The United States, under President Donald Trump, has convened a major international conference, inviting 70 countries to discuss sending foreign troops into Gaza. The stated goal is to police Hamas and prevent it from rearming. But when you look closer, the reality appears far more concerning. At the same time, the U.S. is in talks to sell F-35 fighter jets to multiple Arab countries, a move that has reportedly angered Israel, while Iran continues issuing open threats of war. All of this is happening as Israel remains in a fragile ceasefire with Hamas, holding parts of Gaza as a security zone. Over 45 countries reportedly attended the Doha conference, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, EU nations, the UK, Canada, and others. Immediately, red flags went up. Many of these countries have seen rising radicalization and antisemitic violence in recent years. After October 7th, large mobs in several of these nations openly called for the destruction of Israel. Many have also pushed for the creation of a Palestinian state even after Hamas’ atrocities. Worse still, many of the participating nations are members of the International Criminal Court, which has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant—warrants Israel recently failed to overturn. According to reports, 19 countries have pledged troops or logistical support. But here’s the catch: they are only willing to deploy forces in areas of Gaza controlled by Israel, not Hamas. That means foreign troops wouldn’t be policing terrorists—they would be monitoring and constraining the IDF. Tensions between Washington and Jerusalem are already growing over ceasefire enforcement, as Israel has been criticized for neutralizing terrorists who crossed agreed security lines. Add to this looming foreign troop deployments, major U.S. arms sales in the region, and explicit Iranian threats, and it’s becoming clear that Israel may be entering an even more dangerous and unstable phase than before.
