Transcript [00:00] Hey everyone. So, [clears throat] [00:01] Israeli election season is very much [00:03] upon us and uh in this video we're going [00:06] to talk about a bombshell story that a [00:08] political story that's happening here in [00:10] Israel over the last week, which is the [00:11] launch of a brand new right-wing party. [00:14] Uh and uh we're going to talk about that [00:17] and we're going to talk about that in [00:19] the context or in that context we are [00:22] going to talk about what are um shaping [00:25] up to be the major issues in this [00:28] election campaign. and a few other [00:30] things will get explained along the way. [00:33] So, uh, let's hit it. Let's hit the [00:35] headlines. Winter launches nationalist [00:37] people of Israel party. Netanyahu warns [00:40] it could doom the right. [00:44] Controversial former IDF General Ofer [00:46] Winter, there he is, on Tuesday launched [00:49] a new right-wing party called the Amha [00:51] Israel or People of Israel Party, vowing [00:53] to pursue a hawkish security policy [00:56] while also working to engender unity [00:58] across Israel's diverse citizenry. His [01:00] announcement sparked immediate push back [01:02] from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu [01:04] who warned that the emergence of several [01:06] small nationalist parties including [01:08] Winters would split the vote and could [01:10] doom the entire right-wing camp to [01:13] electoral defeat. Now, let me explain [01:16] this for those uh for the uninitiated. [01:21] Um, so first of all, if you really want [01:23] to understand the Israeli electoral [01:26] process, uh, and it's a it's a complex [01:29] process. It has a number of different [01:30] stages to it from before the, uh, [01:33] election actually happens, the process [01:35] that we're going through right now of [01:37] setting the party slates all the way [01:39] through the voting, all the way through [01:40] after the voting and how the votes are [01:43] counted and how Knesset seats are [01:44] allotted and then ultimately how a [01:46] coalition is formed. If you want to have [01:48] the best understanding that I have seen [01:50] of it, it's a phenomenal explainer [01:52] video. My son, Mayor, put together a [01:55] great video. It's on his YouTube [01:56] channel. So, just go to Mayor Wiki Mir. [01:59] That's how he spells his first name, [02:00] Wicki. [02:02] And uh on he just started a YouTube [02:04] channel recently and he put up a one of [02:06] his first videos is called Israeli [02:08] election process simply explained. How [02:10] do elections in Israel even work? And I [02:13] got to tell you, he did a phenomenal [02:15] job. It is so clear. It is so well [02:18] explained the entire process. So if you [02:20] want to get yourself ready so that you [02:22] know so that you can get your popcorn [02:25] and you can watch for the next two [02:26] months how this whole election process [02:29] is going to play out. It's really more [02:30] like three months until we get a [02:31] coalition uh so that you understand the [02:33] entire process. There is no better [02:36] explainer video you will find. So go to [02:38] my son's uh YouTube channel. I'll also [02:40] put that video as the pinned comment in [02:43] this video. So, it should be easy to [02:45] find. If you're watching you are [02:46] watching this video right now, just look [02:47] in the comments. The first comment will [02:49] be a link to that video. You might even [02:50] want to pause this video now and watch [02:52] it before you continue watching this [02:54] video because it will explain so much of [02:55] the background of how the entire uh [02:59] system works, how the election process [03:00] works. But um what Prime Minister [03:03] Netanyahu was talking about here uh his [03:06] push back is that a critical part of [03:08] that process is that in order for a [03:10] party to get into the Knesset at all, [03:12] they have to receive at least three and [03:14] a quarter% of the total number of votes [03:17] cast and if they don't reach that 3 and [03:21] a/4% threshold, [03:24] which if they reach it, it the minimum [03:26] it entitles you to is four seats in the [03:27] Knesset. You can't get less than four [03:29] seats. If you reach that threshold and [03:30] you get in, you get four seats. [03:33] But if you get even just under it, even [03:35] a few votes under it, it doesn't matter [03:37] one vote under it. If you don't reach [03:38] the threshold that your vote, your [03:41] parties, all the votes for your party [03:43] get thrown in the trash. And what [03:45] Netanyahu is worried about is that with [03:47] a number of different uh small parties [03:49] on the right that are that are popping [03:50] up, they could each can they could [03:53] cannibalize the right wing and parties [03:55] won't get in and the entire right-wing [03:57] block could be in peril. And he's right [04:00] about that danger, but it's more [04:02] complicated than that. Winter, we'll get [04:04] into that more later on in this video. [04:06] Winter called the upcoming October 27th [04:08] election a referendum on whether we are [04:10] capable of handling the real challenges [04:12] of the state of Israel. Very nice [04:13] opening statement. But then look what he [04:15] lists as his key issues. Number one on [04:17] his list, integrating the [04:19] ultraorththodox into the IDF, the [04:21] khedim. Number two, connecting Arabs who [04:24] want the good of the country. [04:27] meaning that that segment of the Arab [04:29] population, especially among younger [04:31] Arabs, you have a growing segment who [04:33] wants to be Israeli and they and they [04:35] and they and they are actually [04:38] favorable to being more part of more [04:40] integrated with the rest of Israel [04:41] bringing about a significant change in [04:43] the justice system that you might [04:44] remember judicial reform that was the [04:47] big issue before October 7th about the [04:49] need to reform Israel's judiciary which [04:51] is it it's a I mean Israel's judiciary [04:54] is very much need of reform different [04:55] topic not for this video, but you see [04:57] that he's in favor of that as well. And [04:59] dismantling protection rackets and wild [05:01] crime stretching from the negative to [05:03] the Galilee. This is very interesting [05:04] because this is also a big issue for the [05:06] Arab population. The Arab-Israeli [05:08] population has a lot of organized crime [05:10] problems and there's a real sense that [05:12] it hasn't been properly dealt with. So, [05:14] he's putting that also on his agenda. [05:15] Very interesting issues. But notice [05:17] number one issue, this is really why his [05:20] party exists and why it's causing such a [05:22] stir is the issue of integrating the [05:24] ultraorththodox into the IDF. So, let me [05:26] uh take a step back now and explain this [05:30] issue. [05:32] And I believe that this will that this [05:34] is already shaping up as the number one [05:36] issue in this election campaign. [05:40] For most Israeli elections in Israel's [05:43] history, for most elections, the number [05:45] one issue was how to deal with our [05:47] enemies, defense, foreign affairs, [05:49] security type issues. I don't believe [05:52] that that's going to be the number one [05:53] issue in this campaign [05:55] for the very simple reason that there's [05:56] a pretty broad consensus overall about [06:00] what needs to be done right now, what [06:02] Israelis want in terms of how to deal [06:04] with Hamas, how to deal withah, how to [06:05] deal with Iran. There's not a lot of [06:07] divergent opinions among the population [06:10] and therefore it probably won't be that [06:12] big of an issue. Netanyahu was going to [06:14] try to make that the biggest issue and [06:16] try to paint his opposition as as you [06:20] know in a completely different place and [06:21] wanting a Palestinian state and other [06:23] things like that. Um he's going to try [06:26] to make that the number one issue. Uh [06:28] but I believe just from my taking of the [06:31] temperature on the ground here is that [06:32] the number one issue in Israel right now [06:34] in this campaign is going to be the [06:37] issue of uh the ultraorththodox serving [06:39] the IDF. And for those of you who don't [06:41] know what that is, there's an [06:42] arrangement that goes all the way back [06:44] to the founding of the state of Israel. [06:46] That the ultraorththodox, the Karedi [06:47] community that is not really Zionist, [06:49] they have a different theology about uh [06:51] about the state of Israel. They have a [06:53] different understanding of it. And um [06:57] it's an arrangement that goes back a [06:58] long time that those who are studying [07:00] Torah full-time will be exempt from [07:02] military