Transcript [00:00] Every generation something comes up and [00:01] is used as an excuse to hide behind and [00:03] we Jews have made the mistake of like a [00:05] chameleon, okay, you hate me cuz um [00:09] different, cuz I look, dress, eat, [00:11] drink, and live differently from you, [00:13] I'll just assimilate. The irony is Yakov [00:15] that some of the greatest explosions of [00:17] anti-Semitism have taken place in the [00:19] places where we're most like the people [00:21] amongst whom we've lived, which is kind [00:23] of counterintuitive and [music] [00:24] illogical because the reason why one [00:26] group generally doesn't like another [00:27] group is because you're different from [00:28] me. But sometimes the people who hate us [00:30] the most get us the best. [00:32] And Hitler is the one guy who says the [00:34] quiet part out loud. [00:37] And when you look at what he says, [00:37] [music] then it's very eye-opening. It [00:40] goes to where it really drives the [00:41] anti-Semitism, but it also goes to what [00:43] the real solution is. [00:45] >> Let's be honest, where does hatred of [00:47] the Jewish people actually come from and [00:49] when did it start? Do you know it's more [00:51] biblical than you may realize? We took a [00:53] fascinating deep dive with Aish [00:55] HaTorah's Rabbi Ken Spiro and this can [00:57] change how you navigate the [00:58] anti-Semitism you may face tomorrow. [01:01] This episode is in memory of Shimon [01:02] Dovid ben Yaakov Shneima, Miriam Sara [01:04] bas Yaakov Mosha, and Shayna bas Chaim [01:06] Yehuda Leib. In this episode you'll hear [01:08] from our sponsors at Qualify Protein, [01:10] Primal Crisp, BF Design, Kol Chabad, and [01:13] Wheels Lace. Here we go. [01:15] Rabbi Spiro, thank you so much for [01:17] coming back to the studio and I want to [01:19] talk to you about a sad reality that is [01:22] on a wildly high increase, [01:26] anti-Semitism. [01:27] Let's take it back. [01:29] Where does anti-Semitism even come from? [01:32] >> Well, we have to appreciate Yakov that [01:34] it's [01:35] it's it's very ancient. It's as old as [01:37] the Jewish people itself. [01:39] It it really is the world is full of, [01:41] you know, a lot of unfortunate, you [01:42] know, [01:43] racial and religious intolerance and [01:45] horrible things done, [01:46] but there's aspects of Jew hate that set [01:50] it apart even before the term [01:51] anti-Semitism, which was only coined in [01:53] the late 19th century. [01:55] The hatred has been there since our very [01:57] beginning. It's it the fact that it has, [01:59] by the way, a word was the the word [02:01] anti-Semitism was coined by a German [02:03] Jew-hater who was one of Hitler's [02:05] inspirations. His name was Wilhelm Marr. [02:07] In 1879, he wrote a book called The [02:09] Victory of Germanism over Judaism, and [02:11] he wanted to make hatred of Jews [02:13] sound more [02:15] uh scientific and racial and less [02:17] religious. This is, you know, after [02:18] Darwinian evolution. So, he coins this [02:21] phrase. [02:22] But, it's the only form of racial [02:23] religious intolerance for over 100 years [02:25] that had its own word to describe it. [02:27] You know, you hate a black person, [02:28] you're racist. You hate a black [02:29] an Asian, you're racist. You hate a [02:30] Christian, there's no word. [02:32] But, there's a lot of aspects of [02:34] anti-Semitism that that set it apart. [02:36] That it's the longest continuous hatred [02:39] in human history. Again, I could show [02:40] you in the book of Genesis. [02:42] You know, Isaac and the Philistines. [02:44] Call it way back there 3,700 years ago. [02:46] It is the most universal hatred in the [02:50] world. Meaning, hatred of Jews as is not [02:53] limited to our relationship with one [02:54] group, one nation, one faith, one [02:56] people, one part of the world. Wherever [02:58] we have gone in any significant numbers, [03:00] anti-Semitism has followed. [03:02] It is um [03:05] the most violent hatred in the world. I [03:07] mean, the dictionary definition of [03:09] anti-Semitism is prejudice or hostility [03:11] towards Jews. [03:12] But, if that's all it was, like in [03:14] America up until the mid-20th century, [03:17] there were country clubs and hospitals [03:18] and universities that Jews couldn't [03:20] enter. [03:21] That's low-level stuff. [03:23] Uh but, it's much worse than that. It's [03:24] an unending long list of persecution [03:27] and economic and physical [03:28] marginalization, [03:29] rape, pillage, beating up to What's the [03:31] worst thing you could do to anyone you [03:33] hate? You know, kill them. What's [03:34] killing an entire group of people is [03:35] called genocide. [03:37] Who invented that term? A Polish Jewish [03:39] refugee. [03:40] His name is Raphael Lemkin. He's the [03:42] father of the concept of crimes against [03:44] humanity international law. [03:46] Fleeing from Poland, his original [03:47] inspiration was the Armenian what the [03:49] Turks did to the Armenians in 1915. [03:52] But, fleeing from Poland to England [03:53] during World War in 1944, he writes [03:55] there's a crime happening in Europe. [03:57] There's no way to describe. [03:59] And he comes up with that word a [04:00] genocide. Even that word had to be [04:02] created to describe the unique level of [04:04] incredible intensity. [04:07] But the thing that really sets it apart [04:09] is like what drives it. [04:12] You know, it just seems to be [04:14] I always use the example, if you ask [04:16] some white supremacists [04:18] to put on a whiteboard, you know, why [04:20] they don't like black people, they'll [04:21] come up with five or six stereotype like [04:23] lies about black people. [04:25] But you ask like Jew haters to come up [04:28] with a list of thing why they hate Jews, [04:30] they'll fill up 15 whiteboards. I hate [04:32] Jews cuz they're capitalist and they're [04:33] communist. They're warlike and passive, [04:35] different the same, strong weak, rich [04:37] poor, dominant lazy, servile aggressive. [04:40] Goes on and on and on. [04:41] Professor Michael Professor Emeritus [04:43] Michael Curtis at Rutgers, he has a [04:44] great line. He says, "Anything and [04:46] everything is a reason to hate Jews." [04:48] Whatever you hate, that's what a Jew is. [04:50] So we we're stuck with the most [04:52] irrational, violent, oldest, most [04:55] universal hatred in the world that we [04:57] can't seem to shake. [05:00] You know, people people if people ask [05:01] the question, you know, "Where was God [05:03] in the Holocaust?" I said the first [05:04] question you got to ask is where was man [05:06] in the Holocaust. If anything, the [05:08] Holocaust proves is the failure of [05:09] Western enlightened society to create a [05:12] better world out of the most culturally, [05:14] technologically, governmentally advanced [05:16] country in the world which is Germany [05:17] scientifically, will come mechanized [05:20] mass murder on a scale never before [05:21] seen. [05:22] So like it seems like we're just stuck. [05:25] We're supposed to just suffer through [05:26] this and it's there's no way out of it? [05:30] So the origins go back to the very [05:32] foundations [05:34] of a much deeper point and the problem [05:36] is we're constantly getting [05:38] smoke screened by excuses. [05:41] Like the one I get all the time [05:43] even from like well-educated Jews is [05:45] they're jealous [05:47] of our success. To put [05:49] First of all, I can tell you as a [05:50] historian, poor unempowered Jews who are [05:54] a tiny minority in medieval Europe were [05:56] hated just as much if not more [05:58] than the most successful Jews in the [05:59] world. It has nothing to do with that [06:01] kind of stuff. [06:02] But every generation something comes up [06:04] and is used an excuse to hide behind. [06:06] And we Jews have made the mistake of [06:08] like a chameleon, okay, you hate me cuz [06:12] um [06:12] different, cuz I look, dress, eat, [06:14] drink, and live differently from you. [06:16] I'll just assimilate. [06:18] The irony is, Yakov, that um some of the [06:21] greatest explosions of anti-Semitism [06:23] have taken place in the places where [06:24] we're most like the people amongst whom [06:26] we've lived, which is kind of [06:27] counterintuitive and illogical because [06:29] the reason why one group generally [06:31] doesn't like another group is because [06:32] you're different from me. Like I'm [06:33] white, you're black. The more I become [06:35] like you, [06:36] the less you'll hate me until eventually [06:38] I'm absorbed into you. [06:40] That works for everyone but us. [06:42] It doesn't make sense at all. It is [06:44] supernatural and it is supernatural. [06:46] But on the