Transcript [00:00] Hey everyone. So, there's been uh some [00:02] activity, some kind of escalation [00:04] activity, uh you could call it in Syria. [00:06] You might have heard that the other day [00:08] Israel carried out a bombing operation [00:10] against an airfield in Syria. And that's [00:12] what we're going to talk about in this [00:13] video. We're going to talk about [00:14] everything going on between Israel and [00:16] Syria right now. And of course, as [00:18] always, it involves Turkey. So, let's [00:20] just get right to the headlines. Don't [00:22] Netanyahu says he warned Turkey before [00:25] Israel struck Syrian base. Prime [00:28] Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted on [00:30] Wednesday that Israel had already warned [00:32] Turkey against any military activity in [00:36] Syria before Israel bombed an air base [00:38] that Ankara had been eyeing while [00:41] sources told Reuters that the Mossad [00:43] chief discussed the issue last week with [00:46] the Syrian foreign minister. Speaking in [00:48] a podcast interview a day after Israel [00:50] struck a military air base in northwest [00:53] Syria, Netanyahu said that Israel will [00:55] not tolerate a Turkish military buildup [00:58] that descends south because it threatens [01:02] us, warning Turkey against such military [01:04] activity in Syria. Netanyahu simply [01:06] said, "Don't in English." The message [01:09] was conveyed, but apparently they didn't [01:11] hear it, so we made sure they understood [01:13] it more clearly, he added. Meanwhile, [01:15] three people familiar with the matter [01:17] told Reuters on Wednesday that Mossad [01:19] Chief Raman Goffman held a phone call [01:22] last week with Syrian Foreign Minister [01:24] Assad al-Shibani in which they discussed [01:28] Turkeykey's military presence in Syria. [01:30] The call, which the sources said took [01:32] place on August 14th, marks one of the [01:34] highest level contacts yet between [01:37] Israel and the new Syrian government [01:38] since the fall of former dictator Bashar [01:40] al-Assad in December 2024. Now, this is [01:43] actually quite significant. It's not a [01:45] small detail. I'm happy they included it [01:47] in this news item. If the head of the [01:49] Mossad is talking to the Syrian foreign [01:54] minister, that means that Israel is [01:57] making it very clear that this is a very [01:59] serious issue. Uh meaning Turkeykey's [02:02] foreign uh Turkeykey's military presence [02:05] in Syria. Think of what goes into [02:07] setting up a call like that. the head of [02:09] the Mossad talking to the Syrian foreign [02:11] minister and they're making it public [02:12] that the conversation was held. Uh and [02:15] you got to remember this this Syrian [02:17] government is not doesn't recognize [02:19] Israel really. It's not we don't really [02:21] have we don't have any kind of [02:22] diplomatic relations. [02:25] It so I think that's actually [02:26] significant in terms of how seriously [02:27] Israel takes this threat. Both Turkey [02:30] and Syria reacted angrily to the air [02:32] strike which Damascus said caused [02:34] material damage but no casualties. The [02:36] strike was also condemned by US [02:38] Ambassador Tom Barrick who called it an [02:40] unnecessary escalation. That does not [02:42] mean that this was the US position. In [02:44] fact, the Israelis later said that Prime [02:47] Minister Netanyahu's office said that [02:48] they had actually uh briefed the [02:51] Americans on the situation in advance. [02:53] So, it could be that Barack wasn't [02:55] involved in the conversation or, you [02:59] know, it's hard to it's hard to say. I [03:01] don't know if Tom Bareric was speaking [03:02] on his own behalf. We know that Tom [03:05] Barrick is very close to Erdogan and he [03:07] has actually been [03:10] a source of some a lot of the [03:12] questionable decisions that the United [03:15] States has made visav Syria and the [03:18] Middle East in general can be traced to [03:20] Tom Barrick. That's a whole other topic [03:22] that we're not going to get into right [03:23] now. Condemning the strike, Syria's [03:26] foreign ministry said that it has [03:27] exercised restraint and worked to [03:29] consolidate stability and avoid [03:31] escalation despite tensions between the [03:33] neighbors, in particular over the [03:34] presence of Israeli troops in southern [03:36] Syria buffer zone. Israel and Syria's [03:39] new authorities have held several rounds [03:41] of direct talks and have agreed to [03:43] establish an intelligence sharing [03:44] mechanism. But