service. So what the community [07:04] then did was pretty much every adult [07:06] male is registered as studying Torah [07:08] full-time and no one serves in the army. [07:11] That's, you know, in broad strokes. I'm [07:12] overgeneralizing here just to explain [07:14] the issue. And it's a very contentious [07:16] issue. It's always it's been a [07:17] contentious issue for decades, but [07:19] especially since October 7th where we've [07:21] been fighting this this war for the last [07:24] three years, there's been a a much much [07:26] greater need for personnel. Uh there's a [07:30] lot of the a lot of the young men in the [07:32] country are serving tour after tour of [07:34] reserve duty, leaving their families, [07:35] leaving their jobs and the regular uh [07:39] enlisted army is doesn't have enough [07:42] fighters. The army was much smaller [07:43] before October 7th. Uh and it's putting [07:46] a lot of strain uh the and the strain is [07:50] felt most acutely [07:53] in the religious Zionist community. Why [07:56] is that? Because the religious Zionist [07:58] community is a very nationalistic [07:59] community and has the highest rate of [08:02] its young men serving in combat units [08:05] and consequently being casualties [08:09] and also because that's also that that's [08:11] the community I'm part of the [08:12] nationalist um religious Zionist [08:16] community [snorts] and that community [08:18] because it's bearing so much of the [08:20] burden of fighting in this war and also [08:23] has this has this uh resentment to the [08:27] to the ultra orthodox the karedi [08:28] community for for for [08:32] justifying their lack of service in the [08:34] in the IDF in religious terms and that's [08:37] an affront to the religious Zionist [08:40] community. So there's a lot of [08:41] resentment in the religious Zionist [08:42] community against uh the for not serving [08:45] but also very much against the [08:47] government for facilitating this and [08:48] going along with these compromises and [08:51] that there's also a lot of resentment to [08:54] the religious Zionist party who's part [08:56] of the governing coalition and goes [08:58] along with these compromises for the [09:00] sake of keeping the coalition together [09:02] which is understandable politically. It [09:03] makes perfect sense why they do it. You [09:06] see the the Karedi parties are part of [09:08] the right-wing coalition. Netanyahu [09:10] needs them for his block to keep his [09:12] coalition together and and that's why [09:16] the these compromises persist with the [09:19] with the ultraorththodox. There's also a [09:21] and there's a bill a draft bill that was [09:23] going to kind of you know it was going [09:24] to expand the amount or it it it the [09:27] draft bill expands the number of of [09:30] karatim who serve but at the same time [09:32] it it uh it keeps this it keeps this [09:34] arrangement going and there's a very [09:37] strong sentiment and and a growing [09:39] percentage of the population that they [09:40] just want to end this arrangement [09:41] altogether. there's a lot of anger. Um, [09:44] and it's not all necessarily it's not [09:45] all based on political expedience, but [09:47] that's that is where, you know, people [09:48] don't vote in an election only based on [09:50] what makes political sense. They also [09:52] vote based on their ideology and whether [09:54] they feel their voice is being heard. [09:55] And there's a real sense in the [09:58] nationalist camp that is bearing the [10:00] brunt of the fighting that the [10:04] that this issue of the Karedi population [10:07] not not carrying uh their share of the [10:11] load is becoming the central issue in [10:14] this campaign. Okay. And there's a lot [10:16] of people in that community who've also [10:18] not even voted for for parties that are [10:21] part of the coalition in recent [10:22] elections uh because they're because [10:24] they don't want to vote for any party [10:25] that will go along with these [10:26] compromises. This is it's a very it's an [10:30] open wound in Israel and it is again [10:32] emerging as the number one issue u in [10:35] this election. And that's where Ofer [10:37] Winter comes in because here's a guy [10:39] who's who's very right-wing [10:40] nationalistic religious guy and he and [10:45] his banner issue is changing the status [10:48] quo when it comes to when it comes to [10:50] the