deepest level, because [06:48] there's always something deeper and [06:50] higher going on up there, [06:51] uh the deepest level it's we're being [06:53] told [06:54] we cannot disappear. Our role in history [06:56] is just too critical. [06:58] So, the whole phenomenon, if you stand [06:59] back and look at it like everything in [07:00] Jewish history, I always say the highs [07:02] and the lows of our history [07:03] violate all the laws of human history. [07:06] But when supernatural and weird happens [07:08] to you every day, it just becomes [07:09] normal. That's one of the weird aspects [07:11] of being Jewish. [07:13] >> From a religious level, how does that [07:15] play into the hate that we're getting? [07:19] >> What do you mean by that? From a [07:20] religious [07:20] >> Like from Islam or Christianity, [07:24] is it is it embedded in there to hate [07:27] us? Like are we are we, in quotes, the [07:30] devil? [07:31] >> So, [07:32] it's a great question because [07:34] uh [07:35] from a religious level of these two [07:37] faiths that are offshoots of Judaism, [07:39] both biologically, historically, and [07:41] theologically, meaning they literally [07:43] come out of [07:44] the early generations of the Jewish [07:46] people and the and the idea of [07:47] monotheism, which spreads to two faiths, [07:50] Islam and Christianity. [07:52] The some of the animus, the hatred, is [07:56] always been triggered by this rivalry, [07:58] like we've replaced you. Your continued [08:01] existence is on some level a [08:02] contradiction [08:04] of who we are, but that doesn't explain [08:08] the level of the fear [08:10] that that is that is [08:12] that is directed towards us. Why are we [08:14] viewed as so threatening? [08:16] You know, in early Christianity, if God [08:17] rejected the Jews and we're cursed for [08:19] killing his son and we wander the [08:22] earth as the wandering Jew, unempowered [08:24] and and doomed to suffer for our the [08:27] sins of our ancestors, okay, but [08:30] that doesn't explain the level of fear [08:33] generated. [08:34] But really to understand [08:36] uh what's going on, we really have to [08:38] kind of go back to what is really [08:40] driving [08:42] the anti-Semitism to begin with because [08:45] in a world today where like [08:47] post-Holocaust [08:49] you know, it's interesting. I love to [08:50] figure out the algorithm. [08:52] The world doesn't like Dara Horn wrote a [08:55] book called People Love Dead Jews. [08:57] It's an interesting book. [08:58] The title was wild, guaranteed to sell a [09:00] lot of books. [09:01] But people like [09:03] like a lot just as a lot of people who [09:04] say nice things about the Jewish people [09:05] never actually met Jews, like John [09:07] Adams. He didn't hang out with Jews, but [09:08] the ancient Hebrews, we like those guys. [09:10] But but when we're being slaughtered, [09:12] there's like some algorithm we get a [09:13] certain amount of sympathy. Like even [09:15] when Israel's undergoing terrorist [09:16] attacks in the second intifada between [09:18] 2000 and 2003, 2004, whatever. [09:21] They you know, 15 Jews killed, God [09:22] forbid, and 40 wounded in a in a [09:24] bombing. Okay, for like 3 days the press [09:26] isn't isn't like trying to destroy us. [09:28] Then they go back to attacking us [09:30] cuz we're not allowed to defend [09:31] ourselves. [09:31] >> with October 7th. Like that day the [09:33] world was like, "That's terrible." [09:35] October 8th, they're like, "Well, you [09:37] know, if they're making excuses. [09:39] >> Yeah, now it's much shorter. The day it [09:41] happened, Sydney, where just had the [09:42] terrorist attack, literally, the Sydney [09:44] Opera House on October 7th. They're [09:46] ahead of us, but [09:48] they already had an anti- anti-Israel [09:52] protest, an anti-Semitic protest outside [09:54] before Israel responded. So now that [09:56] it's gone completely. It took you know, [09:59] it took 6 million Jews being slaughtered [10:02] for the world to feel guilty enough to [10:04] vote, you know, Flushing Meadow in [10:05] Queens, you know, November 29th, 1947, [10:08] 33 to 13 with 10 abstentions [10:10] to partition Palestine and give us a [10:12] state, which the Arab world rejected. [10:16] But that was that we paid a very heavy [10:18] price for that support to get [10:19] international sanction for the creation [10:21] of a Jewish state. So much for the idea [10:22] that we're the foreign occupiers, [10:24] forgetting the fact that it's a complete [10:25] rewriting of history. [10:27] And Jews are in the land of Israel 1,900 [10:29] years before the the Muslim Islamic [10:32] conquest of the Middle East. That's a [10:34] separate topic. But but um [10:37] now we're back in a state now we're 80 [10:39] years past the Holocaust. It's, you [10:41] know, literally the World War II and the [10:43] Holocaust ended in 1945 where they're [10:44] approaching the end of, [10:47] you know, [10:48] 2025. [10:50] And anti-Semitism is at levels that we [10:53] have not seen for a very long time. I [10:55] just saw a statistic in the last 10 [10:57] years, it's up like 950%. [11:02] Like an insane number of anti-Semitic [11:04] incidents in America, it's up like close [11:06] to 400% Jews in the United States are [11:09] the or religious-based hate crime, it's [11:12] like close to 60%. [11:14] But the problem is because it happened [11:16] slowly, [11:17] what was it's not all of a sudden [11:19] there's massive Jew anti-Jewish riots [11:21] like Kristallnacht in Germany. Even that [11:23] happened 5 years after Hitler came to [11:25] power and already passed the Nuremberg [11:26] laws and there was a lot of persecution. [11:28] Um we haven't, thank God, gotten to open [11:30] explosions of mass violence against the [11:32] Jewish people. God forbid we should see [11:33] that. Um But, it's like that analogy of [11:36] the frog sitting on the the pot with the [11:38] cold water that's put on the stove and [11:40] the heat's turned on. The water has been [11:42] heating up. [11:43] And now, [11:45] um the anti-Semitism is exploding [11:47] everywhere. We're seeing it from all [11:49] sides of the political spectrum. [11:51] From the extreme left, from the extreme [11:52] right, from hardcore Christians, radical [11:55] Islam, [11:56] from people who are not into those [11:57] religious faiths at all. [11:59] You know, the the the the strangest [12:01] alliance in the world is the red-green [12:03] alliance of, you know, hardcore jihadi [12:05] Muslims with like the extreme left in [12:08] the LGBT community. I mean, these people [12:11] have nothing in common except [12:13] their intersectional dis- They despise [12:16] Israel somehow being the ultimate [12:18] colonialist white oppressor of [12:20] indigenous people, which is [12:22] a lie built on a lie built on a lie [12:24] built on a lie, but nonetheless, that's [12:25] the one thing they'll be arm in arm in [12:27] to come after us. [12:28] So, it's gotten really really intense. [12:31] And it's only a couple generations after [12:33] after the Holocaust. Scary times. [12:36] >> It's so ironic because we know the [12:39] Jewish people what our mission is to be [12:41] a light unto the nations and to make [12:43] this world a better place. And again, [12:46] I'm biased, but and you too, but like [12:48] we're Orthodox Jews and we believe it [12:50] and that's how we live, but we're turned [12:53] into the bad guys. [12:55] It doesn't make sense. [12:56] >> Exactly. And by the way, I always say [12:58] that if you watch what people are [13:00] accusing us of in psychology, it's [13:02] almost always projection. [13:04] It's, you know, like Hitler's saying the [13:06] Jews are trying to take over the world. [13:08] That's what he was trying to do. Openly. [13:09] I mean, he launched a war against the [13:10] entire world basically with his [13:12] >> Right. [13:12] >> help of the Japanese and the Italians. [13:14] >> The Arabs saying like we're colonizers. [13:16] Like they're just trying to take over [13:18] Israel. [13:18] >> Exactly. Or or Hamas, you know, Jews are [13:21] committing genocide [13:22] >> Right. [13:22] >> in Gaza. We're terrible genocide. The [13:24] Palestinian population's gone up like [13:25] 400% since [laughter] we've occupying. [13:28] But in their charter it calls for the [13:31] the murder of Jews. They're quoting the [13:32] famous Hadith from the Quran. The Hadith [13:34] is this you know the stories [13:36] the actions and the sayings of Muhammad [13:38] and says the day of redemption won't [13:39] come until Muslims make war against the [13:41] Jews and kill them and a tree or a rock [13:43] will say, "Oh Muslim, oh servant of [13:45] Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come [13:46] and