Israel has repeatedly [03:46] raised the alarm about an entrenched [03:48] Turkish presence in Syria. And in a [03:51] statement Tuesday, Netanyahu's office [03:52] asserted that Turkish troops were [03:54] allowed to deploy at the air at the air [03:57] base, breaching an agreed upon status [03:59] quo. So what happened here is that [04:00] Israel warned Turkey, they warned Syria [04:03] that they will not allow a Turkish [04:06] presence in Syria. They will not allow a [04:07] Turkish presence in a country that [04:09] borders us. Turkeykey's been very uh [04:12] open about its hostility towards Israel, [04:14] and Israel is simply not going to allow [04:15] that to happen. Israel quote repeatedly [04:18] warned Syria that such a deployment [04:19] would pose a threat to Israel's security [04:22] and Syria chose to ignore these [04:24] warnings. [04:26] Uh so that's the that's the background [04:28] of this, but there's a lot more to say. [04:30] I'm going to link this back to something [04:32] that uh you know all the way back to [04:34] something that happened about a year ago [04:35] in Syria that relates to that relates [04:38] also to Iran. So stay with me here. [04:40] Let's just get through some of the [04:41] details of this. And here's the reaction [04:43] from Turkey. Ankura rejects Israeli [04:46] allegations on air base, but Syrian [04:48] officials confirm Turkish visit. Turkey [04:50] firmly rejected on Wednesday what it [04:52] called untenable allegations by by [04:54] Israel regarding its military position [04:56] in Syria. They're denying that they are [04:59] u that they are creating a Turkish [05:02] military presence in Syria, which is [05:04] ridiculous. Turkeykey's Turkey has a [05:07] military presence in Syria, and they've [05:08] been trying to build one there for a [05:10] long time. I'll get into that soon. This [05:12] is not the first time that Israel has [05:14] struck a a a Turkish [05:20] potential position in Syria. I'll I'll [05:22] explain in a moment. [05:25] First, let's get through this incident. [05:28] So Turkey So Turkey formally rejected [05:30] this [05:32] and [05:35] yeah two officials who spoke on [05:37] condition of anonymity because they were [05:39] not authorized to comment publicly said [05:41] the Turkish delegation had visited the [05:44] air base. These are two Syrian officials [05:46] had visited the air base in northwestern [05:47] province of Idlib on Monday to review [05:50] rehabilitation work underway at the [05:52] facility. So these two Syrian officials [05:54] who remained anonymous spilled the beans [05:57] that the that the Turks actually were [05:59] there inspecting the air base on Monday. [06:04] And Turkey says, "Wow, we have nothing [06:05] to do with this." It was the first [06:07] confirmation of a Turkish presence at [06:08] the Abu Dhur base. IDF Chief of Staff [06:12] Lieutenant General Ayal Zamir visited [06:14] troops in the Israel held buffer zone in [06:16] in southern Syria Wednesday morning. [06:19] That's also sending a message. The day [06:21] after Israel strikes this this base in [06:23] Syria, the chief of staff of the IDF [06:26] goes into the Israeli held buffer zone [06:29] in South Syria to and of course makes it [06:31] public. Remember a visit by the chief of [06:34] staff to these to these positions in [06:37] southern Syria could have happened [06:39] without it being made public or it [06:41] didn't need to happen at all [06:42] necessarily. You could send some other [06:43] general. When the chief of staff goes [06:45] there and makes it public, they're [06:46] making a statement. So, Israel goes into [06:48] southern Syria, uh, I'm sorry, Israel [06:50] bombs this basin in northwestern Syria, [06:53] and then the next day the chief of staff [06:54] shows up in southern Syria as a way of [06:56] saying, "We're not going anywhere." But [06:57] what did he say? Israel will not allow [06:59] hostile forces to establish themselves [07:02] along our borders. In other words, what [07:04] he's doing here the day after the [07:06] strikes in northern Syria is he's [07:08] connecting our presence in the buffer [07:10] zone to those strikes and he's saying [07:12] it's coming from the same it's coming [07:15] from the same policy that we will not [07:17] allow hostile forces to establish [07:19] themselves along our borders. So if you [07:21] want us out of southern Syria, [07:24] the last thing you should be doing, [07:25] meaning it's a message to the Syrians, [07:27] if you want us to withdraw from south [07:28] from southern Syria, from this buffer [07:30] zone, the