if I type it in, [13:09] you'll see where it is. [13:14] Yeah, Hadramaut. [13:16] Check where it at it check where it is. [13:17] This is Hadramaut. [13:19] And the other province mentioned here, [13:22] so in Dhale is is um [13:26] It's actually not listed by that name. [13:27] That's not the name it's given on the [13:28] map, but it's also it it's also in this [13:30] area. [13:32] Okay? Dali is um so we're talking about [13:36] the the Houthis targeting even the even [13:39] the eastern part that's very far from [13:40] their territory. Remember that the [13:41] Houthis are mostly up here. Marib is [13:44] where the main fighting is, but they're [13:45] also targeting [13:46] other other sites. We'll see more of [13:48] that in a moment. Meanwhile, authorities [13:50] in the southern and eastern governorates [13:52] urged vigilance in anticipation of [13:54] attack. The southern and eastern [13:55] governorates meaning [13:57] out here and out here. In these [13:58] governorates, [13:59] they are they're they're bracing [14:01] themselves [14:02] for attacks. Member of the presidential [14:04] leadership council, Sultan Al [14:06] Ali Al-Arrada stressed the need for [14:08] vigilance in the Al Mahrah governorate. [14:11] The Al Mahrah governorate is this one [14:12] down here. [14:13] Al Mahrah, check it out. [14:15] Al Mahrah [14:19] The Al Mahrah governorate [14:23] is [14:26] Whatever, it's down here in the in the [14:27] in the furthest part of the north in the [14:29] northeast in sorry, in the southeast of [14:31] Yemen. [14:32] That's where it is. [14:34] Yeah, you see? It's right here. [14:36] Okay, let's get back to our story. [14:40] Um [14:43] In Hadramaut, PLC member and prov- and [14:45] province governor Salem Al Al Khanbashi [14:48] uh inspected the Al Rayan International [14:50] Airport, Mukalla Port, and Al Dabbah oil [14:53] terminal to check the measures taken to [14:55] ensure their security. Let me show you [14:57] where these are. These are down here. [14:59] Here's the Al Mukalla Port. [15:01] The Al Mukalla Port is down here, and [15:03] then we have [15:05] right nearby, right near the Al Mukalla [15:07] Port, [15:09] is um [15:10] is the other sites that they're talking [15:11] about. We already talked about the uh [15:13] the Al Rayan International Airport, [15:15] right? The Al Rayan International [15:17] Airport's right here. [15:19] Al Rayan International Airport, and then [15:21] Al Mukalla Port. So, you see that that [15:24] uh this this is more than a Why am I [15:26] showing you all this? To to explain how [15:29] much of an escalation we're seeing here. [15:31] That this is no longer the skirmish is [15:34] going on between the Houthi rebels and [15:36] the Yemeni forces for this or that [15:38] little bit of territory in the northwest [15:42] or down near Bab el-Mandeb. This is [15:44] expanding to the entire country of Yemen [15:46] right now. [15:47] Okay. And then, this is also from today. [15:50] Three killed in Houthi attack on cargo [15:52] ship in Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This isn't [15:54] even on Houthi on Yemeni territory. A [15:57] small cargo ship was attacked on [15:58] Tuesday, today, by Yemen's Iran-aligned [16:00] Houthis in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, [16:02] killing three crew members, said two [16:03] Yemeni coast guard sources and two [16:06] military officials. If confirmed, the [16:08] fatalities on the Tanzania-flagged [16:11] Tihama, that's the name of the boat, [16:12] would be the first deaths in a Houthi [16:14] strike on a ship since Middle East [16:16] conflict was triggered by US-Israeli [16:18] attacks on Iran at the end of February. [16:20] The Houthis have not yet claimed the [16:21] attack, which Yemeni sources said killed [16:24] two Pakistanis and one Indonesian person [16:27] on the boat sailing from Salalah in Oman [16:30] via Djibouti. Attacks on the ships [16:32] attacks on ships in Bab el-Mandeb have [16:34] increased uncertainty for shipping [16:36] companies already hobbled by the closure [16:39] of the Strait of Hormuz. An average of [16:40] 32 ships per day passed through Bab [16:42] el-Mandeb last week. [16:44] Kepler data showed [16:46] Kepler data showed Kpler. Prior to the [16:50] blockade of an [16:51] Prior to Prior to the blockade, an [16:53] average of 50 ships per day transited [16:55] the strait. So, it's a little bit down. [16:56] It's not [snorts] nothing. The Houthis [16:58] also attacked the government-held port [17:00] city of Mocha on the Red Sea coast and [17:02] other areas of the country, deepening [17:04] fears over threats to strategic shipping [17:06] routes and a potential return to civil [17:09] war. [17:10] Right. And Mocha's down here, Al [17:11] Mukalla. Okay, so that's that's what [17:13] they are attacking. Now, before we move [17:15] on, [17:16] I want to [17:17] just put a little plug in for the [17:19] important webinar that we have coming up [17:22] this coming Sunday, August 16th, 2:00 [17:23] p.m. Eastern Time, 9:00 p.m. in Israel. [18:34] Um [18:35] And here this is also from today and [18:37] this is a this is from Anadolu. This is [18:39] from Turkish state media. Mocha on [18:41] Yemen's Red Sea coast in Houthi [18:43] crosshairs and it just it gives some [18:44] good information about Mocha. We're not [18:46] going to read the whole article, just [18:47] what I highlighted here. One of Yemen's [18:49] major seaports, Mocha on the western in [18:51] the western Taiz province is located [18:54] near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the [18:55] gateway to the Red Sea on the opposite [18:57] side of the Arabian Peninsula from the [18:59] Strait of Hormuz. It is controlled by [19:00] Yemen's internationally recognized [19:02] government. Sunday's Houthi attack [19:04] damaged parts of the of the [19:07] key, is that how it's pronounced? K, and [19:10] the facilities used to service ships and [19:12] handle cargo and livestock as well as [19:14] residential neighborhoods. Mocha is a [19:16] port city on Yemen's western seacoast in [19:18] Taiz province. Its location carries a [19:20] strategic significance as it lies near [19:23] the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital [19:24] maritime choke point linking the Red Sea [19:26] to the Gulf of Aden and carrying a [19:28] significant share of global maritime [19:30] trade. While the Houthis control most of [19:32] Yemen's Red Sea coast, including much of [19:35] Al Hudaydah province, Mocha remains [19:38] under the control of government forces. [19:40] This is a critical point. See, Al [19:42] Hudaydah is right here. That's where the [19:44] main base [19:46] the main port that the that the Houthis [19:48] use is or was. The Israelis caused [19:51] tremendous damage to it, basically [19:52] destroyed it uh over the course of the [19:54] last year or so. [19:56] Uh but Mocha's down here. The Houthis [19:58] control most of this coast on the Red [20:00] Sea. Mocha is is [20:03] which only increases the strategic [20:05] importance of Mocha. [20:08] Um [20:09] Due to its proximity to Bab al-Mandab, [20:11] the Houthi group regards the port as a [20:12] strategic link for its military and [20:14] maritime capabilities, meaning they want [20:16] to hold it so they can so they can do to [20:18] this to Bab al-Mandab what the Iranians [20:20] are doing to Hormuz. For the Yemeni [20:23] government, maintaining control of Mocha [20:24] prevents the Houthis from extending [20:26] their control farther south along [20:28] Yemen's western coastline. The port also [20:30] provides government forces with a [20:31] strategic coastal base from which they [20:34] can monitor and operate along the [20:35] western front. Now, you know why it's uh [20:38] why it's a flashpoint, why it's under [20:39] attack. [20:40] And finally, we're going to take a look [20:42] at at this. Very simple. [20:44] Uh not so simple, but just to add to [20:46] what's going on. This is also from [20:48] today. Yemen urges UN action as Houthi [20:51] attacks widen regional risks. Yemen's [20:54] Foreign Minister Afrah Zoubair warned [20:57] the United Nations on Monday of growing [20:59] regional risks from Houthi groups from [21:01] the Houthi group's military escalation. [21:03] Um he made the remarks during a phone [21:05] call [21:06] with UN Under-Secretary-General for [21:08] Political and Peacebuilding Affairs [21:10] Rosemary DiCarlo as Houthi attacks have [21:12] expanded from Yemen's traditional front [21:14] lines to military and civilian sites, [21:17] ports, and areas close to the Bab [21:18] el-Mandeb Strait. That's the point of [21:20] this video. This is not the normal [21:22] Houthi Yemen civil war. Things have [21:24] expanded dramatically in the last few [21:27] days. She also warned of of a continued [21:29] threat to shipping in the Red Sea saying [21:31] it clearly demonstrates the alignment [21:33] between the Houthi militia and the [21:35] Iranian project and its efforts to [21:37] exploit