kill him." [13:48] And this is what they're quoting and [13:49] like openly. [13:50] So they're are focusing on us [13:54] uh [13:54] exactly what they're guilty of doing. [13:57] But you know I'm not so sure you said [13:59] something about you know we Jews our our [14:01] job is to be a light. I'm actually [14:04] this is going to shake some people up [14:06] but I'm not so sure how much I'm not [14:10] talking about assimilated Jewish world [14:12] that there's not little or nothing [14:13] of even the observant the Orthodox world [14:15] which is [14:16] vast spectrum of people for a very small [14:18] community. A lot of people say Orthodox [14:20] Jews as if it's like monolithic. The [14:22] most colorful version of the Jewish [14:24] world is the Orthodox world. Ashkenazim [14:26] and Sephardim and Hasidim and [14:27] non-Hasidim and you have like Lithuanian [14:29] and [14:30] it's so many different groups of people. [14:33] But [14:34] I think as a byproduct of the [14:37] uh both the physical assaults against [14:39] Jews, physical destruction which has [14:41] been going on for thousands of years and [14:43] then topping that off and it's not new. [14:45] It's also in Hanukkah the same thing. We [14:46] just had Hanukkah. [14:48] Uh spiritual assaults against not Jews [14:50] but Judaism. Often led by Jews who've [14:52] left Judaism behind be they Hellenized [14:54] Jews 2,200 years ago or Jewish uh [14:58] intellectuals in Tsarist Russia hired by [15:00] the Tsarist [snorts] Russian government [15:01] to basically destroy the spiritual Torah [15:04] infrastructure of the Jewish world. [15:06] Um [15:08] the Jewish world especially the [15:09] Ashkenazi Jewish world which has become [15:11] the vast majority of the Jewish world [15:13] pre-Holocaust 90% even post-Holocaust [15:16] probably close to 80% or whatever and [15:18] certainly in America [15:20] I'm not so sure how much of that Jewish [15:22] world is consciously walking around with [15:24] our focus is like the light to the [15:25] nations thing. It's become very [15:27] reactive. [15:29] It's it's very I would even try to use [15:31] the term self-ghettoizing. You know, [15:33] Napoleon's the one who knocked the walls [15:35] of the ghettos down in the early 19th [15:36] century in Napoleonic Wars. [15:38] And that the ghettos were a mixed [15:40] blessing for us. Miserable living [15:41] conditions, but Jews kept together. Not [15:43] a lot of intermarriage and assimilation. [15:45] The Enlightenment and the emancipation [15:47] opened up the door the doors for the [15:49] Jewish people. The best way I shouldn't [15:51] say this on the but the best way to get [15:53] rid of Jews is to leave us alone. [15:55] We do a much better job of assimilating [15:57] and and killing ourselves spiritually [15:59] through assimilation and intermarriage [16:01] than the non-Jews have ever able to do [16:02] with us physically. [16:04] Um but so the Orthodox Jewish world, the [16:06] Jewish world in general, the Ashkenazi [16:08] Orthodox Jewish world has really closed [16:10] in on itself. [16:12] And and and and and in creating walls, [16:15] not literal walls, but walls of keeping [16:17] stuff out. So preservation of the Torah [16:21] lifestyle has become have become the [16:23] end, which it isn't by the way. There's [16:25] no Jewish people without Torah and [16:26] mitzvahs. [16:27] That is the lifeblood. When Jews leave [16:29] Judaism behind they they're gone. [16:32] There's there's there's [16:33] a Jew without Torah is like a computer [16:35] without the right software. They do [16:36] horrible things like, you know, Jeffrey [16:38] Epstein and stuff like that. [16:39] >> [laughter] [16:39] >> You know, [16:40] the Talmud even says if Jews didn't have [16:42] Torah they'd destroy the world. So we [16:44] are we're very revolutionary and we're [16:46] very driven. So it but it's the means to [16:49] the ends. I'm not sure how much of the [16:52] Jewish world is I mean I see a lot of [16:54] Jews are very careful in their [16:55] interaction with their fellow Jews and [16:57] non-Jews to be make sure they're very [16:58] polite. That's the super important [16:59] stuff. [17:00] Like the Hippocratic Oath that doctors [17:02] take, first do no harm. [17:04] You're wearing a kippah you're [17:05] identified as a religious Jew, you got [17:06] to be really careful about how you act [17:08] cuz people just looking to jump on you. [17:10] See those Jews? [17:12] You know, you got to tip extra. They're [17:14] going to accuse of being cheap, which [17:15] also is a stereotype. Jews are the most [17:16] generous people in the world. We're just [17:17] careful with our money. You don't throw [17:19] it around. [17:20] So, so I'm not so sure how much of the [17:25] that world is walking around thinking my [17:26] primary goal is to do that. And that [17:28] goes back to, in my opinion, [17:31] what really is the cure to anti-Semitism [17:34] and recognizing what's going on. [17:36] Which means we really have to rewind to [17:38] understand. [17:39] If, you know, it's this unique hatred, [17:41] no matter what shape we change ourselves [17:43] into, we stay different, they hate us. [17:44] Oh, this just Jews are so weird, they're [17:46] so different. They live in their little [17:47] shtetls. [17:48] In Muncie and in New Square and in [17:50] Lakewood and whatever it is. And back [17:51] then it was in different places in [17:53] Poland and Eastern Europe. [17:54] Now, okay. [17:55] What is really driving it? When we're [17:57] rich, they don't like us. When we're [17:58] poor, they don't like us. When we're [18:00] empowered, we like [18:01] What's really driving it? So, we could [18:04] go through every one of the supposed [18:06] reasons why we're hated and we can knock [18:08] them all off as excuses. [18:10] Doesn't mean people don't believe them, [18:12] but to to put our to focus on It's like [18:15] a doctor who misdiagnoses a disease and [18:18] is constantly giving you the wrong [18:19] prescriptions. You're never going to get [18:21] better. We'll keep taking drugs, you're [18:22] not going to get better until we find [18:23] out what's really going on. [18:24] >> So, those are all symptoms, they're not [18:26] the actual cause. [18:26] >> These are all excuses that people hide [18:29] behind. [18:29] >> We're going to be jumping right back [18:31] into this week's episode, but first, Yom [18:32] Kippur is just a couple of weeks away [18:34] and it's one of those times of year when [18:36] many of us think more carefully about [18:38] food. Not just what we eat before the [18:40] fast, but what we serve after. After a [18:42] long fast, the breakfast table is [18:44] usually full of the foods everyone looks [18:46] forward to, but it's also a good moment [18:48] to be intentional and add something more [18:49] balanced to the meal, especially [18:51] protein. That is where Qualify comes in. [18:55] Finally, there's a delicious kosher [18:57] protein powder that actually fits into [18:59] real life. Qualify is a smooth, [19:01] great-tasting whey protein powder. It's [19:03] Colostrum developed in Israel for [19:04] professional athletes, produced under [19:06] strict quality standards, and brought to [19:08] the US by Tnuva. One scoop of Qualify [19:11] gives you 25 g of protein and that's [19:13] about as much protein as four large eggs [19:15] in one quick shake you can make in [19:17] seconds. And for breakfast, there are so [19:19] many easy ways to use it. Blend a fruity [19:21] protein shake, mix it into yogurt, use [19:23] the unflavored option for traditional [19:25] cookies, my favorite, or use the [19:26] chocolate flavor in no-bake energy [19:28] balls. This is a simple way to bring [19:30] protein into the breakfast in a way that [19:32] feels easy, familiar, and yummy. Search [19:35] Qualify protein on Amazon and use code [19:37] delicious10, that's d e l i c i o u s 1 [19:42] 0 for 10% off on Amazon. So, click the [19:46] link down below and get your Qualify [19:48] now. I just got back from Israel and I [19:50] am telling you Primal Crisps was a [19:52] lifesaver on the trip. Flights, running [19:55] around, interviews, weird hours where [19:56] you don't know where you're eating your [19:58] next real meal. I had bags of these with [20:00] me in my knapsack and they were perfect. [20:02] If you haven't tried meat chips yet, [20:04] they're exactly what they sound like, [20:05] crispy, crunchy pieces of real meat. [20:07] It's not jerky, it's totally different [20:09] texture, totally different snack. And [20:11] Primal Crisps has really become a staple [20:13] in the Linger home. My family eats them, [20:15] I eat them, and once we open a bag, it [20:17] usually doesn't last very long. I'm not [20:18] kidding, they sent me like 50 bags and [20:20] we're down to like three. They're glatt [20:22] kosher, each bag has 30 to 40 g of [20:24] protein and the ingredients are [20:25] incredibly simple, meat, salt, and [20:27] spices. No sugar, no preservatives, no [20:30] seed oils, no junk. They have first cut [20:32] brisket, fatty second cut brisket, Texas [20:35] heat barbecue chicken, shawarma chicken, [20:36] and more. I said this before and I still [20:38] believe it, meat chips are going to [20:40] become one of the snacks you start [20:41] seeing everywhere. Primal Crisps is way [20:44] ahead of it. Go to primalcrisps.com and [20:46] use code inspire for 15% off your first [20:49] order. I've been working with BF Design [20:52] for a while now and the more I learn [20:53] about these guys, the more I'm impressed [20:55] by what they've actually built. Just [20:57] look at Lakewood. Over the last 20 [20:58] years, Lakewood has completely exploded [21:00] and BF Design has been right in the [21:02] middle of that growth. Schools, schools, [21:04] offices, stores, developments, custom [21:05] homes. Once you start looking, you [21:07] realize the work is everywhere. And now, [21:10] they're doing the same thing in other [21:11] growing communities. Florida is [21:12] exploding right now, especially Boca. [21:14] And BF Design has dedicated team on the [21:16] ground there. They're building in [21:17] Michigan. They're in Baltimore, New [21:19] York, and across the country. It seems [21:20] like wherever from communities are [21:22] growing, BF Design is there. And I think [21:25] there's a reason for that. This cover [21:26] understands our communities. They know [21:28] how a school needs to function, what a [21:30] school actually needs, what families [21:31] want in their home, and what developers [21:33] need to get a major project done. [21:35] They've worked on over 100 million [21:37] square feet and 94% of their projects [21:39] actually get built. That is a wild stat. [21:41] And I've gotten to know the team, and [21:42] these people are the real deal. If [21:44] you're building something, speak to BF [21:46] Design. Call 732-961-1202, [21:49] or email them info@bfdesignnj.com. [21:53] Tell them Yaco from Living L'Chaim sent [21:54] you. Now, back to this week's episode. [21:56] And people believe all kinds of ins- [21:58] Some things are, you know, more [22:00] believable today because, you know, Jews [22:02] are like, I think six of the 10 [22:03] wealthiest people in the world are [22:05] Jewish. They're not Jewishly connected. [22:06] You know, Jews are very impactful, and, [22:08] you know, the only Jewish empire in [22:09] history has been Hollywood. [22:11] But, the Jews control the media? Like, [22:13] there's a lot of Jews that are very [22:15] impactful in the media, but the Jews as [22:17] a collective, like this cabal that runs [22:18] the media, we'd have a much better [22:19] image. They'd all be running around [22:21] kissing our feet and thinking we're the [22:22] greatest people in the world. So, [22:24] so I mean, to not get distracted by [22:27] whatever excuse it is hiding behind, [22:29] which is easy to market whatever period [22:31] of time in history you can market it as. [22:33] In the medieval Europe, when it was very [22:35] superstitious and the vast majority of [22:37] people were illiterate and believed in [22:38] these nefarious powers and the devil, [22:40] and the black death hits, blame the [22:42] Jews. [22:43] You know, that kind of stuff. But, not [22:45] to get distracted by that, but to try [22:47] and get put our finger on what really is [22:50] causing the anti-Semitism. [22:53] And the person we love to focus on [22:55] is Adolf Hitler. [22:57] And then people always say, "How can you [22:59] quote Hitler are about Jews?" Like, the [23:01] greatest anti-Semite of the last [23:02] thousand years or something. It's like [23:05] asking a bunch of guys in white hoods [23:07] in Mississippi in 1918, you know, why do [23:10] you not like black people? You know, Ku [23:11] Klux Klan members. You know, like you're [23:13] not going to take what they say [23:13] seriously. [23:15] >> [snorts] [23:15] >> But sometimes the people who hate us the [23:16] most get us the best. [23:18] And and Hitler is the one guy who says [23:21] the quiet part out loud. [23:23] And when you look at what he says, then [23:25] it's very eye-opening. It goes to where [23:27] it really drives the anti-Semitism, but [23:28] it also goes to what the real solution [23:31] is that that we have to do is [23:34] and there's a number of [23:35] uh [23:36] quotes of Hitler that are very powerful, [23:38] you know. Hitler says, for instance, he [23:39] says the He says the war for domination [23:41] of the world is entirely between us, [23:42] between Germans and Jews. All else is [23:44] facade and illusion. But in England and [23:46] France and the United States stands [23:49] Israel. Even when we have driven the Jew [23:51] out of Germany, he remains our world [23:52] enemy. Now, Hitler does not believe that [23:54] Jews literally control the governments, [23:55] but he who is fighting [23:57] against until he invades Russia 1941, [24:00] he's fighting against liberal democratic [24:02] countries, England, France, Holland. [24:04] He recognized that the ideology behind [24:06] liberal democracy largely comes from [24:07] Judaism. [24:09] Equality before the law, like it says in [24:11] the American Declaration of [24:12] Independence, we hold these truths to be [24:14] self-evident that all men are created [24:15] equal. They're endowed by their creator [24:18] with certain [24:19] inalienable rights, [24:20] life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. So, [24:22] it's an ideological struggle. He's very [24:24] ideological. [24:25] So, he recognizes that that the the [24:28] ideal the influence of Jew Judaism and [24:30] Jewish ideas is what I hate the most. [24:33] He He says the Jews put two scars on [24:36] humanity, conscience on the soul and [24:37] circumcision on the body. Both were [24:39] inventions of the Jew. Oh my god. [24:43] That's the greatest backhanded [24:44] compliment ever given to the Jewish [24:46] people. [24:48] But it's But it's interesting who first [24:50] goes after circumcision in human [24:51] history. [24:53] That's the Hanukkah story. [24:55] Which we're also in [24:56] the Christmas season where [24:58] >> [laughter] [24:58] >> we're in wintertime having just Hanukkah [25:00] Hanukkah is coming. [25:01] >> know when we're releasing this. But but [25:02] the timing of the recording is it's very [25:04] apropos what you're saying now. [25:06] >> So so but Hanukkah is the same time of [25:08] year, no connection at all. [25:10] No connection at all. But the [25:13] the Hanukkah story is not a fight [25:15] because everything in America is about [25:16] freedom from oppression. That's what [25:18] America is all about. Freedom freedom [25:19] freedom. No no the Jews and the Greeks [25:21] actually got along pretty well and [25:23] Greeks had occupied [25:25] the land of Israel for more than a [25:26] century and a half before the Greeks [25:28] with their assimilated Jewish allies [25:29] went after not Jews but Judaism. [25:31] It was the first religious ideological [25:33] war in human history. [25:35] You Jews believe you alone. This isn't [25:37] Hitler and the Holocaust. He said, "I [25:38] don't care what kind of Jew you are. I'm [25:39] I'm you're I'm gassing you." Different [25:41] struggle. But [snorts] he said, "Just [25:43] just become pagans. Just like drop your [25:45] Jewish stuff. Like join the world [25:47] culture of the time which was Greek [25:48] culture and we'll we'll leave you [25:49] alone." But one of the first things they [25:50] went after they went after you know, [25:52] they went after the Shabbat. They went [25:54] after the Rosh Chodesh. They went after [25:56] Jewish time. They went after Torah [25:58] learning and they went after [25:59] circumcision. [26:00] >> Mhm. [26:00] >> These are signs of our relationship with [26:02] God. [26:03] So he says he says Hitler says, "You [26:05] know, they put two scars on humanity." [26:07] So paganism's war against Judaism 2,200 [26:12] years ago they're outlawing [26:13] circumcision. [26:14] And then Hitler says they call me a He [26:17] says, "You call me a barbarian." He [26:19] goes, "This is an honorable title to me. [26:20] We shall rejuvenate this world. This [26:22] world is near its end." One of the [26:24] mistakes that Hollywood makes besides [26:26] giving us the completely wrong [26:27] perspective on romantic love. [26:30] Which is all living in la-la land. [26:32] >> [laughter] [26:33] >> Is evil. [26:34] Evil in Hollywood whether it's Boris [26:37] Badenov the cartoon and Boris Badenov [26:40] and a society to do