Transcript [00:00] Hey everyone, things are escalating in a [00:02] very serious way in Yemen. I reported on [00:06] this on this channel, what was it about [00:08] a week or two ago? We went through what [00:10] was going on down there between the [00:12] Houthis and the government forces that [00:14] that are backed by the Saudis and things [00:17] have only been escalating more and more [00:19] and especially in the last two days we [00:21] have seen this turn into a fullblown war [00:25] and considering what's going on with [00:27] Iran who backs the Houthis and what's [00:30] happening on the ground as I'm going to [00:31] lay it out we might be seeing a real [00:33] change in Yemen that could really be [00:36] pushing the Houthis back and even [00:38] leading them ultimately toward towards [00:39] defeat. We're going to get into all of [00:41] that right now in this video. So, let's [00:44] hit it. Let's go straight to the [00:45] headlines. Yemen government says [00:47] decision made to retake Houthi held [00:51] Sana. This is the big headline from [00:54] today. And this is very big news. Uh [00:57] we'll we'll explain everything with maps [00:59] and everything else. Yemen's [01:01] internationally recognized government [01:02] said on Monday, well was reported today [01:06] that it had decided to retake the [01:08] capital Sana from the Iran aligned [01:10] Houthi group as government forces [01:12] reported advances on four fronts. And [01:16] the United Nations warned that renewed [01:18] fighting could spiral into full-scale [01:19] war. Of course it will. Yemen army [01:22] spokesman Majid al-Nusali also said that [01:24] the recapture of Sana was the [01:26] government's stated objective. From [01:29] today we declare that our goal is clear [01:30] and unequivocal to liberate Yemen from [01:32] the grip of the terrorist Houthi [01:34] militias and restore Sana as a capital [01:37] for all Yemenes. Nali wrote on X [01:42] and then it quotes um presidential [01:45] leadership council chairman. That's the [01:47] fancy name for the for the head of the [01:49] head of state of Yemen. He usually lives [01:51] in exile in Saudi Arabia. [01:54] Alimi praised the role of the air force [01:56] and drones in supporting ground forces [01:58] and said the latest advances show [02:00] government troops had regained the [02:02] initiative after years in which front [02:05] lines had remained largely static. [02:07] Several fronts have also seen renewed [02:09] clashes since July particularly in Tis [02:12] Alho and Alba accompanied by air strikes [02:15] against Houthi positions. Now Tis is [02:18] very important. And if you watched my [02:20] last video about Yemen, I explained that [02:23] Tahis is the city that is extremely [02:27] strategically important because it also [02:29] it first of all sits on a high ground, [02:31] but it also has most of the of the [02:34] professional upper middle class. It [02:36] whatever to whatever extent there's a [02:38] middle class, an educated class in [02:40] Yemen, it's the cultural center of [02:42] Yemen. And it's also it it's seizing [02:47] Tais by by the Houthis would really mean [02:50] that Yemen has fallen and the Houthis [02:53] were making advances there and now the [02:54] government forces have been pushing [02:56] back. In that last video I talked about [02:57] Tes and the importance of it. The [02:59] government's forces on four [03:01] geographically distinct fronts point to [03:02] an effort to increase pressure on the [03:05] Houthis across multiple axes. And we'll [03:08] look at all this on a map in a moment. [03:10] Alo [03:11] so these are the four places. Tiz, Ala, [03:14] Al-Ba, and then we're going to get to [03:16] Houdeta in a moment. Okay, so let's [03:18] start. Let's do them in order. Ala is [03:20] strategically important in northern [03:22] Yemen. Let's take a look at Ala on the [03:24] map. Here's the map of Yemen. [03:27] Okay, and Ala is right up here. This is [03:30] Ala. And then that's fascinating that [03:32] they've made advances up there because [03:34] generally the northern the northwestern [03:37] part of Yemen is all big-time Houthi [03:40] territory. Here's Sana. And the whole [03:42] issue of Sana that this article opened [03:44] with is that Sana is the capital city of [03:46] Yemen, but it's been it's been under [03:49] Houthi control for like over a decade. [03:52] So the the the Yemeni government doesn't [03:55] even sit in its own capital. That's why [03:57] they're in exile in Saudi Arabia most of [03:59] the time. Uh and and now we see that the [04:04] government forces are hitting them. This [04:06] is all everything on this map, all the [04:08] different colors. The colors are [04:09] different to help me keep track of the [04:10] different articles that I'm quoting [04:11] from. But these are all places where the [04:13] government has made advances. So aloof [04:16] is very important. And what is what does [04:17] it say here? Ala is strategically [04:19] important in northern Yemen. Taiz is the [04:22] key political and geographical [04:24] battleground because it's really the [04:26] political center of of Yemen. That's and [04:29] is all the way down