So there's a lot of people on the [10:52] right who look at him and say that's the [10:53] voice I've been waiting for. Okay, [10:56] that's that's kind of sums it up. I'm [10:58] sure people are going to nitpick in the [10:59] comments. That's fine. Please drop a [11:00] comment. Let me know if you disagree [11:02] with my uh assessment. Winter, like much [11:04] of the Israeli political spectrum, [11:06] argued that there can never be a [11:07] Palestinian state. And echoing voices of [11:10] the hardline right, he added that the [11:12] only solution in the Gaza in Gaza is [11:14] Palestinian immigration, declaring that [11:16] an enemy who starts a war against us [11:18] will pay a heavy territorial price. [11:20] [snorts] Um, Winter took pains to [11:23] underline his right-wing credentials and [11:25] his commitment to the political right, [11:27] telling the crowd, "There are those who [11:28] are trying to tell us what is [11:30] right-wing. Friends, my family was [11:31] evicted from Gushkif. the Gaza Jewish [11:34] settlement block that was dismantled by [11:35] the Israeli government in 2005. Ofra [11:38] Winter's family was pulled out of Gaza [11:41] in the disengagement from Gaza in 2005. [11:43] So that that gives him a kind of moral [11:46] um you know moral moral standing in the [11:48] nationalist camp as well. I've paid a [11:51] heavy personal price throughout my life [11:52] for the right-wing positions I [11:53] presented. He and his party, he said, [11:55] are clear are a clear definitive part of [11:58] the right-wing camp. We will do [11:59] everything to establish as broad a [12:01] right-wing government as possible with [12:02] as many Zionist partners as possible. So [12:05] you see Prime Minister Nintendo with as [12:07] many Zionist partners as possible. [12:08] Notice he does not want to sit with the [12:10] ultraorththodox with the karedim who are [12:12] not uh who who who are not Zionist. [12:15] That's what he's referring to when he [12:17] says as many Zionist partners as [12:18] possible. He wants to to to [12:22] push he's his party is pushing for no [12:25] compromise on that issue. And if the are [12:27] in the coalition, there's going to be [12:28] compromise on this on that issue. The [12:30] problem is it might not be possible to [12:32] create a coalition that's right-wing [12:34] without the parties without some [12:36] compromise on this issue. But [12:37] nevertheless, [snorts] [12:38] he's talking the talk. And this is where [12:40] some of the resentment against the [12:41] religious Zionist party is. the existing [12:43] religious Zionist party which in order [12:45] to keep the coalition together for very [12:47] understandable political reasons uh [12:50] agrees [12:51] to go along with the compromises with [12:53] theim what bothers a lot of people in [12:56] the in the in their in their [12:58] constituency in the religious Zionist [13:00] community is that they don't call it out [13:02] they don't say this is wrong [13:05] that they just that they go along with [13:06] it and they justify the laws now to [13:08] their credit it is true that more and [13:10] more are more and more ultraorththodox [13:13] are serving in the Israeli army. The [13:15] numbers I heard that the number last [13:16] year was twice what it was the previous [13:18] year. So the numbers are ticking up. Uh [13:21] so change is happening very slowly but [13:24] but in the in the community of the of in [13:27] the in the right-wing nationalist [13:29] religious Zionist community that is that [13:31] is upset about this issue. They don't [13:33] want to hear about gradual change and [13:35] they don't want to hear about [13:36] compromise. People again people don't [13:38] vote necessarily based on political [13:40] expediency. They vote based on their [13:41] beliefs. Many of those in attendance at [13:44] the launch event appear to hail from the [13:46] national religious community as I just [13:47] said, but there were also strong secular [13:50] representation as well as a smattering [13:51] of because there are people in the [13:53] ultraorthodox and the karedi community [13:55] who do want change on this issue as [13:57] well. Now it talks a little bit more [13:59] about Winter's background. He came under [14:01] criticism during the 2014 Gaza war when [14:04] he served as commander of the Givati [14:06] brigade for a letter to his subordinate [14:08] officers in which he