evil. Evil is always [26:43] it looks dark. It's ugly and it wants to [26:44] do bad stuff. [26:46] One of the big thing you have to [26:47] recognize is evil in this world looks [26:49] like you and I. [26:51] And evil always thinks it's doing good. [26:53] >> Mhm. [26:54] >> Uh there's there is a great line from H [26:57] H.L. Mencken, who is a a curmudgeon and [27:00] satirical writer in the early 20th [27:01] century. It's a great quote. He said, [27:03] "The urge to fix the world is almost [27:06] always a false face to rule it." [27:10] Meaning all these dictators, "I'm [27:11] bringing communism to the world. I'm [27:13] going to conquer the world and bring the [27:15] in the workers' paradise." And look what [27:16] it causes. [27:18] Evil looks like you and I, and evil [27:21] evil [27:22] thinks [27:23] Hitler views himself in almost messianic [27:26] terms. I am freeing humanity [27:29] from this false vision [27:31] called conscience. [27:33] This [27:33] He said the ancient world used to run on [27:36] a like the animal kingdom, survival of [27:38] the fittest. Animals have no mercy. [27:39] Lions don't [27:41] hunt the the head of you know the number [27:43] one wildebeest of the herd, the alpha [27:44] male. They go after the sick, they go [27:46] after the old, they go after the weak. [27:48] >> Which is just so much more dangerous [27:49] because according to the Hollywood way, [27:52] like it's very black and white. You evil [27:54] We know it's evil, evil knows it's evil, [27:56] but when [27:57] evil what it actually is thinks it's [27:59] doing good, [28:01] then that's just [28:05] so dangerous. [28:06] >> Yeah. [28:07] It sells itself well and a lot of people [28:09] buy into it before they realize it's too [28:10] late. Look at communism, well-intended [28:13] idea [28:14] that's caused more the [28:15] estimated death of 100 million people. [28:17] Worst political economic idea in human [28:19] history. [28:20] Well, by a well-founded individual who [28:22] happened to be Karl Marx, happened to be [28:23] a Jew who was converted to Christianity, [28:25] but who wanted to [28:27] like fix the world with a non-God based [28:29] system of economics. So, you know, they [28:32] say about the road to hell and good [28:33] intentions. [28:34] But [snorts] But uh [28:36] Hitler views himself in messianic terms, [28:39] but he also views himself as a [28:41] barbarian. He said, "The world used to [28:43] be the survival of the fittest kind of [28:45] thing. The lion hunts the weak, the [28:47] sick. The herd stays strong, the lion [28:48] stays strong. There's no mercy. [28:51] In the ancient world, even [28:53] babies with minor birth defects were [28:54] left out be died by their parents. Leave [28:57] the kid on a rock, it'll be eaten by an [28:58] animal or die of exposure. [29:00] Empires like Rome never respected any [29:02] country's borders. [29:04] If you they conquered, conquest was [29:05] natural. To be strong was natural. It's [29:07] called Hitler calls it the natural [29:09] concept. [29:10] But that's good. Everything stays [29:11] strong. He says now this human concept, [29:13] which has its origins in Judaism, has [29:15] seeped into the world and is weakening [29:17] the world. Now little wimpy nations like [29:19] Holland are allowed to exist. Mentally [29:22] handicapped [29:23] deformed people are allowed to breed. [29:26] You know, Hitler had the the the T4 [29:29] field the T4 project, which was the [29:32] mass extermination of mentally deficient [29:35] German people. Which when the Germans [29:37] found out about that, they were very [29:38] upset. Killing Jews, they don't care [29:39] about that. Had to do it secretly. But [29:41] they were gassing. He started doing that [29:43] to his own people before he was started [29:45] killing Jews. [29:47] We have to weed out the sick and the [29:48] weak. We have to restore that natural [29:49] strong order. [29:51] What's most interesting [29:53] is if you look at the Hitler Youth songs [29:55] because he founded a youth movement and [29:57] they had songs. [29:59] I can't sing them in German, but no one [30:00] talks about these things. But they're [30:01] unbelievable lyrics. It's the quiet part [30:04] said right out loud, which everyone [30:06] needs to listen to. [30:08] One of them goes like this, we we are [30:10] the joyous Hitler Youth. We don't need [30:13] any Christian virtue. [30:15] Our leader, meaning Hitler, our leader [30:17] is our savior. The Pope and Rabbi shall [30:20] be gone. We want to be pagans once [30:23] again. [30:24] Wow. [30:25] Wow. The Pope and [30:26] Hitler views communism and Christianity [30:29] as the bastard children, the bastard [30:31] offshoots of the mother. [30:33] You know, which is Judaism. But he says [30:35] to get rid of the offshoots that are so [30:36] dangerous, just kill the Pope or he [30:38] would have by the way. Hitler Germans [30:40] were ostensibly Christian, but Hitler [30:42] was Hitler was a pagan. He would have [30:45] gone after the church that he had won. [30:46] There's no question. [30:48] He said to get rid of Christianity, you [30:50] know, burn the churches down, kill the [30:51] Pope and the priests, and all the the [30:52] masses will go back to being pagans. [30:54] Communism, [30:56] uh just kill off Stalin, kill off the [30:57] commissars, the masses will go back to [30:59] being pagans. But to get rid of the [31:00] mother [31:01] of the bastard children, which is [31:03] Judaism, you can't just kill the rabbis [31:04] and burn down the synagogues and destroy [31:05] the day schools. Every Jew, he says, [31:08] "Even if there've never been a Hebrew [31:10] school or a new [31:12] or the Hebrew Bible." He said the Jewish [31:13] spirit would still exist and exert its [31:15] influence. He said it has been there [31:16] from the very beginning, [31:18] and there is no Jew, not a single one, [31:19] who does not personify it. [31:22] Not only is he focusing on what he's [31:23] he's saying the quiet part out loud, he [31:25] recognizes a point that is [31:27] transformative. He [31:29] he he knew it. That Jews have a certain [31:32] spiritual DNA. I have a whole [31:34] presentation on this. It's easily [31:36] demonstrable. [31:37] Not that they're better or worse, but [31:39] that Jews have this incredible drive. [31:41] We're disproportionately impactful. You [31:43] know, 0.2% of the world's population, [31:45] but, you know, 22% of all the Nobel [31:47] Prizes. [31:48] Like, that's 11,500 times more than we [31:50] should have. That's crazy, you know? And [31:53] and transformative, like almost any [31:55] cause to make the world a better place. [31:56] And most of the modern revolutionary [31:58] ideas are either founded or created by [32:00] Jews or run by Jews. He said this is in [32:02] the Jewish DNA. Even a Jew with no none [32:05] of that Torah software [32:07] to guide him in the right direction for [32:09] that drive in the nationalist dark [32:11] mission of the Jewish people to be this [32:12] light to nations that you mentioned, [32:14] still going to be like foisting some [32:16] sort of humanitarian, liberal, [32:18] fix-the-world idea, which he viewed as [32:20] as as toxic for humanity. We're going to [32:23] wipe out the world. So, every single Jew [32:25] has to go. [32:27] If you listen to this another Hitler [32:28] Youth song, which I I don't know if it's [32:30] the exact wording, but it goes he goes, [32:31] "Jews out, away with the Pope. We have [32:34] not bled anonymously." He said through [32:36] Christianity, he said through [32:38] Christianity, Judaism, he said Germany [32:41] will be Judaized. He blames Christianity [32:43] for destroying the German people. And [32:45] then he go then the song goes, listen to [32:47] the lyrics. We are free from the [32:49] mountain of Sinai. [32:52] You leave us alone. [32:54] That's wild. [32:55] >> I'm going to take your word for it. I'm [32:56] not going to put this on my Spotify [32:57] playlist. [32:58] Um but that's very revealing. [33:01] >> Hey, but these are what all the kids in [33:02] Germany are singing. It's the You don't [33:04] even You don't see this in Yad Vashem, [33:06] by the way. You don't see this when you [33:07] go visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. [33:10] But what he is saying is the point we [33:11] have to keep in mind as Jews and [33:13] non-Jews. [33:15] That all excuses aside, [33:17] it does go back to the point you're [33:18] making of our job in the world has been [33:22] to connect humanity to God, which is the [33:26] ultimate reality, and the moral, [33:28] ethical, spiritual system that comes [33:29] from that God. It's not just a nice [33:31] idea. It has practical implications, how [33:33] we live our lives, how we view the [33:35] world. [33:36] And anti-Semitism, regardless of what [33:38] excuse it's hiding behind, that millions [33:40] of people may believe, no matter how [33:41] ridiculous they are, is always on some [33:44] level pushback against that. [33:47] That's a huge point. [33:49] But Yacov, once we understand that, then [33:50] we understand that as much as we need [33:53] to, you know, [33:55] when people say outrageous things on the [33:56] news, we have to push back and we have [33:57] to contradict them and show them the [34:00] facts, [34:01] to spend all of our time doing that is [34:03] basically to be giving aspirin to a [34:04] person who has cancer. [34:06] >> Mhm. [34:06] >> [clears throat] [34:06] >> You're going to [34:07] dull the pain, maybe, but you're not [34:09] going to get rid of the disease. [34:11] What ultimately is driving it, [34:13] you know, with Chaim of Volozhin, who [34:15] founded the Volozhin Yeshiva more than [34:16] 200 years ago, it's still the best line. [34:19] He said, when Jews don't make Kiddush, [34:21] Gentiles make Havdalah. [34:23] >> Mhm. [34:23] >> Which is amazing. [clears throat] That's [34:24] it, you know, when we don't and and and [34:28] we know for those people who are [34:30] watching and know what Kiddush is, on [34:31] Friday night, you over a cup of wine, we [34:33] enter that higher spiritual level of [34:35] Shabbat and we use a cup of wine. And [34:36] then Saturday night when we go down to [34:38] the lower level the rest of the week, [34:40] also on a cup of wine you make Havdalah. [34:42] It doesn't mean literally. It means when [34:44] we, the Jewish people, [34:46] Aristotle said nature abhors a vacuum. [34:49] You know, vacuums don't like to exist. [34:51] The world on a on a spiritual moral [34:54] level is is a vacuum. It'll be filled of [34:56] one of two ideas. [34:58] Or the ideas that we bring into the [35:00] world through the idea of one God and [35:02] one absolute standard of morality, which [35:04] have created the most [35:06] the faith like Judaism and the most [35:08] transformative ideas in modern liberal [35:10] democracy and the values of the Ten [35:11] Commandments, which are the most [35:12] powerful ideas in human history that [35:14] have created liberal democracy, which [35:16] has been the greatest form of government [35:17] that has lifted more people out of [35:19] poverty, given more people equality and [35:20] opportunity than any form of government. [35:22] It's not perfect, but like Churchill [35:24] says, [35:25] democracy is the worst form of [35:26] government except for every other system [35:27] we've tried from time to time throughout [35:29] history. Or the world will be filled [35:31] with the opposite values. [35:32] The opposite values are evil. [35:34] And when that evil comes into the world, [35:36] it will come either after the Jewish [35:38] people or after the Jewish state, which [35:40] is the embodiment on a national level of [35:42] the Jewish people. [35:43] Which doesn't mean all Jews are great [35:44] and all Gentiles are evil. No, and God [35:46] forbid, not at all. [35:47] But as a collective, [35:49] that even like God like Hitler [35:51] recognized that even you Jew who's [35:53] totally disconnected, who's a Jew for [35:55] every ism but Judaism, you still have [35:57] that Jewish soul. You still have that [35:58] potential [36:00] to be transformative in the world. Gotta [36:02] weed you out. [36:05] >> That is [snorts] [36:06] um both so sad but also so inspiring. It [36:09] really is. [36:11] The next part might blow your mind, but [36:12] first we're getting closer to Yom Hadin [36:14] and there are certain things you want to [36:15] be able to look back and say, "I did [36:17] that this year." Tzedakah should be one [36:19] of them. And that's why I keep talking [36:21] about Colel Chabad's Pushka. This isn't [36:23] just about checking off that you gave a [36:24] dollar today or $5. Colel Chabad is [36:27] helping some of the neediest people in [36:29] Israel. Families who are struggling to [36:30] put food on the table, widows, orphans, [36:33] elderly people who need support, people [36:34] who genuinely depend on this help. And [36:37] with the Pushkaap, you can make helping [36:38] them part of your everyday life. Set a [36:40] reminder, give a dollar, give a thousand [36:42] dollars, whatever it is, whatever works [36:44] for you. The amount isn't even the [36:46] point. You're building the habit of [36:47] giving tzedakah every single day. [36:49] Imagine coming into Rosh Hashanah [36:50] knowing that day after day throughout [36:52] the year, or maybe just this past week, [36:54] you made sure another Jew had something [36:55] because of you. And that's something to [36:57] be proud of when we come before Hashem [36:59] on the Yom Hadin. If you haven't [37:01] downloaded it yet, now's the time. [37:03] Download the app and help the people of [37:04] Israel. Download the app at [37:06] pushkaap.cc/inspo. [37:08] Of course, click on the links down [37:09] below. Now, let me tell you what I like [37:11] about Wheels O Lease. You can call them [37:13] with almost anything. You need a Sienna? [37:16] Fine. You want a luxury SUV? They'll [37:18] find it. You need a commercial van for [37:20] your business? They do that, too. [37:21] They've been around since 1989, so [37:23] they're not learning the business on [37:25] your deal. They know the market, they [37:26] know where the cars are, and they know [37:28] how to get things done. And that matters [37:30] because sometimes the car you want is [37:31] sitting at the wrong dealership in the [37:33] wrong state with the wrong price [37:35] attached to it. Wheels O Lease handles [37:37] all of that. You tell them what you're [37:38] looking for, they go out, they find [37:40] that, work the numbers, and can deliver [37:41] it right to your house for free. They [37:43] work with basically every major brand. [37:45] They do new leases, used cars, [37:46] commercial vehicles, all of it. I use [37:48] them myself, and I can put my word [37:50] behind them. And if you need a car [37:51] anyway, just make the call. [37:52] 718-871-8715. [37:54] You can email them [37:55] inspire@wheelsolease.com, [37:57] or you can go on their website [37:58] wheelsolease.com/inspire. Of course, you [38:00] can reach out to Sol directly in the [38:01] WhatsApp link down below. Simple, [38:03] honest, done right. Wheels O Lease. Now, [38:05] back to this week's episode. So, [38:07] according to what you're saying, this [38:08] this mission of the Jewish people to [38:10] bring [38:12] a connection between the this world and [38:14] to God, wouldn't the [38:17] very religious Christians, very [38:18] religious Muslims be on par, like we're [38:21] on the same team in that regard. Why [38:23] would they, if anyone would hate us so [38:25] much more? [38:26] >> That's a great question. I get it all [38:28] the time. Um so, we understand we we we [38:30] talked about, you know, early on with [38:32] the offshoot religions coming out of us, [38:34] there was a jealousy and a rivalry, we [38:36] replaced you [38:37] attitude. But, since the world is [38:40] largely dividing up in between two big [38:43] communities, people who believe in a God [38:46] who acts in history and a God-given [38:49] source of morality and values, which [38:52] would be the Christian and Muslim world [38:54] with the Jews at the top of that, and [38:56] the world that's kind of into, you know, [38:59] like it's almost a neo-paganistic [39:00] worldview, that everything is open to [39:03] it, you have to be open to everything, [39:04] and it's kind of like those people who [39:06] you see this, like the religious [39:08] world [39:10] versus the extreme left and extreme [39:12] right. They're very much is based on [39:13] those two concepts. I'm overgeneralizing [39:15] here, but that's a lot of what it is. [39:18] If that's the way the world is dividing, [39:19] then how come it and [39:22] you know, and you say that a guy like [39:24] Hitler, he's a pagan, he's against these [39:26] Judeo-Christian values, he was um very [39:30] anti-Christian. By the way, he liked [39:31] Islam. Yeah, I have I quotes from Hitler [39:34] where he talks about how much better [39:37] Islam would have been for two reasons, [39:38] he says, interesting. One is the idea of [39:40] jihad. [39:41] You know, cuz it's very the very [39:42] aggressive expansionist worldview, that [39:44] is mainstream Islamic, by the way, [39:45] physically conquering the world. He [39:47] liked doing that. And the other thing [39:49] was the Islamic idea of of, you know, [39:51] the Hitler was so into the Viking thing [39:54] of Valhalla, if you know the Viking [39:56] mythology, when you know, a great [39:58] warrior dies, he goes up to the hall, he [39:59] sits