Transcript [00:00] This was brutal for Marco Rubio. Take a [00:03] look. [00:03] >> Mr. Secretary, yesterday the vice [00:05] president said that Iran needed to do [00:07] something meaningful to its nuclear [00:08] enrichment capacity. Is that to say that [00:11] the US is now open to an enrichment [00:13] capacity above zero in Iran? [00:15] >> I don't think it means [00:16] >> this is my second question if you don't [00:18] mind. Um, if I may, amid increasing [00:21] congressional scrutiny of Ambassador [00:24] Gilfoil's tenure here, I'm wondering, [00:26] Mr. Secretary, if you've personally [00:27] reviewed some of those allegations and [00:29] are confident that all is in compliance [00:31] with State Department ethics, [00:33] >> if you'd like to answer, then I can pose [00:34] the question to the minister. [00:36] >> Pose what question to the minister? [00:38] >> I'll just do the third question to the [00:40] minister. That is the only question to [00:41] the minister. [00:42] >> Well, I'm exc [00:46] This is not the forum where we're going [00:48] to address that. Simple as that. Suffice [00:49] it to say, our embassy here is doing a [00:51] great job. Our ambassador has been a [00:53] strong ambassador here. the questions [00:54] you're asking me, we're not addressing [00:56] those at press conferences in Greece [00:57] with a foreign minister and in another [00:59] country. That said, um, on your first [01:01] question, look that it's very certain, I [01:03] don't understand what the confusion is [01:04] about the nuclear program. Iran cannot [01:06] have a nuclear weapon. Simple, period, [01:08] and end of story. I'm not going to go [01:09] into, you know, into the details about [01:12] what be acceptable or not. I can tell [01:13] you this that they're not going to ever [01:15] have a nuclear program. And anything [01:17] they agree to that would be acceptable [01:18] to the United States has to be something [01:20] that ensures that Iran will never have a [01:22] nuclear weapon. That that is what our [01:24] position is. That is the reason why this [01:25] began. And it's important to understand [01:27] and I've raised this multiple times. [01:29] I'll raise it again. What Iran was [01:31] trying to do was build up a conventional [01:33] capability so massive that they would [01:36] become untouchable. In essence, they [01:38] would come to the world in a year or two [01:40] and say, "You can't attack us. We're [01:41] going to build a nuclear weapon, and [01:43] there's nothing you can do about it [01:44] because we have so many missiles and so [01:46] many drones that if you try to do [01:47] anything about our nuclear program, we [01:49] will wipe out every country in the [01:51] Middle East. we will drive the US forces [01:53] out of the region. We we we can do [01:55] whatever we want. That is what they were [01:57] trying to achieve. The president of the [01:59] United States, Donald J. Trump, was [02:00] never going to allow that to happen. He [02:02] just wasn't. He addressed something that [02:04] had been ignored for far too long. And [02:05] so, he destroyed their drone program and [02:07] their drone manufacturing capability. He [02:10] destroyed their missile capability. He [02:12] severely eroded both of those [02:14] capabilities in terms of current [02:15] launchers. He destroyed their navy. He [02:17] destroyed their air force. They are far [02:19] less powerful militarily today than they [02:21] were. And that line of immunity they [02:23] were trying to hide behind has been [02:24] erased. They will never have a nuclear [02:26] weapon. Period. Not as long as President [02:29] Trump is in office. And that to us is [02:31] the bright line. Now how you achieve [02:33] that and so forth, you know, I think [02:34] they've had multiple opportunities in [02:36] the past to reach agreements on those [02:38] things. They have failed to do so. Now [02:40] they're facing crippling sanctions. [02:42] Their economy is in total and complete [02:43] freefall. I'm happy that for the first [02:46] time even the media and the US is [02:48] beginning to cover what a bad situation [02:49] Iran faces. The straits of Hormuz are [02:52] open. There's almost as much oil flowing [02:54] out now as there was before this [02:56] conflict began. So they've lost complete [02:58] control of the straits and their economy [03:00] and it's not not only are they in freef [03:01] fall now. The Iranian economy is about [03:04] to reach a place that few countries in [03:06] the world have been in terms of how bad [03:07] it's going to get. And it's all the [03:09] fault all the fault of the radical Shia [03:12] clerics that make the decisions in that [03:14] country. They are the ones that have put [03:15] the poor people of Iran in the situation [03:18] that they're in because every dollar and [03:20] every penny that that regime gets, they [03:22] don't spend it on roads or bridges or [03:24] helping improve the lives of the Iranian [03:25] people. They spend that money on [03:27] Hezbollah and Hamas and militias that [03:29] fire rockets out of Iraq and the [03:31] Houthies. That's who they spend their [03:32] money on. They should have spent their [03:34] money on their people and instead they [03:35] spend their money on terrorism and on [03:36] weapons. So hopefully that'll change, [03:39] but um yeah, they'll never have a [03:40] nuclear weapon. [03:42] >> All I can say is, ladies and gentlemen, [03:43] this man is our next president. Marco [03:46] Rubio has shown himself to be the most [03:49] professional person in the Trump [03:51] administration over the last year and a [03:53] half. Uh and he doesn't seem to be [03:56] slowing down. You know, you have scandal [03:58] here, scandal there. He is just working. [04:01] You know, there are memes going all over [04:03] the internet of Marco Rubio as Ayatollah [04:05] of Iran. uh you know Marco Rubio as the [04:08] president of W Venezuela because you [04:10] know we unseeded that. So that is the [04:14] reality and I think that people on the [04:16] right as much as some of them prefer JD [04:19] Vance or you know some of the groers and [04:22] anti-Israel folks are more on that side. [04:25] I think he'll be able to pull more [04:26] people to his point of view of like just [04:29] focus on what people want and what [04:32] people care about, you know, versus this [04:34] ideological kind of battle happening on [04:37] the right. And so I think he'll actually [04:40] be the nominee uh in 2028 whether he [04:44] likes it or not. I think people are [04:45] going to push him up and be like, [04:47] "You're the guy.
