Transcript [00:00] The The number one most important [00:02] precondition for any positive future in [00:05] Gaza, for any resolution of the Gaza [00:08] situation whatsoever, the number one [00:11] the main course of that meal [00:14] is dislodging Hamas from power, removing [00:17] them, disarming them. [00:19] And that is what's [00:21] >> done. [00:22] >> Bro, but nothing else matters if that [00:23] isn't done. Nothing else can happen if [00:25] that isn't done. And that's specifically [00:29] what is left most vague and least [00:32] committal in the document. And sure [00:35] enough, here we are, and it is many, [00:38] many months later since that the what [00:40] was it the the 20-point plan was [00:41] announced I think at the beginning of [00:42] October or late September, somewhere [00:44] around there. [00:45] And we haven't progressed anywhere. [00:48] There's officially abortive peace and [00:50] whatever. They meet occasionally in [00:51] Cairo or whatever. It's irrelevant. [00:53] Nothing is progressing whatsoever on [00:55] that front. Why? Cuz we can't get to [00:58] phase two. There is no phase two. [01:01] Right? There's no phase two because you [01:02] can't get to phase one. And and and and [01:04] Witkoff and Kushner, this was one of [01:06] their deals. And I thought to myself, [01:07] wow, this is really Hanan Gefen really [01:09] hit on something. This is the way and [01:11] here's and then I I I I kind of got into [01:14] the psychology of it because I don't [01:15] think Witkoff's a bad guy. [01:17] I mean, he's he obviously wants to make [01:18] money. [01:19] >> a fun I Yeah, absolutely. I think I [01:21] think they might [01:21] >> fun guy. Have you met him? Have you met [01:23] Steve Witkoff? [01:24] >> I have. Yeah, I've I've interviewed him [01:26] up on stage. Uh [01:27] and he was lovely. And and when I was [01:29] talking to him about about the hostages, [01:31] he he had tears in his eyes. I think he [01:33] cares deeply. [01:34] >> I believe [01:35] >> And I know you believe that cuz we spoke [01:37] about this as well. But that doesn't [01:39] mean that that these deals actually [01:43] result in what needs to occur for there [01:45] to be actual significant change and an [01:48] outcome. [01:49] Cuz there hasn't been yet. [01:51] >> That's exactly it. So, when he when he, [01:54] you know, he's a real estate developer [01:55] from New York. [01:57] So, is Jared Kushner. And they're both [01:59] really well-meaning people. [02:01] And And it could be that some of that [02:03] lovely Steve Witkoff empathy that makes [02:05] him so likable, and he seems like a [02:06] sweet sweet guy, is actually part of his [02:08] problem. That he assumes everyone has [02:10] some positive motives, and he's trying [02:12] to look for the best, and he's trying to [02:13] look for a way to make deals with [02:14] people. The problem is that in a real [02:17] estate deal in New York, [02:19] you can [02:21] just Let's have a general agreement that [02:23] we want to move forward, and let's agree [02:25] on, you know, the basics, and we'll work [02:27] out the details down the road. And if [02:28] the deal falls through, okay, it fell [02:30] through, and we kind of take our losses [02:32] and lick our wounds and move on to the [02:34] next deal. That's the way negotiating [02:36] works. So, yeah, he's a good deal [02:38] closer, and he got a deal in Gaza. [02:40] Except that the deal in Gaza he got is [02:42] not being implemented at all. [02:44] And it It It It looks like Hanan Gefen [02:47] nailed it. That this deal that we're [02:49] about to see, there's going to be a big [02:51] signing ceremony, and Trump's grandiose [02:53] language about peace, and it's not going [02:56] to get past first base. It's not going [02:57] to get anywhere. So, in a In a way that [03:00] that's good That's good news. The [03:01] problem is it's going to be blamed on [03:03] the Israelis because I read Iranian [03:04] state media every day, multiple Iranian [03:06] state media outlets. And almost every [03:09] article on Iranian state media for the [03:12] last few days has been about Lebanon. [03:15] And it's been about how Lebanon has to [03:17] be included in this. And it's not just [03:18] the Iranians saying it. If the If it was [03:20] just the Iranian state media claiming [03:22] that Lebanon is part of this deal, I [03:24] would take it with a massive grain of [03:25] salt. But the Pakistani [03:28] foreign minister said it the other day [03:30] also, that that Lebanon is part of this [03:32] deal. [03:33] And the Israelis Prime Minister [03:35] Netanyahu was very quick after the deal [03:37] was announced to go to social media and [03:39] say, and also official government press [03:41] office press release of Prime Minister [03:44] Netanyahu's statement to say that Israel [03:45] is not party to this deal, and Israel is [03:48] not bound by this deal. And when Israel [03:50] just refuses to be part of this charade [03:53] because we actually care about defending [03:55] our own borders and our own security and [03:57] we're not going to go along with this [03:58] nonsense just because Trump thinks it's [04:00] a way to [04:01] to get the straits open. And this and [04:03] and and pretending that there's been [04:04] regime change and and pretending that [04:07] you know this is a new group of people [04:09] who aren't the same as the original [04:10] regime when they're still executing [04:11] people every day. There's a lot of folly [04:14] in this Aaron. It's very We're in a very [04:17] fraught moment. But you know [04:20] the the silver lining is exactly what [04:21] Hanan Giffan said. This story is far [04:24] from over. It's far from over. [04:26] >> Rabbi, final question. Where is Marco [04:28] Rubio? I Now I watched the entirety of [04:31] Trump's comments, the meetings with the [04:33] Qataris, and uh we had [04:36] uh Marco Rubio, Bassant was there, um a [04:40] few others sitting along, and I've never [04:41] seen Rubio look more uncomfortable, [04:44] look down at his feet almost the entire [04:47] time. And third point I make is that if [04:51] you watch other press conferences or [04:53] when Zelensky is there and Rubio is [04:54] there, he generally nods along as Trump [04:57] talks. And that's something we all do. I [04:59] do it when you're talking to me here. I [05:01] kind of you know I'm an active listener [05:02] and I'm engaging and I'm I'm agreeing [05:05] with a lot of what you say. [05:07] Jay uh Rubio did not do that. Uh [05:10] and he hasn't been as he normally would, [05:12] which is a public face and and talking [05:15] about this. Where is he? [05:18] >> I think Marco Rubio is not comfortable [05:20] standing in on you know going on all the [05:21] late night shows and the cable shows and [05:24] and defending [05:25] this deal. Uh I think it's pretty [05:27] straightforward. It doesn't fit with the [05:29] way he he views things. It's funny, you [05:32] know, the interesting reversal in the [05:33] early days of the war and in the lead-up [05:35] to the war [05:36] uh J.D. Vance was kind of AWOL. Like I [05:38] think he was on like he was on like a [05:40] diplomatic trip to Azerbaijan or [05:41] something. Like he was just not around. [05:43] And now and now J.D. Vance is selling [05:47] this deal on all the talk shows. [05:49] >> Megyn Kelly, The View. [05:51] >> Oh, he's going on all the shows, CBS, [05:52] NBC, CNN. He's going everywhere. He's, [05:54] you know, he was on Jesse Waters. Yeah. [05:57] >> He's trying to sell a book. Um, but [05:59] yeah, he's and another interesting point [06:02] I saw Megyn Kelly, just a clip from it [06:04] where she'd asked him, "What did the [06:05] president say when you said you were [06:07] coming on the show?" Because remember, [06:09] it's not that Megyn Kelly was critical [06:11] of the war or that she, you know, [06:13] disagrees on different things. You know, [06:15] she was essentially calling Trump a [06:17] rapist like last