Yemen's location in regional [21:40] confrontations. [21:41] And [21:42] uh you know, I guess there's a that [21:44] there's there's a final uh [21:46] a little item that I wanted that I [21:47] should share with you. Let me move it [21:49] over to this window. [21:51] Attacks on oil refineries in Russia and [21:54] Saudi Arabia send diesel prices higher [21:57] in the world. This is from today. [21:59] Okay? Um and this is just pointing out [22:01] the fact that this that what the Houthis [22:04] are doing is working. Uh basically, it's [22:06] causing more and more price hikes in [22:09] oil. [22:10] And I want to share one more detail [22:12] here. [22:13] This [22:15] So, let's go back to um [22:17] to Marib. Okay, let's go back to the [22:19] Marib Governorate and I want to point [22:21] something out that I did not mention cuz [22:23] it wasn't in any of the of the articles, [22:25] but it's of critical importance to [22:27] understanding what on earth is going on [22:28] here. [22:29] So, this is the Al Abr district here. [22:32] Um and [22:34] there's a there's a and this is the this [22:37] is Al Wadea. This is a major border [22:39] crossing right here. [22:41] This here [22:43] Al Wadea is a major border crossing [22:44] between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and it's [22:47] a major supply route [22:49] for all kinds of goods and military [22:52] equipment and personnel coming in and [22:54] out of Yemen from Saudi Arabia. [22:57] And Al Abr, this is all a desert area [22:59] here. Okay, this is a big desert and [23:01] that's why you don't see towns. You see [23:02] lots of towns here, but this is kind of [23:04] uninhabitable. And but this is a major [23:08] uh a transit route. [23:10] And the Houthis are now trying to [23:13] they're starting to shell Al Abr, and [23:16] they want to they want to gain control [23:18] of part of what they want out of Marib [23:20] is if they can take Marib city, it's all [23:22] desert from here on. They're they're [23:24] trying to take this road uh because if [23:26] they can take the road, they can cut off [23:28] the supply lines from the Saudis into [23:31] the Yemeni forces. It's of tremendous [23:33] strategic importance, and that's also a [23:35] big part of why Marib and the [23:36] surrounding area is so is so in the in [23:40] the crosshairs right now of everything [23:42] that's going on there. [23:43] Okay. [23:45] Uh that's it for this one. Uh I hope I [23:47] hope this made some sense. We're updated [23:49] now on what's going on there. Bottom [23:50] line is this, to you know, cut through [23:51] all the fog. [23:53] What's happening in Yemen is getting [23:55] bigger and bigger and bigger. [23:58] While we have this kind of ceasefire [24:00] negotiation thing going on with Iran in [24:02] Strait of Hormuz, that should not uh [24:05] we should not view this as a kind of [24:07] stalemate cuz what's happening in Bab [24:09] al-Mandab, what's happening in Yemen is [24:10] intimately connected. [24:12] Um and uh and it's causing uh similar [24:15] effects in terms of spike in oil prices. [24:17] It's all part of the Iranian strategy to [24:19] keep oil prices as high as possible, [24:21] make this whole situation as painful as [24:23] possible for President Trump. [24:25] We don't see the Americans taking action [24:27] against the Houthis. [24:30] We'll see where things go from here uh [24:33] because if if you view it as all part of [24:35] one conflict, we have to, you know, see [24:37] this as [24:39] as the Iranian strategy at work. Um but [24:43] also, there's a lot of pressure on the [24:44] Houthis now. These the the government [24:46] forces are really fighting. It's nice to [24:47] see someone actually doing some fighting [24:50] in the Middle East, you know, being [24:51] willing to fight back against the [24:52] Houthis. [24:53] And we'll see where this goes. We'll [24:54] keep monitoring this story, and uh you [24:57] know, thanks for watching. Please like, [24:59] share, subscribe, tell other people [25:00] about this channel. We're closing in on [25:02] 100,000 subscribers, which is amazing to [25:04] me. Started this channel in January [25:07] and we're at 93,000 approximately. [25:10] So, please uh share with others and uh [25:11] you know, let's bring that number up to [25:13] 100. It'll be a huge milestone. A cause [25:15] for celebration, I should say. Anyway, [25:17] again, thanks for watching. Please leave [25:18] a comment. I do read them and God bless.
