Transcript [00:00] All right, folks. Elisha Flasher here. [00:01] I'm with my man, Shilo. He just made [00:04] Aliyah, immigrated to the land of [00:06] Israel, and he was excited to see me, [00:08] but I'm excited to see him because he's [00:10] coming back to the good land. Look [00:12] behind me right now. [00:13] This is an event for Anglo immigrants to [00:17] the land of Israel, and especially to [00:20] Gush Etzion, Judea, right next to [00:22] Bethlehem, [00:23] and the beautiful town of Efrat. And [00:26] today we're having a little event [00:27] recognizing the new immigrants of just [00:30] this year. Not of last year, nor the [00:33] year before, and we have about 40% [00:34] Anglos, immigrants from the great [00:36] country of America coming to the land of [00:38] Israel going up. [00:40] Even from America, you're still going up [00:42] to the Holy Land, the land of Israel. [00:44] Shilo, tell me a little bit about [00:46] yourself. What are you doing here, and [00:49] why were you so excited to see me? [00:50] What's the deal with that? [00:51] >> Yeah, so I've been watching your stuff, [00:52] Elisha, for a while, and it's pretty [00:54] awesome. So, I just some of the most [00:56] exciting things for me to look forward [00:58] to were to meet people who are [01:00] advocating for Aliyah to bring the Jews [01:02] back, and I know that's Elisha's heart. [01:03] It's your It's your heart and soul. Um a [01:05] couple other guys, shout out to Michael [01:07] Brod. You've been very inspirational, [01:09] and I came for the Geula, but I'm [01:11] staying for the people. It's been [01:13] amazing so far. We got to go. [01:14] >> that line? Is that like a Is that like a [01:17] That sounded like a like a Neil [01:19] Armstrong type thing. Like, I came for [01:21] the Geula, I'm staying for the people. [01:22] Is that right? [01:23] >> of it while you were talking because I [01:24] wanted to say when we arrived, okay, on [01:27] our door were pictures from all the kids [01:29] in our building and in our neighborhood [01:31] saying welcome. People showed up and [01:33] helped us with our 15 suitcases into our [01:35] apartment. Showed up with cookies, but [01:37] also realized their kids were [01:38] tantruming, and they were like, "Hey, [01:40] take this. We're going to bounce. My [01:41] name's Yoni. If you need anything, I'm [01:43] upstairs." Six families came, and this [01:45] was 10:30, 11:00 at night. We couldn't [01:47] have asked for a warmer welcome. We're [01:49] loving it. [01:49] >> Unbelievable. [01:51] Dude, that's such a great story. And, [01:53] you know, listen, the first year is [01:55] hard. You're dealing with like laundry [01:57] machine issues and and setting up bank [02:00] account issues. And in Israeli banks, [02:02] they make you sign like a thousand [02:03] pieces of paper. They're like They're [02:05] like initial here, initial here, initial [02:06] here, and you have no idea what you're [02:07] doing. And there's a lot of tricky [02:08] stuff, but you're feeling the warmth [02:10] here [02:11] in what we call soft landing. [02:13] Uh which is the idea that, you know, the [02:16] the the people that came before you, [02:18] they don't look down on you. They They [02:19] They actually throw out a a life a life [02:22] raft and a rope and say a ladder and [02:25] come say come up to the good land. And [02:27] that's such a good a merit [02:29] uh for us to help one another. [02:31] Tell me about the situation in America [02:33] where you came from. [02:35] >> Yeah. We came from Stony Point near [02:37] Monsey. We had a nice house, 4,000 [02:39] square feet, over half an acre property. [02:41] We moved to an apartment the size of my [02:43] basement and I'm honestly we're happier. [02:45] We love it. We appreciate every inch of [02:47] it. We have a little garden and it's [02:49] incredible and I don't miss [02:51] the extra space and the more privacy and [02:54] the bigger house and the kitchen we put [02:56] in last year. [02:57] It's fine. We're good. [02:58] >> Can Can I tell you something, Shilo? [02:59] >> Yes. [03:00] >> It's actually really okay to miss that [03:02] stuff. I'll