Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal — the Mount of Blessing and the Mount of Cursing — are two of the most important biblical sites in Samaria. This is where Jesus and His disciples traveled and where the story of the woman at the well happened. This is also where Joshua gathered the nation of Israel after they entered the Promised Land, read the blessings and curses of the covenant, and built an altar to God on Mount Ebal. In this episode, we travel deep into biblical Samaria, near modern-day Har Bracha and ancient Shechem, to stand between the mountains where Israel renewed their covenant with God nearly 3,500 years ago. We also visit the Samaritan community on Mount Gerizim, explore the ruins connected to the Samaritan temple, and travel to the site many believe is Joshua’s Altar on Mount Ebal. From the story of Abraham and the Oak of Moreh, to Joshua’s covenant ceremony, to Jesus speaking with the Samaritan woman at the well, this area is packed with biblical history. Today, the modern Jewish community of Har Bracha continues the story as Jewish families live, worship, plant vineyards, and raise children in the heart of the land God promised to Israel. The world calls this place the West Bank. The Bible calls it Samaria. 📖 Featured Scriptures: Joshua 8:30–35 Deuteronomy 11 Amos 9:14–15 John 4 In this video: – Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal explained – The biblical Mount of Blessing and Mount of Cursing – Joshua’s covenant ceremony with Israel – The possible site of Joshua’s Altar on Mount Ebal – The Samaritan village on Mount Gerizim – Har Bracha and the modern return of Israel to Samaria – Why Judea and Samaria matter biblically today If you believe the Bible and want to understand Israel through Scripture, this is one of the most powerful places you can visit.
