Transcript [00:00] Oh, hey, look. Protests are happening in [00:02] France. Surely you'll see the French [00:03] flag being waved around, right? Nope. [00:06] Instead, you see a whole lot of this. [00:08] And with it, you also see things like [00:10] this. A nearly 150-year-old historic [00:12] building going up in flames, small [00:14] businesses completely ransacked, [00:17] devastated owners left to pick up the [00:18] pieces, and historic monuments being [00:21] vandalized. Complete and utter chaos. [00:25] But this is a student protest. Yes, [00:27] because look at all of these French high [00:30] schoolers. Don't they just look like the [00:32] next generation of upstanding French [00:34] citizens? And notably, they're flying [00:36] the Palestinian flag. So, what does a [00:38] war thousands of miles away have to do [00:40] with so-called student protests in [00:42] France? Nothing. That's the point. And [00:45] that's what we've been trying to tell [00:46] you for years. These riots are flooded [00:49] with extremists who seek to eradicate [00:51] Israel and fundamentally destroy the [00:53] very principles Western civilization was [00:56] built on. And here's the problem. When [00:58] so-called leaders look the other way in [01:00] the name of humanitarian protection, [01:02] multiculturalism, intersectionality, and [01:05] let's not forget anticolonialism. [01:08] What happens? The people wreaking havoc [01:10] get a free pass while ordinary citizens [01:13] are left to deal with the destruction. [01:15] And France is seeing the direct result [01:17] of those consequences because President [01:19] Mcron recognized a Palestinian state [01:22] last September. And yet that hasn't put [01:24] an end to the unrest that we're seeing. [01:26] And don't think that this is just [01:27] happening in France. Remember what [01:28] happened in Washington DC? American [01:30] flags were burned, monuments vandalized, [01:33] and complete chaos in the streets. And [01:35] remember the encampments that took over [01:37] college campuses across America. Jewish [01:39] students harassed and intimidated. Some [01:41] weren't even going safely to classes. [01:44] and Ivy League presidents couldn't give [01:46] a straight answer when asked about [01:48] whether calling for the genocide of Jews [01:51] violated their campus policies. This [01:53] isn't just about France. We've already [01:55] seen what happens when protests become [01:56] an excuse for destruction, [01:58] anti-semitism, and the glorification of [02:00] terrorism. And if we keep making excuses [02:03] for the people responsible, we're going [02:05] to keep seeing the consequences. Because [02:07] protecting freedom doesn't mean giving [02:09] extremists a free pass to destroy [02:12] everything around them. And ordinary [02:14] citizens shouldn't have to live in fear [02:16] just because extremists want to call [02:18] destruction activism.
Palestinian flags flying. Buildings burning. Historic monuments vandalized.
The scenes of unrest in Paris raise a troubling question: What happens when protests cross the line into destruction?
From Paris to American college campuses, Olivia examines the consequences of protest-related violence, antisemitism, and the failure to protect Jewish communities.