explain to you what I mean. [03:04] When you miss that stuff [03:06] and you're like [03:07] the things that you just enumerated, and [03:09] you just say [03:11] but I gave it up because that's my [03:12] korban. That's my sacrifice. [03:15] And it's not like I don't care about [03:16] that stuff. I enjoyed the material [03:18] comforts. I'm a human being and I gave [03:20] it up for God. I gave it up for the [03:22] redemption. [03:23] >> Yeah. There are things I gave up. I'm a [03:25] personal trainer. I had a thriving [03:26] business in Monsey, thank God. My wife [03:28] has a great job. She does marketing for [03:30] a law firm. We are starting from [03:31] scratch. [03:32] >> She can't do She can't do that marketing [03:34] from here? [03:34] >> she does in-person marketing. So yeah, [03:36] so we're we're going to like we're here [03:37] to figure it out, you know, we put aside [03:38] some savings, but there are things that [03:40] were harder and things that were easier [03:41] to leave for me. For other people, it's [03:43] definitely going to take more of an [03:44] adjustment and uh for us it's definitely [03:46] a great landing place for the right [03:48] people if it's your fit. I I recommend [03:50] it. It's amazing. [03:51] >> You're here five days, bro. [03:53] >> I'm here 5 days and already [laughter] [03:54] cuz some people have told me they got [03:56] here and they looked in their apartment [03:57] and empty and no beds and cried. I had [04:00] the opposite. So like thank God. It's [04:02] been good. I think the the [04:04] reception team is getting better here. [04:06] >> Okay, what about personal training? Are [04:07] you going to keep going with that? [04:08] >> Yeah, I'm going to keep going. I'm only [04:09] here 4 days. I'm going to start kind of [04:11] feeling it out. I spoke to a few [04:12] trainers in the neighborhood who are [04:13] more than happy to show me the ropes, [04:15] show me their gyms and tell me about [04:17] their their businesses. [04:18] >> Jerry? [04:19] >> Uh Jerry, I've been in touch with. [04:20] >> Did you meet Jerry Heiman? [04:22] >> The the rebbe the rebbe our rebbe of [04:23] training. [04:24] >> Yeah. [04:24] >> Jerry's awesome. [04:26] >> We're meeting tomorrow at 11. [04:26] >> Jerry, I I I train with Jerry. [04:28] >> Nice. Okay. [04:28] >> Yeah, I train with Jerry once a week. I [04:30] wish I could do twice a week. [04:31] >> Amazing. [04:32] >> Yeah, Jerry's great. [04:32] >> Once a week Sheila, once a week Jerry. [04:34] >> Yeah, okay. Yeah, listen, it could [04:36] happen. I love it. I love training. I [04:37] love actually a personal trainer. I [04:39] think that people, you know, they we [04:41] need that. We we need sometimes somebody [04:42] to motivate us and to get us going to [04:44] make us, you know, work out to our [04:46] potential. And that's what I try to do [04:49] in terms of of immigration to land and [04:51] strengthening our land, which is to get [04:52] people excited. It's I'm also in [04:54] personal training, you know? It's just [04:56] not in [04:57] physical stuff as much. [04:59] Although, you know, [05:01] I could do some stuff. [05:02] >> Yeah, I believe [laughter] it. [05:03] Yeah, we actually were inspired to make [05:05] our own channel. So we made a YouTube [05:07] channel Leaf House Head Home to Eretz [05:09] Yisrael. And my wife made an Instagram [05:12] and we're kind of chronicling our [05:13] journey and [05:14] >> That's a kiddush Hashem. That's a [05:15] sanctification God's name. That's so [05:16] great. [05:17] >> Yeah. [05:17] >> Show them the journey. And I want to say [05:19] something to you, Shilo. Is that your [05:21] given name, Shilo? [05:22] >> Yeah. [05:23] >> Nice. [05:23] >> Yaakov David Shilo. [05:24] >> Ah, your parents already prepared you. [05:26] >> They did. [05:26] >> Um how are they, by the way? [05:29] >> Uh my mom wants to make aliyah, so she's [05:31] coming to visit on 2 days and my brother [05:33] also. We kind of put the seed and then [05:36] watered it and that did not take long. [05:38] >> Well, it's not just seed. It's you're [05:39] here. You're in the land and they're [05:41] going to miss you and that's going to [05:42] bring them. That's going to connect [05:43] them. [05:44] And that's that's actually the magic of [05:45] aliyah. It makes more aliyah. [05:47] Immigration land, and you strengthen the [05:49] whole land. You know, this place is [05:50] supposed to strengthen you on the one [05:51] hand, strengthen your kids, make them [05:53] more Jewish, but you bring a lot of [05:54] strength as well. You know, you bring [05:56] the goodness of the diaspora. We bring a [05:58] lot with us. It's like we bring a [05:59] treasure with us. All right, so that's [06:01] really great. Oh, and I wanted to say [06:02] something to you. When you chronicle [06:03] stuff, don't just chronicle the the [06:06] good. [06:07] Chronicle the challenges, you know? I [06:09] have found that when you show people [06:12] also the challenges and how you face [06:14] them and how you deal with them, [06:16] uh that's the drama and that's the [06:18] overcoming and that's the reality of it. [06:20] >> Yeah. [06:21] >> Uh there is a reality. It's not always [06:23] simple. [06:23] >> 100%. Aliyah was the single most [06:25] difficult thing that I ever did. For me, [06:27] not on an emotional level, on a [06:29] practical level. There was a lot of [06:30] legwork, selling a house, finding a [06:32] house, selling your cars, finding a car. [06:34] It was a lot. So, definitely there's [06:36] that, but my passion was really strong. [06:38] So, a lot of the other stuff that [06:39] sometimes gets to people didn't. So, my [06:41] wife had one perspective where it was [06:43] super hard for her for certain things, [06:45] and for me it wasn't, but I had to, you [06:47] know, field her questions and her [06:49] complaints. But we're here, and [06:50] honestly, me and my family, like we [06:52] couldn't be happier, so. [06:53] >> Beautiful. You know, husbands and wives, [06:55] we strengthen we strengthen one another. [06:57] Olim, immigrants, we strengthen one [06:59] another. And the land of Israel [07:00] strengthens the Jewish people. And it's [07:02] really really happening. And you're here [07:04] at a great time. You're also here to [07:06] vote. And I'm going to ask for your vote [07:07] in a few months. So, I'm psyched about [07:09] that. [07:11] Uh and uh together we're going to be [07:12] strong. And the township of Efrat uh is [07:15] welcoming you in uh to this good land. [07:18] >> Amazing. [07:18] >> Uh and uh you know, Katz and the [07:21] whole thing, it's all here for you. [07:22] Jerry and his awesome gym is here for [07:24] you. All right, uh to help you become [07:26] the the awesome trainer. You're going to [07:28] help a lot of other people. And I have a [07:29] lot of faith and confidence. And let's [07:31] pray together. We're in the we're in the [07:32] month of prayer. Let's pray for the [07:34] continued redemption. Let's pray that it [07:36] that it continues to to to happen. [07:39] Uh that whatever anti-Semitism we feel, [07:42] we'll recognize that it's really God's [07:43] love that's propelling us forward back [07:45] to the land of Israel. And just really [07:48] strength, strength physical, strength [07:50] spiritual. Here's your kid, look. [07:52] >> Ah, yes. [07:52] >> Amen. All right. [07:54] >> Okay. [07:54] >> Shilo, thank you. Who's this? [07:56] >> This is Leora. Leora, say hi. [07:57] >> Hi Leora. [07:58] >> Yay. [07:59] >> Leora, welcome home. Welcome to the land [08:01] of Israel. [08:02] >> Yes. [08:02] >> So thank you [08:03] for coming home. [08:04] >> And don't forget, leave house, head home [08:06] to Eretz Israel. [08:07] >> Okay, that's your new that's your new [08:10] YouTube page? [08:10] >> page. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [08:11] >> And for me, it's buildisrael.com. That's [08:14] how people can support. buildisrael.com [08:16] or buymeacoffee.com/yeshai. [08:19] That way we build the land of Israel [08:20] together. Shilo and Leora, THANK YOU SO [08:23] MUCH. [08:23] >> OF COURSE, our pleasure. Thank you so [08:25] >> you. God bless you and God bless you [08:26] folks wherever you are. Come on home and [08:28] shalom.
