Transcript [00:00] She got angry. A biased Arab host [00:03] confronts an Israeli spokesman on [00:05] Israeli settlements and it backfires. [00:09] Take a look. [00:10] >> First, the view from Israel. I've been [00:11] speaking to Benjamin Netanyahu [00:13] spokesman. I began by asking him if he [00:16] would condemn violent crimes carried out [00:18] by settlers. [00:19] >> You know, it first of all, I I [00:21] understand the question. I think it's a [00:22] bit of a loaded question simply because [00:24] uh that's what you decide to lead with [00:26] after this preposterous speech by the [00:29] foreign secretary of the Labor [00:31] government in his essentially saying [00:34] that Jewish people are no longer allowed [00:36] to live in Judea and there are hundreds [00:38] of thousands of Jewish people in Judea. [00:40] Most of them go to work on a daily [00:42] basis. Their mothers and fathers are [00:43] children. Yes, there is crime in Judea. [00:46] And as the prime minister has said from [00:48] the very beginning, we condemn all [00:50] crime, whether it's Jewish crime or Arab [00:52] crime. No one deserves to live under [00:55] crime to be threatened or to be [00:57] intimidated. And therefore, if there are [00:59] Jews who are doing it, we condemn it and [01:01] we bring them to justice. And if there [01:02] are Arabs who are doing it, we bring [01:04] them to justice. Unfortunately, our [01:05] partners on the other side, the [01:06] Palestinian Authority, aren't helping [01:08] matters because they are actually paying [01:10] Arab terrorists to kill Jews. And so [01:12] it's very difficult to contend with this [01:14] and that is uh that's where we're [01:16] holding in in order to understand the [01:18] comparison in Judea and Samaria. [01:20] >> I I I understand why you're trying to [01:22] divert the the the point here that the [01:24] UK government is trying to make saying [01:26] that what they're saying is that that [01:28] Jews can't live in in the West Bank. But [01:31] they are specifically focused on on the [01:34] violence uh by by uh the settlers in the [01:38] West Bank. And frankly, it's not just uh [01:41] the UK government. It's 11 other [01:43] countries uh who are also condemning [01:45] this and also putting out their own [01:47] sanctions. These are allies of Israel [01:50] who are deeply concerned by the fact [01:53] that the Israeli government just frankly [01:55] is not doing enough. [01:57] >> You know, allies are people who stand [02:00] with you in your time of need. Israel [02:01] and the United States have stood over [02:03] the last three years against the [02:06] greatest evil in in the modern era [02:08] against Iran who's set to destroy [02:10] Israel, launch ballistic missiles at [02:12] Israel, have developed ballistic missile [02:14] capability that can reach London and [02:16] Israel and the United States are [02:17] fighting them alone. The very time that [02:19] this happens, the Labor government [02:22] decides to condemn Israel, sanction Jews [02:25] living in Judea, to engage in an arms [02:28] embargo against the Israeli people when [02:31] we are fighting for our lives after [02:33] October 7th. This is not really how an [02:36] ally behaves. And you know, I remember [02:38] the days, Yela, back when England was [02:40] really the symbol of the entire world. [02:42] And if anyone out there remembers those [02:44] times, you stood alone in the face of [02:47] evil and protected the free world. And I [02:49] just want to say that [02:51] I'm just finishing in one second. We [02:53] feel that we are standing alone with the [02:56] United States against the evil of the [02:58] world, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. And [03:00] we would expect gratitude and support. [03:04] I I I know these talking points, but I [03:06] just want you to focus on the violence [03:08] that's taking place uh in the West Bank. [03:10] And and it might not just be, you know, [03:13] these 12 nations who are who are [03:15] condemning it and talking about the [03:16] level of violence that has continued to [03:18] escalate year on year, including this [03:21] year being amongst the worst when it [03:22] comes to violence. We're also talking [03:24] about commanders for for Israel's [03:26] security, a group of 550 retired [03:29] generals, intelligence chiefs, and [03:31] diplomats who have said there'd be [03:33] severe ramifications for both Israeli [03:35] security and US regional interests if [03:38] this settler violence continues. Other [03:41] Israelis like the former minister of [03:42] health and retired brigadier general [03:44] from the IDF, Ephraim Snare, he has said [03:47] this is ethnic cleansing to put it [03:50] simply. Your reaction to that? [03:52] It's funny that you say that you've [03:54] heard my talking points before. I've [03:56] heard your talking points before. As a [03:57] matter of fact, they repeat themselves [03:59] and they cycle through the media. It's [04:00] always a rhyme snake who's an outdated [04:03] military member of the state of Israel [04:05] no one has ever heard about for decades. [04:06] Or I'm surprised you didn't say uh Almer [04:08] who's a failed prime minister who sat in [04:10] jail. I mean, it's the exact same [04:12] people, 550 commanders. Well, I live in [04:14] a country of 10 million people. Almost [04:17] all of us are serving in the army. And [04:18] we can all tell you that the only ethnic [04:21] cleansing that's taking place is