last thing you should be doing [07:32] is allowing the Turks to come in and [07:34] build military installations and have an [07:36] air base on your territory. Okay? We're [07:39] not going anywhere so long as there are [07:42] threats. That's the point. Quote, "We [07:44] see what is happening and and are [07:46] monitoring the changes on the Syrian [07:48] front. We must prepare for them [07:50] accordingly." Zamir said um we will not [07:53] allow hostile forces to establish [07:55] themselves along our borders and we will [07:57] know how to use our power precisely when [07:59] it is needed where it is needed and when [08:02] it is needed. Ankura Turkey has been [08:04] training Syria's army helping it rebuild [08:07] its state institutions and [08:08] infrastructure and providing military [08:10] and diplomatic support. [08:12] Okay. Now here at the Alma Center I've [08:15] used the Alma Cent's material before. [08:17] The Alma Center is a think tank, a [08:18] research and education center that [08:20] focuses on Israel's north and the [08:23] northern threats. So they focus on [08:24] Lebanon, Syria. That's what they're all [08:26] about. So they did a piece. I [08:28] immediately went to Alma to see what [08:29] they had to say about this. And they did [08:30] a piece air strike on Abu Aluhur air [08:33] base. First of all, let me show you [08:35] where that is on a map. Here's a map of [08:36] Syria. [08:38] Okay, this is Syria. Here's Israel. [08:41] Here's the Golan Heights. And here's [08:42] this whole thing here is Syria. Syria's [08:44] big country. See this is all Syria [08:47] and here's Lebanon down here and the [08:51] border between Lebanon and Syria is [08:53] here. You see see how uh how far up [08:55] north we are. So this is quite far from [08:57] Israel. [08:59] This is quite far from Israel. All the [09:00] way up north here. This is where the air [09:01] base was. And here is the Turkish border [09:04] up along the top here. Okay, this is the [09:05] Turkish border. But here's the base Abu [09:08] Adur. Okay, Abu Adur. So it's near [09:11] Aleppo right here. [09:14] All right. So, it's quite near to the [09:15] Turkish border. So, let's So, at Alma, [09:18] they said as follows. According to [09:19] several reports from August 18th, four [09:22] waves of air strikes hit the runway and [09:24] possibly several warehouses at the air [09:26] base. [09:28] Um, the pattern of strikes closely [09:31] resembles some of the Israeli Air [09:32] Force's attacks against military [09:33] airfields in Syria during the Assad [09:36] regime. Those airfields form part of the [09:38] infrastructure used by the Shiite axis [09:40] within the weapons transfer corridor [09:43] running through Syria to Lebanon. Oh, [09:48] those airfields form part of the [09:50] infrastructure used by the Shiite axis [09:53] within the weapons transfer corridor [09:55] running through from Syria through Syria [09:58] to Lebanon. Let me explain this. Okay, [10:01] here's Lebanon. Here's Syria. Here's [10:03] Iraq. Here's Iran. Okay, this air base [10:08] meaning this area here [10:10] or what they're saying is [10:15] that the airfields [10:18] were part of the the weapons shipment [10:21] corridor [10:23] bringing weapons to the Shiite militias [10:25] meaningbala. [10:28] Now, right now, Iran is is potentially [10:31] going down, [10:33] but the so the air base, it's not just [10:36] about uh Turkish air force being there. [10:41] It's about this air base being this [10:43] airfield being rehabilitated. This isn't [10:45] a a uh civilian airport we're talking [10:47] about. [10:49] This could become a shipping hub for [10:51] weapons if it gets operational. We know [10:55] that Naim Kasam, the head [10:57] ofahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah [10:58] and ahmed Ashara the head of Syria even [11:00] though they've been mortal enemies in [11:02] the past have started uh courting each [11:05] other started talking about having [11:06] conversations [11:08] and it's entirely possible that there [11:10] will be some rapant between them that [11:13] could end up uh or as the Iranian regime [11:17] maybe collapses or atrophies we could [11:20] see Turkey stepping in to help arm and [11:23] stay and stay solvent [11:26] in terms of weapons, not and maybe money [11:28] as well. So, we have what to worry about [11:31] from this base beyond there simply being [11:33] Turkish troops there and the possibility [11:35] of a strike. But there's also the issue [11:36] of air defenses. We'll get to that in a [11:38] moment. [11:40] And then it talks about the area