with Odin, their god, you know, and [40:01] they sit there and they fight and they [40:03] drink and they party. [40:04] And he says, they you know, this idea of [40:06] the 72 virgins, it's very physical. Mhm. [40:08] This is all been great. This is much [40:10] more suited to our worldview. But, [40:11] still, going take Hitler's view aside, [40:14] if the world is really dividing between [40:15] people who are kind of like this God [40:17] based system of morality, absolute [40:19] rights and wrongs and a clear direction [40:21] in history versus open to everything and [40:24] almost neo-paganistic worldview, then [40:26] why aren't all these people lining up [40:28] behind us? Shouldn't they be our biggest [40:30] allies? So, it's a very interesting [40:32] answer. [40:33] Um with the with Christians, if you know [40:35] the history of Christianity's relation [40:36] to Judaism, it was at in its inception [40:39] the most anti, largely because of the [40:42] rivalry, we've replaced you kind of [40:43] stuff and the deep superstition. [40:46] But also it [40:48] if you fast forward to today, you see [40:49] that the people who are most pro-Israel [40:51] is the evangelical Christian right. Not [40:53] all of them, but a lot of them are. Mhm. [40:55] So, what [clears throat] happened? What [40:56] happened in the middle? [40:57] Okay, you had Pope Paul 1965 with [41:00] Vatican II, let's stop blaming the Jews [41:02] for Jesus's death and let's remove the [41:04] cursing of the Jews in the Catholic [41:06] mass, but it's much more than that. [41:08] In medieval Europe, I mean, most of [41:10] medieval Europe was illiterate. [41:13] The literate people couldn't read, like [41:15] a fraction and a [41:17] and even the Bible, which there's no [41:19] printing press, [41:20] and the Bible was only in Latin. [41:22] And the number one book that was banned [41:24] by the Catholic Church on their index of [41:26] books you're not allowed to read was the [41:28] Bible, which how can that be? [41:30] The Bible you can't read? I mean, go [41:31] read the history of Protestantism and [41:32] Tyndale and Wycliffe and the people in [41:35] 500 years ago who were involved in the [41:36] translation and spreading of the Bible [41:38] in the Protestant Reformation, but [41:40] anyone reading the Bible a thousand [41:41] years ago and seeing how the church [41:42] behaved would see the disconnect was [41:44] crazy. These people are the most [41:45] hypocritical people in the world. [41:48] Once the printing press comes along [41:50] and Protestant Reformation in the 16th [41:53] century [41:54] and and literacy goes up, people start [41:56] reading the Bible and the Christian [41:57] Bible contains the Jewish Bible. Once [41:59] people really go back to scripture, so [42:01] to speak, the Old and the New Testament [42:03] and read it themselves and remove the [42:05] Pope, you know, like we're going to read [42:06] the book ourselves. [42:08] Then they'll see this the biblical story [42:10] is right in there, you know, the not not [42:12] just the Jesus narrative, but the he's a [42:15] Jew, he's living in the land of Israel. [42:16] It says in the Bible, God says to [42:18] Abraham, [42:20] bless those who bless you and I'll curse [42:21] those who curse you. And they see the [42:24] the the arc of Jewish history and the [42:26] Messianic idea and the return as [42:28] prophesied by the [42:30] People will start taking Bottom line is [42:32] people start reading the Bible and [42:34] taking it seriously. [42:37] And recognize that the old version, you [42:38] know, which is not old for us, that is [42:40] the book and the new version is just a [42:42] nothing Jesus says is really that [42:43] different from what's being said by [42:45] earlier prophets. [42:46] It's all happening. There are people who [42:48] naturally going to line up behind us. [42:50] So, that explains why the modern [42:53] evangelical Christian community, a [42:54] combination of taking the Bible [42:56] seriously and seeing biblical prophecy [42:58] unfolding with the rebirth of the Jewish [43:00] state there out of the ashes of the [43:02] Holocaust, the reunification of Israel, [43:04] the return of the Jews from exile. [43:06] That's great. So, what's with Islam? [43:08] Now, there there definitely moderate [43:09] Muslims who are not hating Jews, but one [43:11] of the biggest source of Jew hate now is [43:13] fueling a lot of the anti-Semitism and [43:15] the violent anti-Semitism is [43:17] the radical extreme Islamic world. [43:20] They have actually a a view of God that [43:22] is closest to the Jewish version, [43:24] meaning there's no Trinity idea, there's [43:26] no Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So, [43:27] their conception of God is very much in [43:29] line with this Jewish idea. [43:31] Um but the Quran does not contain the [43:34] Hebrew Bible. [43:36] Does not. There are definitely things [43:37] said Read chapter five of the Quran, [43:39] which is called the table and there's [43:40] things said about the Jews. Some are [43:41] good, some are very negative. There's a [43:43] few Bible stories in there that are very [43:44] kind of confusing. [43:46] But they don't have the those Jewish [43:47] values because it's really the defining [43:49] factor is who's going to take the Bible [43:51] seriously, the book that sells 4,000 [43:52] copies an hour, 24 hours a day, seven [43:55] days a week, 365 days a year. That's the [43:58] most transformative idea in the world. [44:01] You don't have that. [44:03] It it's you're not going to have that [44:04] same worldview. And Islam, the other [44:07] thing is Christianity has also gone [44:09] through [44:10] a lot of transformation from being very [44:12] violent and reactive and superstitious [44:14] and oppressive to the Reformation and [44:16] the birth of Protestantism. I think [44:18] Christians would do better to be a [44:20] little more Christian. They're too [44:21] secular. I think moderate religious [44:23] people or especially Christians are [44:24] great people [44:25] to live amongst, especially as Jews, if [44:27] you can't be living in Israel. Those are [44:28] the people you want to live against. [44:30] Islam [44:32] has never gone through a reformation. [44:34] Islam is I would say is actually been [44:36] more radicalized since the Iranian [44:38] Revolution in 1979. [44:41] Jihad has gotten a jumpstart, [44:43] which is largely fueled by [44:45] on one hand the Shiite Islam of of Iran [44:48] and by things like Al-Qaeda and ISIS and [44:50] places like that. [44:52] So, a combination of not having the [44:53] Bible [44:55] and taking the most radical jihadi [44:57] version of their world view, which is [44:59] pushing all these extreme movements in [45:01] the world and radicalizing even Muslims [45:02] living in European and America, [45:05] has made them align themselves with [45:07] people they have nothing in common with [45:08] except their [45:09] the complete hatred of Israel, which is [45:12] that extreme left. [45:14] So, we now have very interesting divide [45:17] in the world, which is not clearly along [45:18] God or not God, but also on how [45:21] seriously [45:22] you're going to take the word of God in [45:24] the Bible. To the extent that anyone [45:26] takes that seriously, even if you don't [45:27] have the oral law, which Christians [45:28] don't have, [45:30] the extent you take that seriously and [45:31] believe in that book is the extent [45:33] you're going to support Israel and the [45:34] Jewish people. [45:36] >> Uh [45:37] before we go, like one or two more [45:39] questions, I'm curious your take on the [45:42] I feel like the scapegoat now is "Oh, I [45:46] don't hate Jews. I just hate Israel [45:48] because Israel's the bad guys. No, no, [45:50] no, I don't hate Jews." And then, you [45:52] know, we clearly see them hating Jews. [45:54] What's What's your take on that uh [45:56] scapegoat now? [45:57] >> Yeah, well, it's it's like one of the [45:59] new It's It's It's the last excuse that [46:03] Jew hating is hiding behind. [46:05] Um but how do we know [46:08] that first of all, I mean, if you look [46:09] at the situation objectively, [46:11] Israel as the only liberal democratic [46:14] country in the worst neighborhood in the [46:15] world in many respects. I mean, Africa's [46:17] kind of a mess, too. [46:18] But you know, a country that's a liberal [46:20] democratic country that's a [46:21] multi-religious, multi-racial ethnic [46:23] state. 