described the [14:10] operation as a religious war against a [14:13] blasphemous foe. [14:16] Okay. So, uh I mean I kind of like that [14:18] about him. Uh he he was he was [14:21] criticized. You understand what he did [14:23] here? He was the he was the commander of [14:24] the of the Givati brigade and he was [14:27] encouraging his soldiers in the 2014 war [14:29] and in his encouragement he described [14:31] the enemy as blasphemous and he and he [14:34] he cast the war in religious terms which [14:36] is kind of what kamas does right kamas [14:38] always casts their war in religious [14:39] terms they their attack on October 7th [14:42] was called the al axa flood named after [14:44] the temple mount I kind of like what [14:47] winter is doing here you know because [14:49] look this is a religious war it's and if [14:52] we're unwilling to acknowledge it. [14:53] That's part of the problem in my [14:54] opinion. But I digress. Responding to [14:57] Winter's announcement, Prime Minister [14:58] Netanyahu issued his second appeal in [15:00] two days not to support smaller [15:03] right-wing parties that may not pass the [15:04] 3 and a/4% electoral threshold. [15:08] Today, we have three mushrooms after the [15:09] rain. Natanya Netanyahu said at an [15:12] event, naming Winter as well as two [15:15] far-right politicians, Mosha Fagan and [15:17] Avi Mo. Mosha Fagland runs a party in [15:19] the last few elections. He well, he [15:20] hasn't run didn't run in the last one. [15:22] He he's run he's run his own party a [15:24] number of times and he never makes it in [15:26] and he's talking about running he's [15:27] saying he's running again. Avi is a [15:29] Knesset member who came in on someone [15:31] else's list and now he's got his and [15:33] he's got his own party as his own little [15:34] faction of one and he's running. Um and [15:38] they're not going to get it. Neither of [15:39] them is going to cross the threshold and [15:40] that means anyone who votes for them [15:42] those those votes are going to go in the [15:43] trash. Quote, "Whoever doesn't pass the [15:45] electoral threshold wastes their votes. [15:47] Whoever does pass will take down an [15:49] existing party." So there's only one [15:52] message for all the new right-wing [15:53] parties. Leave or unite with the [15:55] existing parties. If you care about the [15:56] future of the state of Israel, that's [15:58] what you need to do. Now uniting, what [15:59] Netao means is this. There's a there's a [16:03] deadline [16:05] by which every party has to submit its [16:08] list to uh for the election. Its list is [16:11] the candidates on its list in number [16:13] order. And then based on how many votes [16:16] you get, that's how many seats you get [16:18] in Kesset. Let's say you get six seats. [16:19] So, the top six names on your list go [16:21] in. Okay. Everyone has to submit their [16:24] lists. The official party slates uh this [16:27] year, this election, it's by September [16:29] 8th. So, it's coming up next week by [16:31] September 8th. That's the deadline to [16:33] submit party lists. So, whatever that's [16:36] when it's determined who's running, what [16:38] the you know what the actual slates are. [16:41] And what often happens is that small [16:43] parties that are on the bubble that [16:44] aren't sure they're going to cross the [16:45] threshold will unite and essentially [16:47] become one party. one party list for the [16:50] sake of the election [16:52] and then right and then after the [16:53] election once they get in then they go [16:55] their separate ways and they become [16:56] different factions in the Knesset. So [16:58] what Natanya is trying to do right now [17:00] is get these smaller parties on the [17:02] right to unite with each other. Okay, [17:05] that's what he's because out of fear of [17:07] losing the votes which is exactly what [17:09] he should be doing. Beyond Winter's [17:11] people of Israel, there are several [17:12] additional right-wing parties that have [17:14] been established in recent months as [17:16] part of the so-called third block [17:20] aimed at drawing votes away from Likood [17:22] and forcing a compromise with Zionist [17:24] opposition parties to create a broad [17:25] Zionist unity government. What is this [17:27] talking about? So, for example, I [17:30] there's a party uh called uh Israel [17:32] Elenu, Israel is our home uh run by [17:36] Avdar Lieberman. It