where [11:41] it is. And [11:44] it's worth recalling reports of Turkish [11:46] plans to deploy air defense systems in [11:49] Syria. [11:51] Huh. Interesting. Let me explain this. [11:53] So, this is, [11:57] you know, I'm I'm going to drop the rest [11:58] of this article because it's just a lot [11:59] of details about um you know, uh about [12:03] the about the air base, the Assad [12:05] regime, but it doesn't it's it doesn't [12:07] necessarily teach us more about this [12:08] incident. So, I'm going to I'm going to [12:10] save a little time and drop the rest of [12:11] that article. You can go check it out [12:13] yourself. Go to the Alma Center and [12:15] check out what's on their website. But, [12:16] let me explain something here. Um, [12:20] back in the 12-day war, this is an [12:23] article I pulled up on the screen here [12:24] from July 2025. It's over a year old. [12:28] Israeli military preparing enforcement [12:30] plan to ensure Iran no longer threatens [12:32] Israel. Very nice. This is right after [12:33] the 12-day war. Look at what he says [12:36] here. Um, [12:40] the Israeli military is preparing an [12:41] enforcement plan to ensure that Iran [12:43] cannot return to threaten Israel. What [12:46] does this have to do with at this time [12:49] here? [12:50] He said the military must be prepared [12:52] both in intelligence and operations to [12:54] ensure Israel has air superiority to [12:57] prevent tan from reestablishing its [12:58] previous capabilities. Reuters reported. [13:00] Okay. What is this about? [13:03] In the 12-day war, [13:06] a couple days into it, Israel achieved [13:09] full air superiority over Iran, but [13:12] really over the entire Middle East. And [13:14] Israel [13:16] created this corridor. The way that the [13:19] Israeli air force attacked Iran in the [13:21] Iran war, let me pull back the camera a [13:23] little bit more. Is that the Israeli [13:26] jets would fly up through Syria, through [13:28] Iraq, and into Iran. They didn't cut [13:31] across Jordan. They went into Syria, [13:32] across Iraq, into Iran. That was how the [13:35] air strikes on Thran were taking place. [13:37] That was the flight path. And you might [13:40] remember that at the end of 2024, let's [13:43] say half a year or so before the 12-day [13:46] war was when the Assad regime fell in [13:49] Syria. And right after the Assad regime [13:52] fell, Israel went in on this massive [13:54] bombing campaign and destroyed the the [13:58] Syrian military. They destro and [14:00] especially they destroyed all of the air [14:02] defenses. [14:04] This wasn't just about getting rid of [14:06] the Syrian army so that whoever came [14:07] next didn't have an army. It was about [14:10] that, too. But it was, in retrospect, [14:13] one of the primary goals of getting rid [14:15] of all the air defenses in Syria was to [14:18] clear this corridor so that Israel could [14:21] attack Iran. They were preparing for the [14:23] 12-day war. They were preparing for a [14:25] war with the Iranian regime. And then a [14:28] few days into the war, we get this. [14:30] Well, it was actually mentioned during [14:32] the war and this is a story I dug up [14:34] from last year from right after it. But [14:36] what happened in a number of statements, [14:37] the Israeli defense minister, Israel [14:39] Katz said that once Israel achieved this [14:43] air dominance, destroying all the air [14:45] defenses in in Iran and along the way in [14:48] this corridor, that the plan was to [14:50] maintain this air dominance long term so [14:53] that Israel would have freedom of [14:54] operation to be able to carry out [14:56] strikes in Iran unimpeded into the [14:58] future. [15:00] In September, a few months after the [15:03] 12-day war, almost a year ago, there was [15:06] a uh an event that took place that was [15:10] reported almost nowhere. I saw it on an [15:12] open- source intelligence website called [15:15] nitsieve.net. Very reliable stuff. They [15:17] just pull information from all sorts of [15:19] other places that aren't really reported [15:20] much. And they reported on an incident [15:23] where the Israelis carried out air [15:26] strikes in Syria. Now the air strikes [15:28] were were covered but no one talked [15:30] about what was hit. It was just that [15:32] Israel has carried out air strikes in [15:33] Syria which was a sort of common thing [15:35] at the time. So no one really paid [15:36] attention to what was hit. But these [15:38] particular air strikes took out an air [15:41] defense system [15:43] u anti-aircraft air defense system that [15:46] was