20% of Israel's population is [46:25] really Arabs. It's a democracy. There [46:28] are these Arabs who sit in the Knesset [46:30] and are our supreme court justices and [46:32] things like that. [46:33] You know, the social issues in Israel, [46:34] not a perfect state, but compared to the [46:36] neighbors around them, [46:37] you know, what there's the there's what [46:40] Natan Sharansky, who was a former [46:42] prisoner of Zion in the Soviet Union, [46:44] uh [46:45] Anatoly was his original name. He came [46:46] with the famous 3D's. How do you [46:48] distinguish legitimate criticism of [46:50] Israel cuz it is legitimate to criticize [46:51] any country in the world, including [46:52] Israel, [46:54] but is the demon When you the 3D's are [46:56] the are the litmus test. The [46:58] demonization, [47:00] when you accuse Israel, like Israeli [47:01] soldiers, of harvesting dead [47:03] Palestinians' organs, like in medieval [47:04] Europe, Jews killing Christian babies [47:06] with their blood to bake matzah. [47:08] The double standard, which is where it [47:10] really becomes obvious. When you ignore [47:13] the massive tragedies going on in the [47:16] world, like the starvation in Ethiopia [47:19] and in Sudan and Somalia, where there's [47:21] real levels of serious starvation [47:24] and [snorts] and real oppression and [47:25] violence. When you don't care what Assad [47:27] did to his own people, killing like 3/4 [47:28] of a million and exiling millions of [47:30] people, and you focus on Israel. [47:32] And when you [47:33] delegitimize, when you say that Israel [47:36] has no right to exist. Every other [47:37] country in the world, we don't care how [47:38] bad they are, but they can be around. [47:40] >> [snorts] [47:40] >> So, it's just a smoke screen, but the [47:42] real dead giveaway is that when there [47:46] the spikes you see, whether it's the [47:47] first Inti- all the Gaza wars, 2008, [47:49] 2009, 2014, October 7th, that the [47:53] massive spikes of anti-Semitism around [47:54] the world are linked to Israel's war [47:56] with Gaza. Like, [47:58] if it's Israel, why are you attacking a [47:59] Jew in a restaurant in LA? [48:02] You know, why is it explosion of [48:03] anti-Semitism in Sydney, Australia? Why? [48:06] It's clear that and you can see even at [48:08] the rallies when they call for killing [48:11] they're openly calling for it. [48:13] Killing Jews. Freedom of speech, you can [48:15] call for that. [48:17] You know, Hamas Hamas give the Jews the [48:18] gas, that kind of stuff. [48:20] So, it is just another excuse. [48:24] That that we cannot be Yes, we got to [48:26] counteract the negative Yeah, sure we [48:28] have to put the true narrative out [48:29] there. But people always saying Israel's [48:31] so bad at it's hasbara, it's explain [48:34] Israel [48:36] America doesn't have to explain why it [48:37] accidentally blew up a wedding hall with [48:39] a bunch of Taliban guys in it during the [48:41] Afghanistan war. [48:42] Accidentally killing like 400 people or [48:44] something. [48:46] There's collateral damage. Israel's the [48:48] only country that has to explain [48:50] fighting wars for its survival with more [48:53] moderation and constraint than any [48:55] country in human history. [48:58] Ask someone like, you know, John Spencer [49:00] is the world's greatest expert on urban [49:02] warfare. He's a professor and a reserve [49:04] officer in the US Army is in in West [49:06] Point. I met the guy. He says Israel [49:08] does stuff no one else does. [49:10] So, is is it only country that has to do [49:12] this stuff? No one else has to do it. [49:15] So, Israel's not bad at its hasbara. [49:17] It's just that the world is so [49:18] relentlessly hyper-critical [49:21] of the Jewish people and the Jewish [49:22] state. It's not fair. It's a horrible [49:24] double standard. [49:25] But that also if we understand we pull [49:28] back and look [49:29] that you know, there's a famous [49:31] statement that we are in you know, that [49:33] Balaam, the non-Jewish prophet in the [49:34] book of Numbers in Bamidbar is trying to [49:37] curse us, but he gives us all these [49:38] blessings and he says we're am shochen [49:40] levadad, a nation that dwells alone and [49:42] is not reckoned amongst the nations. [49:45] Uh you know, Abraham Abraham is called [49:47] haivri, on this side of the river. He's [49:48] in the rest of the world's worshipping [49:50] idols, he's on the other side. [49:52] We are always going to be in a different [49:55] place. And even subconsciously, the [49:57] world is aware that you Jewish people, [49:59] you Jewish state, it's kind of like [50:01] Hebrew National, you know, [50:03] their motto, we have to answer to a [50:05] higher authority. [50:07] It's sort of the way we're being told [50:09] that just as the greatest explosions of [50:11] anti-Semitism take place in places where [50:13] often most assimilated is [50:15] is the message we're getting is we can't [50:16] be allowed to disappear cuz our role in [50:18] history [50:19] is just too important. Our mission in [50:22] the world to be this light that connect [50:23] humanity to God is too important. So [50:25] too, this double standard is the way [50:28] we're being told is yes, you have to if [50:31] you're going to stand out as a Jew, you [50:32] better stand up as a Jew. [50:34] You better individually and collectively [50:36] be unified and be proactive and have the [50:39] end game in mind that our job is to fill [50:41] that vacuum [50:43] with those values that come from God, [50:45] which is the only values that are going [50:46] to work. [50:47] And if we don't do it, it's going to be [50:49] full with evil, the evil is going to [50:50] come after us first. [50:52] So when you but when you understand [50:53] that, then everything kind of like, wow, [50:56] it's supernatural. There's clearly a [50:58] higher power in this, but now it makes [51:00] sense and it's consistent and now we [51:01] know instead of being freaked out and [51:03] like, "Oh my god, this is unending. [51:04] They're going to eat the world. What do [51:05] we do?" [51:06] Now we understand. We have a game plan. [51:09] >> Really, really beautiful. Um for those [51:12] who want to hear more from you, and I [51:15] personally know there is so much more, [51:17] where's the best place that they could [51:18] find you? [51:19] >> So the best place I have a website, [51:21] which I'm I'm redoing now, it's called [51:22] kentspiro.com. [51:23] >> Sorry. [51:24] >> I do a podcast almost every week. It's [51:26] called Remember What's Next. I have a [51:28] YouTube channel at Rabbi Ken Spiro. I [51:30] put my podcasts up there and other [51:32] shorts. So, but on my website, it's [51:34] links to all of my content. And I've [51:37] written a bunch of books, but the one I [51:38] recommend most to start with is a crash [51:40] course in Jewish history. It's a great, [51:42] very readable one volume. We have such a [51:44] great history and we just don't [51:45] understand it. [51:46] >> And yeah, it's um you do such a good job [51:50] at I was telling you this off camera [51:51] that like when I uh was first in age [51:53] like I still like oh history, I don't [51:55] care so much for history is a little [51:56] boring for me in school but the way you [51:58] deliver all of this first of all you [52:00] it's the delivery is amazing but your [52:02] perspective and how you tie so many [52:04] things together and the lessons that are [52:05] learned it's just really really [52:07] incredible. So thank you and um [52:10] shout out to everyone watching. Go ahead [52:12] and subscribe to his YouTube channel. If [52:13] you're listening to this on Spotify go [52:16] look at look at his his Spotify channel, [52:18] subscribe, find an episode that makes [52:20] sense for you. If you don't have one of [52:21] his books in your home yet, buy it. It's [52:23] good you can get it on Amazon and some [52:25] stores or on his website. Rabbi [52:27] Kinsbruner, I cannot thank you enough. [52:28] Thank you so much for doing this. [52:29] >> Thank you very much. [52:31] >> If you made it this far, first off [52:33] comment the word brilliant. Also, go [52:35] check out Rabbi Kinsbruner's website [52:37] linked down below. We only scratched the [52:39] surface. Thanks again to Wheel's Lease, [52:42] Kol HaKavod, BF Design, Primal Crisp, [52:45] and Qualified Protein. Go check all of [52:47] them out. Now, this is my takeaway. No [52:49] matter how hard we try to please the [52:50] world, there will always be people who [52:52] hate us simply because we are the Jews, [52:55] the Yidden. So, instead of shrinking [52:56] ourselves for their approval, let's [52:58] stand taller for Hashem. Be Jewish, be [53:00] proud of it, do another mitzvah, learn [53:02] more Torah, and never be embarrassed to [53:03] grow. If the world is going to judge us [53:05] anyway, let's live a life that makes [53:07] Hashem proud to call us his people. [53:09] Remember, inspiration's everywhere. [53:11] L'Chaim. [53:13] >> Living L'Chaim.