is a right-wing [17:38] party on defense issues, defense and [17:40] security issues, especially not on [17:41] religious issues, but on defense and [17:43] security issues. It's a nationalist [17:44] right-wing party. Um, a lot of the [17:46] Russian population votes for them, the [17:49] Russian speaking population. Um, and but [17:53] not only, probably about half their [17:55] voters are from are from that, but a lot [17:57] of people who are on the right who don't [18:00] want to compromise on this draft issue [18:02] with the ultraorththodox have voted for [18:04] them because they don't compromise on [18:06] that issue. And for that reason, they [18:07] didn't sit in this government. They have [18:10] not been part of Netanyahu's coalition [18:11] the whole way through because they don't [18:13] compromise on this issue. So now there [18:16] are other smaller parties that are [18:17] popping up and they're all and this is [18:20] the big issue that's motivating a lot of [18:22] it. Okay, it's the number one issue for [18:23] a number of these parties. Polls [18:25] published in recent days indicate that [18:27] Winter's fledgling right-wing party has [18:29] the potential to pass the electoral [18:30] threshold. However, winter's success [18:32] could harm the far-right religious [18:34] Zionism party's chances of returning to [18:36] the Knesset and even have the effect of [18:39] shrinking the pro Netanyao block. [18:41] According to the wet news site, [18:43] religious Zionism chairman Batalo Smutri [18:45] expressed concern regarding Winter's [18:47] entrance into politics at a parlor [18:49] meeting the other day, declaring that [18:51] there are enough good parties. [18:52] Smutterish decrieded what he described [18:54] as dangerous political adventures. [18:57] Now, on Winter's list, you have some [18:59] interesting people. Number two on the [19:01] list after him is Yseph Hadad, [19:03] right-wing Arab-Israeli influencer right [19:05] there. That's Ysef Hadad. You may have [19:06] seen him. Uh Lai Dai, who's the mother [19:10] of a slain IDF soldier, Staff Sergeant [19:13] Sadia Dai, former Channel 13 journalist. [19:16] Okay. Uh and then we have u Sigal [19:19] Crownic whose husband Arhi was killed on [19:22] October 7th while battling Kamas [19:26] uh while battling against the Kamas [19:28] invasion and massacre in in Kibbutz [19:30] Bayer. That's one of the kibbutim, one [19:32] of the one of the towns that was hit [19:34] hardest on October 7th and he died [19:35] fighting kamas there. So you see the [19:38] ethos of the party that he's creating. [19:40] Um it mentions a few other people who [19:42] are on the list. Uh, Winter endorsed [19:45] Ysef Khad as the country's next public [19:47] diplomacy minister, hugging him on stage [19:50] while supporters applauded. Remember, [19:51] he's an Israeli Arab who's very [19:53] pro-Israel and is a big spokesman for [19:55] Israel. You've probably seen him around. [19:57] Addressing the crowd, Khadad insisted [19:59] that Israel needs a new right-wing party [20:00] that understands the mentality of the [20:02] Middle East, declaring that he intends [20:04] to be the first Arab in the Israeli [20:06] security cabinet, the key body that [20:08] makes decisions on Israeli security [20:10] affairs. So, that's the announcement [20:12] there. [20:13] Uh and now uh the Times of Israel [20:16] published a poll the other day that [20:17] shows Winter's party getting six seats [20:19] and pushing Batalosmatrich's religious [20:22] Zionism party out of the Knesset [20:24] altogether. Now a word about Israeli [20:26] polls and I I made a video about Israeli [20:28] polls a couple months ago. Maybe you saw [20:29] it. Israeli polls are notoriously [20:32] unreliable and they're also [20:35] I mean they're unreliable. They're also [20:37] not transparent. In if you're American, [20:41] you'll know that in the United States of [20:42] America, in a lot of countries in the [20:43] world, when a poll is published, there [20:45] is something called cross tabs, which is [20:47] the actual uh details of the poll also [20:50] get published and you can download them [20:52] usually from from the website of the [20:54] polling agency and you can read the [20:56] cross tabs and that really gives you the [20:57] truth of the poll, the real, you know, [20:59] the you know, the demographic breakdown [21:01] of everyone that was pled and and the [21:03] geographic