set that was being installed in [15:49] Syria by the Turks. [15:52] And while it was being installed Israel [15:54] went in and destroyed it. And at the [15:57] time that that happened, I thought to [15:58] myself, "Oh, this is interesting. This [16:00] is Israel enforcing their air dominance [16:02] and making sure that they maintain their [16:04] air dominance over the region." So now [16:08] this attack uh of this week attacking [16:11] this air base here is really just [16:14] continuing the same doctrine. And [16:16] Israel's defense doctrine, I've talked [16:18] about this many times, Israel's defense [16:19] doctrine globally in all fronts, has [16:22] changed since October 7th in a very [16:25] significant way. Before October 7th, [16:28] going all the way back to the 1970s, [16:30] Israel's defense doctrine was [16:33] based on an assessment of our enemy's uh [16:37] motives. Are they deterred? Are they [16:40] incentivized to attack us or not? and [16:44] international agreements could help us [16:47] and uh you know diplomacy could help us [16:51] and we could have other countries [16:52] guarantee our security UN peacekeeping [16:55] forces all of this Oslo this was all a [16:59] defense doctrine based on [17:01] um mitigating threats by through an [17:05] evaluation of our or a management of our [17:08] enemy's motives. Right? It's basically a [17:12] catchall for all of that all of that [17:14] foreign policy approach covering [17:18] 45 years [17:21] more after October 7th. No, about 45 [17:24] years. After October 7th, Israel's [17:26] defense uh doctrine has changed. It's [17:30] actually changed back to what it was in [17:31] the early years of the state, which is [17:33] that we only assess, [17:36] our only assessment of threats is based [17:39] on capabilities. If we see capabilities [17:41] that threaten us, we deal with them. And [17:44] it affects a lot of things beyond the [17:46] scope of this conversation right now. [17:47] But this is really Israel acting on that [17:50] on that doctrine. No one was attacking [17:52] Israel. Tom Barrett says, "Oh, this is a [17:54] needless escalation, right? Because it's [17:56] an escalation. What is why is Israel [17:57] attacking? No one was threatening them. [17:59] What are you doing? The Turks are fixing [18:00] up an air, you know, the Turks are [18:02] helping the Syrians or inspecting the [18:04] Syrians, you know, fixing up an airport [18:05] and Israel just comes in and destroys [18:07] it. Israel, the wararm mongers. No, [18:09] Israel is not going to allow any [18:12] capabilities that would threaten it to, [18:17] you know, to be uh installed in a way [18:21] that threatens Israel. Period. That's [18:22] what it's about. [18:25] And while we're on the topic of Syria, I [18:27] want to show you this. Syrian army [18:30] soldiers filmed chant chanting death [18:32] threats against Jews in Damascus. Here's [18:34] the here's the footage. [18:39] >> Gaza is our rallying cry. Bombing and [18:42] destruction we will not break. I am [18:44] coming for you, Jew. Jew, I'm coming for [18:47] you, Jew. I'm coming for you from the [18:50] mountain of fire. [18:52] I will make a weapon from my body. [18:56] >> With your blood, rivers flow with your [18:59] blood, Jews, right? Alawakbar, [19:01] Alawakbar, Alaw Akbar, etc. That's the [19:03] end of the video. So, these are our [19:06] lovely neighbors. And this is the Syrian [19:08] army. This isn't some some rogue [19:11] terrorist group. This is the Syrian army [19:14] talking about slaughtering Jews and [19:16] having the rivers of blood of Jews flow. [19:19] So yes, Israel's not going anywhere so [19:22] long as threats are being built up along [19:24] our borders. And in this piece about [19:27] about that incident, it's not that [19:28] noteworthy, but the Jerusalem Post dug a [19:30] little deeper into what's going on in [19:31] that country. And I want to read you an [19:34] excerpt from the piece here. [19:38] Dr. Zoe Leavornick, a a security [19:40] researcher at the Alma Research and [19:41] Education Center, describes the video as [19:43] concerning, liking it, likening it to [19:46] other videos where chance of Kaibar [19:47] Kaibar O Jews alongside Salafi jihadist [19:51] messages were documented. Kaibar is an [19:53] ancient slaughter of Jews that took [19:56] place in the time of Muhammad. [19:57] Muhammad's army slaughtered a Jewish [19:59] community in Kaibar. And uh it's a [20:01] common chant of jihadist groups when [20:04] they want when they want to talk about [20:06] their desire to slaughter Jews is [20:08] they'll is they'll