Gaza’s health ministry reported that about 50,000 babies were born in 2025, against roughly 24,000 deaths. Twice as many births as deaths is not what a population experiencing genocide looks like. The ministry is run by Hamas, the terrorist group that massacred, raped, and abducted civilians in Israel on October 7. Its figures don’t tell you which of the dead were civilians and which were terrorists. And they include about 5,800 people who died of natural causes unrelated to the war. So when major media outlets like Al Jazeera, Reuters, and CNN cite the toll, the real question is who produced the figure and who got counted in it. Presenter: @jacobgold