breakdown and and what [21:05] exactly what questions were asked and [21:07] you can really get some transparency and [21:09] that's where you can notice anomalies or [21:10] or or uh or inefficiencies in the poll [21:13] and you can make some judgments. Israeli [21:15] poll polling agencies never publish [21:17] their cross tabs. I've even tried to get [21:19] a hold of cross tabs when I've seen a [21:21] poll and been refused. They just don't [21:23] publish them. There's no transparency. [21:25] And because of that, you have wide [21:26] divergence between polling out of [21:28] leftwing media outlets or right-wing [21:30] media outlets. It's very politicized. [21:32] It's hard to trust them. But [21:34] nevertheless, the it looks the polling, [21:38] the early polling is showing that that [21:41] uh winter could cross the threshold, but [21:44] that it will harm the religious Zionist [21:47] party of Batalo Smutri, which would [21:49] cannibalize the right-wing and end up [21:51] meaning that a lot of votes would get [21:52] thrown in the trash because even if [21:53] Smutish, even if religious Zionism [21:55] doesn't get in, they're going to get [21:56] close to the threshold, and that's the [21:58] worst thing that can happen is uh [22:00] blowing all those all those votes. [22:02] Again, watch my son's video. It'll help [22:04] you understand this whole process. Uh, [22:06] and you you'll really be happy you [22:07] watched it if you you know if you're a [22:09] little confused about how the system [22:10] works. But but that's the that's the [22:12] long and short of it here. Uh the the [22:15] anti-Nanyo Zionist parties uh according [22:18] to this poll would end up in the [22:19] majority. I don't believe this poll [22:21] exactly um because I I don't think that [22:23] Likud is going to get four less seats [22:25] than Gadi Katy Ashar party. I don't [22:28] believe that. But I also don't believe [22:29] that Byakad which is led by Napali [22:31] Bennett and Ya Laid is going to get 14. [22:33] So I don't I don't really trust these u [22:36] these numbers. But be that as it may uh [22:39] there's some like like you see here [22:41] Times of Israel is saying that [22:43] Overwinter is looking like he could get [22:45] seats. Now the whole the whole value of [22:47] overwinter's party to the right is [22:49] really only if he's bringing in voters [22:51] into the coalition block that weren't in [22:54] the coalition block. if it's just [22:55] cannibalizing other parties within the [22:57] coalition block that that that then then [23:00] Netanyahu's concern is absolutely [23:02] correct. So this is something we're [23:04] going to have to watch. Now before I go [23:05] on to the u um any further with this [23:10] um we are in the high holiday season is [23:13] is is rapidly approaching us and uh you [23:16] know Russia shana and the high holiday [23:18] season are coming and right now in [23:19] Israel there are families who will not [23:21] have food on the table for the holiday [23:23] not because they don't want to celebrate [23:24] but because they simply cannot afford [23:26] to. And this month, the team at Israel [23:28] 365 charity is running a dedicated [23:32] campaign to assist these families and [23:34] make sure that they can celebrate with [23:36] their children like all the rest of us, [23:37] like all the rest of the Jewish people [23:39] at high holiday season. So, we are [23:41] putting together massive food packages [23:44] that will be handd delivered to people's [23:45] doorsteps. And we're also sponsoring [23:47] participants to attend a deluxe holiday [23:49] meal being hosted in Jerusalem. If this [23:52] initiative speaks to you, I ask that you [23:54] join us and help make a difference for [23:55] these people. will click the link in the [23:57] description of this video or go to [23:58] Israel 365 charity. But best click the [24:01] link in the description of this video [24:03] and let's make sure that no family in [24:04] Israel sits at an empty table during [24:08] this holiday season. This is you know um [24:10] our joy on the holidays has to you know [24:13] part of our our uh festivities and our [24:16] rejoicing has to be bringing joy to [24:19] needy families. So please go ahead and [24:21] click that uh link in the description of [24:23] this video. Now uh last uh points on [24:26] this issue. Oper Winter makes his [24:28] position clear. We will recommend