the [04:23] same ethnic cleansing that is seeping [04:25] its way into England is the ethnic [04:27] cleansing that came across our border on [04:29] October 7th. It is the ethnic cleansing [04:31] of Turkey calling for spent the last [04:34] wait if you if I can't speak then I no [04:37] you can you can sir but I want you to [04:39] focus and Iran but I want you to talk I [04:42] I don't want to talk about you know Iran [04:45] right now. I want to talk about what [04:47] these sanctions are focused on and [04:49] they're focused on this the one of the [04:51] major reasons is the settler violence in [04:53] the West Bank. That's why they've put [04:55] these trade trade sanctions in place. [04:58] That's why the foreign secretary is [05:00] describing it as ethnic cleansing. As I [05:02] said, leading Israelis have have [05:04] described it as as an attempt at ethnic [05:06] cleansing. And according to channel for [05:09] uh channel 12 um news which is an [05:13] Israeli channel, they reported that the [05:15] most senior Israeli Defense Forces [05:17] officer in the West Bank has warned [05:19] behind closed doors to the prime [05:21] minister that that um there has been a [05:25] significant decline in the scale of [05:27] Palestinian terrorism over the past two [05:29] years. But there is one match that could [05:31] ignite everything in an instant and [05:33] that's nationalist crime. He's referring [05:35] to the settler violence. [05:39] >> Is Is that a question or a statement? [05:40] >> It's it's a statement because I'm you're [05:42] it sounds like you came prepared your [05:45] prepared [05:47] your I'm not sure what I'm doing here. [05:48] If you if you dismissing the 550 [05:52] officials bad because you're only [05:54] talking to the handful of Israelis [05:55] because we live in a free country that [05:57] feel open to condemning Israel and all [06:00] of Israel's friends. I I have news. I [06:02] have news for you. You're dismissing. [06:03] >> There are there are about 2.5 million [06:06] people living in Judea and Samaria. [06:07] Okay. There are 550,000 Jews and around [06:10] 2 million Arabs living in Judea and [06:12] Samaria. And there is some crime on the [06:14] Jewish side which we condemn. And there [06:16] is a tsunami of terrorism on the Arab [06:20] side. I didn't hear you say. [06:21] >> So So you dismissed Hang on a second. [06:24] I'm I'm I'm literally quoting a senior [06:26] Israeli defense. [06:27] >> I'm sorry. not saying the talking points [06:29] that you had if you but you're not [06:30] you're not responding to the question [06:33] over he'll agree with you because [06:34] because that's what he does but I'm [06:36] actually trying to present my side and [06:37] the side of the state of Israel but [06:39] you're dismissing the national security [06:43] trying to reveal who are trying to raise [06:45] the alarm [06:47] there is a reason why 12 of your um [06:50] international allies have come out and [06:52] put trade sanctions in place and are [06:54] describing the situation in the West [06:56] Bank as ethnic cleansing [06:58] And the questions that are being asked, [07:00] why is the Israeli government not doing [07:02] enough to put a stop to the violence in [07:05] the West Bank? That is at the core of [07:07] this. [07:09] >> Again, I will go back to what I said to [07:11] you before. There is crime in every city [07:13] in the world. As a matter of fact, the [07:15] crime rate in Judea and Samaria and all [07:18] crime we have come out against and and [07:20] we have condemned all crime. The crime [07:22] rate in Judea and Samaria is 1.8 per [07:25] 10,000 people. Do you know what it is in [07:27] London? It's over seven. The crime rate [07:30] in Judea and Samaria is 1 point. I wish [07:33] it was Palestinians, but unfortunately [07:35] we haven't managed to lower managed to [07:38] lower the crime rate to zero expansion. [07:41] Can you imagine if I said you [07:46] murder I would never say it to you [07:47] because it's not true. The 12 M 50 [07:50] countries I can tell you sometimes when [07:53] you do what you want it. Excuse me. [07:55] Sometimes when you are defending [07:57] yourself in Israel, Israel is.3 of 1% of [08:00] the Middle East surrounded by Iran, [08:02] surrounded by Hezbollah and Hamas, [08:04] fighting for its life. None of those 12 [08:06] countries has joined the fight against [08:07] evil. Almost all of those 12 countries [08:10] have their own internal problems as do [08:12] you in England. And of course is no [08:14] secret. I know you don't want to [08:15] >> I'm not I'm not a British expert, but [08:17] every [08:18] >> I know you you don't want to address [08:21] there's a labor convention at the end of [08:22] this month and that they're trying to [08:24] court voters in your country. But the [08:26] fact is British people who I love [08:28] because I'm half my my children are half [08:30] British. The British people are allowed [08:33] to influence inside their country have [08:36] to be accommodated by speaking about how [08:38] Israel is bad instead of facing the [08:40] actual problem in your midst and re and [08:43] returning the British strength to stand [08:46] up in the face of evil. This is not [08:48] about Israel. [08:48] >> But I'm just trying to put to you what [08:50] the government is saying. And one of the [08:51] points they say is the the government of [08:53] Israel must immediately halt the [08:55] expansion of settlements and civilian [08:57] administrative powers, ensure [08:59] accountability for settler violence and [09:01] investigate allegations against Israeli [09:03] forces. [09:04] >> What what government said this? [09:06] >> The the the British government said this [09:08] as part of their their [09:11] countries in the Middle East. Why is the [09:13] government of Israel, why is the [09:15] government of England telling the only [09:17] democracy in the Middle East, Israel, [09:19] what we should do in our ancestral home? [09:21] Because the international focus on their [09:23] own expansion of these settlements is [09:26] against international and Ed Milliban [09:28] have a major problem with their [09:30] mid-elections that is coming up and they [09:32] are trying to be more consiliatory to a [09:35] certain electorate in your country than [09:38] the Greens and then everybody else and [09:39] they want to try to throw Israel under [09:41] the bus. The timing here is obvious. We [09:43] can all see through it. It's completely [09:44] transparent. I suggest that England, [09:46] which is a growing problem that has had [09:49] 25 attempted mass casualty terror [09:51] attacks by the IRGC. We've had we've had [09:54] Jews die in Manchester. You have things [09:56] coming out of your mosques that talk [09:58] about overthrowing England and you know [10:00] it in your homes. I suggest the British [10:02] people remember who they were. You may [10:05] still have a chance to save your [10:07] beautiful country. Stop focusing on [10:09] Israel. for building on our homeland and [10:10] focusing on your own land because it's [10:12] important to the world. Go back to being [10:15] British. Go back to being leaders of the [10:17] free world and don't condemn and [10:19] sanction the people who are trying to [10:20] stand against evil. [10:21] >> All right. So, this is a man who I know [10:25] relatively well. Uh he is the incredible [10:28] Doron Spielman. He is somebody who just [10:31] joined actually Prime Minister [10:33] Netanyahu's cabinet I believe and now [10:37] he's representing the government and [10:39] formerly he was an incredible advocate [10:41] for Israel. Now he's directly ad still [10:44] advocating but directly through the [10:46] prime minister's office as far as I [10:48] understand and he is somebody who is [10:51] great because he's you know speaking to [10:52] English audience as well. Um he's been [10:55] on Piers Morgan a bunch of times. I [10:57] salute him for trying to, you know, go [11:00] to this hostile press and defend the [11:03] settlements. And I think that, you know, [11:05] something that a lot of these people do [11:07] when defending the settlements, like [11:10] these Israelis, these talking heads, you [11:13] know, they'll at the same time say like, [11:15] "Oh, it's just a few people." Or, you [11:17] know, more so they'll be like, "Hey, you [11:20] know, you know, yeah, th those guys are [11:21] bad. You know, those guys are bad, but [11:23] you know, we're the good ones, right? [11:25] We're the good Jews. And I think that [11:28] Don and a lot of, you know, very [11:30] right-wing advocates in Israel have [11:32] understood that that doesn't exist [11:34] anymore, right? That there's no like, [11:36] oh, you know, he's the boogeyman. Go [11:38] after him. I'm I'm the good lefty Jew. [11:42] Um, you know, I think that Netanyahu and [11:45] a lot of the right-wing block are [11:47] understanding that you kind of just have [11:49] to say we don't care, right? Like this [11:53] is what we're doing. and and those [11:54] hilltop youth and those people going and [11:57] taking land and making sure that Israel [11:59] is secure, that's actually a good thing [12:02] because if not them taking the land, the [12:05] Arabs are going to be taking land, [12:07] right? If we don't set a boundary, they [12:10] are going to come in here and take it [12:12] piece by piece. That is that is the [12:14] reality, right? You they are on the [12:16] front lines. The war isn't only [12:19] happening [12:20] in the battle in Gaza. The war is [12:22] happening inside of Israel in the West [12:24] Bank in Judea and Samaria, right? That [12:27] that is currently on the ground. There [12:30] are people fighting over land. There are [12:32] people fighting literally [12:35] with torches torching Israeli farmers, [12:38] Israeli farmers land. And you need those [12:41] people. You need hilltop youth. You need [12:43] young people to go out and fight back. I [12:45] know family members that have gone uh to [12:48] these hilltops and or that have gone to [12:51] these communities rather and and had to [12:54] deal with terrible violence from Arabs [12:56] and Palestinians and they are heroically [13:01] pushing them back and heroically taking [13:03] a stand and saying you can't do this in [13:05] our neighborhood. And I'm grateful to [13:07] people like Don for going on online and [13:10] not going and saying, "Oh, yeah, that's [13:13] bad, but you know, you shouldn't look [13:15] over there." Or, you know, you know, [13:17] that's bad, but look at X, Y, and Z. No, [13:20] that's actually something that we [13:22] applaud in a way, right? And yeah, he [13:24] didn't go all the way. You know, [13:25] obviously he he has to maintain a level [13:28] of professionalism, so to speak, but uh [13:31] he definitely didn't push them down as [13:33] previously many Israeli spokesman or [13:36] spokespeople would. Thank you for [13:38] watching and I'll see you in the next
