Transcript [00:00] You may have heard British Foreign [00:01] Secretary Ed Milliband use a dangerous [00:03] liel of ethnic cleansing to justify [00:05] unfair sanctions targeting Israeli Jews. [00:07] >> The British government agrees that there [00:09] is ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in [00:11] areas of the West Bank. [00:12] >> But where does it come from? Ethnic [00:14] cleansing describes a systematic process [00:16] of removing an ethnic group of people [00:17] from a specific piece of land. Key [00:19] examples throughout history would be the [00:21] expulsion of indigenous tribes in the [00:23] western territories of the United [00:24] States, explosion of Bosnjaks from [00:26] territory conquered by the Serbs in the [00:28] 1990s, and the expulsion of 850,000 [00:30] Misrai Jews from Arab and Muslim [00:32] countries following the 1948 war. This [00:35] term has been weaponized against Israel [00:37] to falsely claim that the same process [00:39] is taking place in the context of the [00:41] Israeli Palestinian conflict. This [00:43] ignores the reality that the Arab [00:44] population has increased both within the [00:46] borders of the state of Israel as well [00:48] as within the Palestinian territories of [00:49] Gaza and the West Bank. Unfortunately, [00:51] the same cannot be said for the Jewish [00:53] population of the Palestinian [00:54] territories where it is illegal to sell [00:56] land to a Jew and punishable by [00:58] imprisonment according to the recognized [01:00] Palestinian Authority. Others falsely [01:02] claim ethnic cleansing is taking place [01:04] in Gaza, specifically in the context of [01:06] evacuated areas. This shows the extent [01:08] of the double standard in which the IDF [01:10] evacuates civilians from areas being [01:12] used for terror purposes to protect [01:14] their lives at the expense of Israeli [01:16] soldiers battlefield advantage. Rather [01:18] than recognizing the value of this [01:20] humanitarian action, Israel is demonized [01:22] while Hamas is let off the hook for [01:24] building terror bases in civilian areas, [01:27] a clear violation of international law. [01:29] Next time you hear this false narrative, [01:30] call out the double standard.