only [24:29] Netanyahu. So what does recommending [24:31] mean? And again watch my son's video. [24:33] You'll understand this even more. But [24:35] basically what happens is after the [24:36] election is all said and done and we [24:38] figure out how many seats everyone has, [24:39] each of the party leaders makes a [24:42] recommendation [24:43] to the to the president of the state of [24:45] Israel, who is really a ceremonial [24:47] position mostly, but he has a role here [24:49] that they each make a recommendation for [24:51] who should be prime minister. And once [24:53] those recommendations are all in, based [24:56] on those recommendations, a mandate is [24:57] given to usually the head of the largest [25:00] party or the one who got the most [25:02] recommendations to then put together a [25:05] coalition. So this is another way of [25:07] saying that we're that we want to be in [25:09] a Netanyahu coalition. Uh and then there [25:12] was a there was a news item that was [25:13] kind of humorous which is Gadi Eisenot [25:16] Netanyao's rival on the left was asked [25:18] if he would include Ofer Winter in his [25:21] coalition and if he would give him the [25:22] role of defense minister and he said no [25:25] and Ofer Winter responded by saying I I [25:27] don't want to serve in your government [25:28] anyway. And look what he says here. Um [25:32] Winter responded that the gap between [25:33] him and Eisenkot stems from [25:35] fundamentally different security [25:36] doctrines. There's a strategic [25:38] conceptual chasm between us. I've [25:40] already said that I have no intention of [25:42] being part of your government and I will [25:43] do everything I can to prevent it from [25:45] being formed. For years I've opposed the [25:47] security doctrine you led. I opposed [25:50] containment. I opposed deescalation. I [25:53] also saw the judgment of the strategic [25:54] command you are referring to in the [25:56] appointments you made. And he mentions a [25:58] few of them. He continued so that if so [26:01] if that's what you mean by the strategic [26:02] command you're referring to, I'm proud [26:04] that I was not part of it because [26:05] Eisenot said that that he would never [26:07] make Winter his defense minister because [26:09] he's never been part of the senior [26:10] strategic command. And Winter is saying [26:12] the senior strategic command, you mean [26:13] the guys that that brought about October [26:16] 7th? I don't want to be a part of those [26:17] guys anyway. According to Winter, his [26:19] party seeks to promote a different [26:21] security doctrine from the one he [26:22] attributes to Eisenkot. That will not [26:24] happen under our watch. New people will [26:26] bring new approaches, swift decisive [26:28] action, voluntary immigration, and IDF [26:32] soldiers will always, but always come [26:34] before enemy civilians. Um, and um, [26:38] yeah, and also in his video where he [26:40] said that he's only going to support [26:41] Netanyahu, [26:42] it was very interesting because he said [26:44] he made this video saying that he's [26:46] going to he's going to recommend [26:47] Netanyahu for prime minister. And then [26:48] right after he said that he then went on [26:50] to say [26:52] he then went on to say will serve in the [26:55] IDF meaning the ultraorththodox will [26:57] serve in the IDF with or without the [26:59] kared wheeler dealers. In other words he [27:01] was saying I will sit in a natanyao le [27:04] coalition but that is going to go along [27:06] with no compromise on the [27:09] ultraorththodox on the karedum serving [27:11] in the IDF. So you see how this is the [27:13] issue this is going to be the issue for [27:14] his party and for a lot of people in [27:16] Israel. Um [27:18] and uh yeah, so we're going to continue [27:21] to follow this very closely as things [27:22] progress. The next few weeks are going [27:24] to get interesting. Please drop a [27:26] comment. Let me know if you're [27:27] interested in more of these videos about [27:29] the Israeli elections. I know the last [27:31] one I did didn't do so well, but I do [27:32] want to cover the elections. And also, [27:34] you know, let me know some issues [27:36] relating to the Israeli elections that [27:38] you really want to hear about. Uh and uh [27:41] give me some, you know, some suggestions [27:42] for future videos on these topics. All [27:44] right, God bless.