month. And the vice [06:20] president is now going on her show and [06:22] he said when he told the president, this [06:23] is the J.D. Vance saying, "Oh, she said, [06:26] 'Oh, I love He said, 'I love Megyn.'" [06:28] I mean, [06:29] I struggle to comprehend [06:31] >> You never know with Trump. [laughter] [06:32] You never know with Trump. And Trump [06:34] also might find it a good thing because [06:36] he needs to win over Megyn's audience [06:37] again. And if he can send J.D. over [06:39] there to talk nice to them, [06:40] >> Absolutely. [06:41] >> I believe that Trump would would be very [06:43] favorable to J.D. going on Megyn's show. [06:45] You know, he he needs to keep his [06:46] coalition together and uh and if they [06:49] like J.D. more than they like him, so [06:51] send J.D. out out as a surrogate. That's [06:53] actually a good strategy. Um, but look, [06:57] it's true. Your observation is a good [06:58] one that Marco Rubio has not really been [07:00] around much. [07:01] I think it's also good to listen to to [07:03] General Jack Keane. When we listen to [07:05] him every day, he's got a lot of [07:06] clarity. [07:07] Um, and and and he's speaking he's been [07:10] speaking very openly about the problems [07:12] with this deal. But listen, Megyn, my [07:14] big um message to you and to your [07:16] audience is [07:19] we've been through a lot of bumps in the [07:20] road. Sometimes sometimes it's two steps [07:22] forward, one step back. And every time [07:23] there's a one step back, we all scream [07:25] that the sky is falling. Let's relax [07:28] because the story is far, far, far from [07:30] over. This deal will not be successful. [07:34] It will fall apart in the coming weeks. [07:36] The Iranians are going to drive too hard [07:37] a bargain. Does that make it more [07:39] difficult to reverse course as we get [07:41] closer to the mid-terms? Of course it [07:43] does. Does it bring other dangers with [07:45] the Israeli elections coming and who [07:46] knows what happens in the mid-terms? Of [07:48] course it does. [07:49] The biggest mistake, the original sin [07:51] here was stopping the kinetic activity [07:53] on April 8th. [07:55] And we're still and we're and Trump and [07:57] the longer it went on, the more Trump [07:59] had an incentive to never go back to [08:00] kinetic activity. As soon as the [08:02] Iranians got wind of that, they knew [08:04] exactly what they needed to do and their [08:05] strategy has worked perfectly. But [08:08] there's still time for Trump to reverse [08:09] course. We'll see. [08:11] >> Yeah, Rabbi, thank you. Thank you. And [08:12] I'm so glad you you brought up General [08:14] Jack Keane. I've watched two of his full [08:16] interviews since this this deal, this [08:18] continuation, whatever you want to call [08:20] it. And he was quite confronting when it [08:22] came to Sean Hannity as well. Kind of [08:24] said, "Sean, you know this as well." [08:25] because Sean was kind of running a [08:27] little bit of cover. And then he was on [08:29] yesterday as well with a young host. And [08:32] he said about it's a mistake and I think [08:34] we should have continued with, you know, [08:36] kinetic warfare and the strangulation [08:38] financially and gone from there. He's [08:40] brilliant, Jack. As are you. [08:42] Brilliant, Jack. I should never call it [08:44] General Jack. I meant to say the General [08:46] Jack. My mother will kill me. Rabbi, [08:48] thank you so much. Of course, everyone, [08:50] if you want to kind of cut out the [08:51] middleman, which is me, go straight to [08:53] Rabbi Wolpe's own YouTube channel. It's [08:55] phenomenal. And a lot of views on this [08:57] last video and I understand why. So [08:59] thank you so much for sharing it with us [09:00] as well. [09:02] >> Thank you very much, Erin. God bless [09:03] you. [09:04] >> Thank you so so much for watching. He's [09:06] absolutely brilliant. If you want more [09:09] from this channel, sign up to be a [09:11] member.