chant Kaibar kar al [20:10] Yehud [20:12] ka kabar o Jews um and then something [20:15] like Allah's army is is coming to uh or [20:18] Muhammad's army is coming to you know to [20:20] get you to finish the job. So she said [20:22] this is kind of similar. The concern is [20:24] not only about statements made by [20:25] individual soldiers, but about the [20:27] people now receiving senior positions in [20:30] the military and security services, she [20:32] said, noting that the Alma Center has [20:35] previously reported that much of the new [20:36] SAA, the Syrian forces, the Syrian army, [20:40] came from HTS, Jabat al-Nusra, and other [20:43] jihadist organizations. HTS is an [20:46] offshoot of al-Qaeda, which was led by [20:49] none other than the current president, [20:50] Ahmed Ashara. All five commanders [20:53] designated to lead the new regional [20:55] corps have backgrounds in such [20:56] organizations. All five commanders [20:58] designated to lead the new Syrian army. [21:02] Right? The Americans like the new guy. [21:05] He's a good-looking guy, Trump said. [21:06] Right. All five commanders come from [21:09] jihadist terrorist organizations, [21:11] including the commander responsible for [21:13] southern Syria and the border with [21:15] Israel. [21:18] This is what's going on in Syria right [21:21] now, folks. So, yeah, things are kind of [21:25] escalating there. Let's do one more [21:26] headline. I'm not going to read you this [21:28] story. I'm just going to show you the [21:29] headline and then give you a summation [21:30] of it because it relates to what's going [21:32] on in Syria. This is also from the Alma [21:34] Center. The nuclear material remaining [21:36] in Syria, questions, risks, and [21:37] oversight challenges. You might have [21:38] heard this. This is from today. They [21:40] posted this today because there was this [21:43] weird news story about uh how it was [21:46] reported that the that um Syria and the [21:49] Well, I'll read you just this little [21:50] piece and then we'll I'll give you the [21:52] summation of the rest of the article [21:53] because a little too long to read that [21:56] um on August 18th, Syria and the IAEA, [21:59] the the International Atomic Energy [22:00] Agency, issued an official joint [22:02] statement presenting uh saying that that [22:05] nuclear material that was found in Syria [22:08] was declared by Damascus would remain in [22:10] Syrian custody and placed under [22:12] international safeguards. [22:15] Okay? And that was after it was reported [22:17] that the United States had reached an [22:18] understanding with Syria and Israel [22:20] under which this material would be [22:22] removed. Now, this isn't such [22:23] highlyenriched material, but it still [22:25] has all kinds of bad uses. Let me just [22:27] sum up what the rest of this article [22:28] says. [22:30] It basically it's this. Syria still has [22:32] leftover nuclear material in its [22:36] territory and nobody's totally sure what [22:38] happens to it next. Okay, so this is a [22:40] developing story really. And here's the [22:42] backstory. Back in the 2000s, Assad's [22:46] regime was secretly building a nuclear [22:48] reactor [22:49] at a place called Alibabar. And they [22:52] were being helped out by North Korea. [22:56] Israel bombed that facility in 2007 [23:00] before it ever went online. [23:03] Assad spent the next decade hiding the [23:05] evidence and stolen walling inspectors [23:08] after Israel bombed it. Fast forward [23:12] September of last year, September 2025, [23:14] the IAEA finds undeclared uranium [23:18] particles in Syria. Then in July of this [23:21] year, just last month, the new Alshara [23:24] government actually discloses more [23:27] previously hidden sites, including one [23:29] called site 99. That's the one that [23:31] everyone's talking about now near [23:32] Derzor. We're talking uranium, what's [23:36] called uranium yellow cake, sealed in [23:38] drum. So, it's not weapons grade. You [23:40] can't build a bomb with it, but it's [23:42] exactly what you'd want for a dirty bomb [23:44] that could spread radioactivity. It's [23:46] very dangerous bomb. And here's where [23:47] things get murky. [23:49] So, this what this is what I read in [23:51] those opening lines of this article. [23:54] Earlier this month, August 10th, reports [23:56] said that the US brokered a deal to get [23:58] this yellow cake, this dirty bomb [24:00] material out of Syria completely. Then, [24:03] just a couple days later, a few days [24:05] later, a joint Syria IAEA [24:09] statement suggested that it's actually [24:10] staying in Syrian custody. So, we have [24:13] mixed signals and no clear resolution to [24:15] what's going to happen to this nuclear [24:16] material that's in Syria. Now, why does [24:18] all this matter? Because Syria is not in [24:21] full control of its own territory right [24:23] now. You've got ISIS remnants, Iran [24:25] linked networks, criminal groups, and [24:27] even factions inside the new regime, [24:30] such as the military commanders who are [24:31] jihadists who are leading their soldiers [24:33] in chance about, you know, rivers of [24:37] Jewish blood flowing, who are working [24:39] for Ashara, who's trying to be moderate. [24:42] And this is all and this doesn't look if [24:44] Ashara goes get is actually moderate or [24:47] goes too far they could also take him [24:49] out. This is not a stable situation. And [24:51] meanwhile there's this nuclear material [24:53] floating around there. [24:55] So a lot of you know look again a lot of [24:58] the new security services are staffed by [25:00] former jihadist fighters. Former they're [25:03] just in a Syrian army uniform. And these [25:06] people are not exactly who you'd want as [25:08] custodians of nuclear material. So the [25:11] IAEA can inspect and monitor, but it's [25:13] not the IAEA is not a security force. [25:16] They can't physically stop the bad [25:19] actors in Syria from doing anything with [25:22] this stuff. That responsibility is with [25:25] the Syrian state. And the Syrian state [25:27] is run by an alqaeda ISIS alumnus. [25:32] So that's the issue here. Bottom line is [25:35] this, and this is from the Alma piece [25:37] from the analysts. This isn't about [25:39] Syria racing toward a nuclear weapon, [25:41] okay? They're not. They're nowhere near. [25:43] This isn't like, "Oh my gosh, we have [25:44] another a nuclear Iran situation." No, [25:46] that's not what it is. But it's about [25:48] what what happens to this material. Does [25:50] it get stolen? Does it get smuggled? [25:52] Does it get used for extortion? Does it [25:54] get used for terrorism? Dirty bomb [25:56] terrorism? And right now, this is a [25:59] let's call it a live risk. This [26:02] situation presents a kind of live risk. [26:05] That's what it says in this article. [26:07] Bottom line on this whole video is that [26:12] number one, the Syria situation is being [26:15] closely watched by Israel. Israel's [26:19] defense doctrine, which is that we will [26:20] neutralize threats based on capabilities [26:23] that we see being developed. And that's [26:25] what leads to Israel saying, "Get the [26:26] nuclear material out of there." and [26:28] looking at Turkey and saying, "Don't you [26:30] dare set a foot in Syri set foot in [26:31] Syria and build up uh some air base or [26:34] or or air defense or or air defenses [26:36] that would restrict our freedom of [26:38] action over the Middle East so we can [26:39] defend ourselves." And we're staying in [26:41] the buffer zone. So, this is Israel's [26:44] new posture on display. Okay. And [26:48] meanwhile uh we have uh we have a report [26:52] on the Syrian army being inter [26:55] internally being staffed by all the [26:57] senior commanders are former jihadists. [26:59] I mean current jihadists in Syrian army [27:01] uniforms. They're jihadists and they're [27:03] having their soldiers chant about [27:04] slaughtering Jews and creating rivers of [27:06] Jewish blood. [27:09] And the prime minister of Israel looking [27:11] at the Syrians saying you guys better [27:13] behave yourselves because we're not [27:14] going to take any funny business. And [27:16] meanwhile, we have this big question [27:17] about what happens to this nuclear [27:19] material that's floating around there. [27:20] Okay, so the Syria file is open, so to [27:24] speak. That's my update on the Syria [27:27] situation. I'll bring you more as the [27:29] story develops. God bless. Thanks for [27:31] watching. Make sure you're subscribed. [27:32] Make sure you're watching what we're [27:33] putting up on israel 365news.com. We [27:36] just had an I just put up a just today [27:38] we're putting up another episode of what [27:41] we're calling the big picture podcast, [27:42] my conversations with with Rabbi Rafi [27:44] Ice, which uh I've been really they're [27:46] good conversations. We kind of take a a [27:48] broader look at everything going on and [27:50] and even get into some culture and [27:51] politics on a kind of from like a more [27:54] of a bird's eye view uh level. And uh I [27:57] hope you'll enjoy them. So go check that [27:58] out. God bless.