here. And then we [04:32] have sorry [04:34] um [04:36] Al Huda [04:40] gives the fighting a direct connection [04:42] to the Red Sea coast. So that's another [04:43] location where the government forces [04:45] have made advances. And this is huge [04:47] because Huda is you might if you've been [04:50] following the whole Houthi issue for [04:52] years, you might know the name Huda [04:54] because Huda is the port city of the [04:58] Houthis. All the Houthi weapons come [05:01] into that port. That's that is the [05:02] Houthi controlled port city when the [05:05] Israelis were hitting the Houthis really [05:07] hard. If you go back to earlier times in [05:09] the in the war with Israel where the [05:10] Houthis were firing ballistic missiles [05:12] at Israel and Israel was was hammering [05:14] the Houthis really hard. The main focus [05:16] of the Israeli air strikes was Huda. [05:20] Major headquarters of Houthis. Again, [05:22] that's their that's their uh their main [05:24] port. The Americans also were hitting [05:26] Huda. And that the government is going [05:28] to retake Huda and if they're going to [05:30] be taking Alja up here and then they're [05:32] going to advance on Sana and take it [05:34] back, it's kind of the end of Houthi [05:36] rule in northwestern Yemen. So this is a [05:38] very big development and uh and Al-Qaeda [05:42] occupies a central position affecting [05:44] movement and supply routes. Let me [05:46] explain that one. So Alba is is here and [05:51] this isn't really in the area that we [05:53] would consider part of Houthi controlled [05:55] area but the Houthis have been trying to [05:57] you to cut off eastern Yemen from Mocha [06:01] which is the main port city uh uh of uh [06:05] of the Yemeni government. So Al-Ba has [06:08] also become a flash point. So the [06:10] government is reporting major advances [06:12] in all of these areas. The declaration [06:15] on Sana, however, raises the scale of [06:17] the military challenge considerably. [06:20] Retaking the capital would require [06:22] advances across multiple fronts, [06:25] sustained supply lines, and coordination [06:27] among the various military and political [06:29] forces opposed to the Houthis. Now, [06:30] what's the various military and [06:32] political forces? Well, the Yemen army, [06:35] the army that is that is fighting the [06:37] Houthis is not one army. It's a [06:39] coalition of a number of different [06:40] militias that are all allied against the [06:44] Houthis and are basically the [06:45] governmentbacked forces. So, they all [06:47] have to cooperate. They got to get their [06:49] supply lines straight. And it's going to [06:51] it's a major it's a major initiative. [06:53] And for the government to announce that [06:55] we're going to take SANA, no one wants [06:56] to announce an objective that they're [06:58] going to fail at. This is huge. The [07:00] government would also need to [07:02] consolidate areas captured during the [07:04] latest operations to prevent the Houthis [07:06] from exploiting extended supply lines or [07:08] redeploying forces to threaten fronts. [07:11] UN special envoy. Now, here's where it [07:13] gets [07:15] I'm throwing in this part of the story. [07:17] It's not really part of the what's going [07:19] on between the Houthis and the Yemeni [07:22] forces. And we're going to talk about [07:23] the Saudis very soon because they play a [07:25] major role here that's coming in this [07:27] video. But I wanted to throw in what the [07:29] UN is saying just to remind us about how [07:32] useless and misguided these UN people [07:36] are. Here we go. UN special envoy for [07:39] Yemen, Hans Grunberg, called the waring [07:42] called on the waring parties on Monday [07:44] to halt hostilities and exercise maximum [07:47] restraint, warning that the latest [07:48] escalation could develop into full-scale [07:50] war. First of all, buddy, it is [07:52] developing into full-scale war. Second [07:54] of all, this is the same playbook over [07:57] and over again. It's the same playbook [07:58] we have in Israel. [08:01] Why do we want to deescalate if the [08:03] government forces are being are [08:05] advancing pushing back the Houthis [08:07] who've been disrupting global shipping [08:09] who've been attacking ships in the [08:10] Babalamand strait who are you know who [08:14] are who are it was a terrorist entity. [08:16] It's not like the Yemeni government is [08:18] any picnic. It's not like they love us. [08:20] But why do you want to deescalate? [08:23] Why don't we want to defeat the Houthis? [08:25] What do these UN guys want? I'm calling [08:27] on all parties to just calm down. Let [08:29] the Houthis stay where they are and let [08:31] the Yemeni government stay where it is. [08:33] Why? We don't want Yemen to liberate [08:36] itself from this Iranbacked terrorist [08:38] organization that is that controls its [08:40] capital city and terrorizes the world. [08:43] Why not? They're always looking for [08:46] deescalation. And this has become a [08:48] theme that I've talked about a lot. [08:49] These people who call for deescalation [08:51] are the ones who are guaranteeing [08:54] forever wars and forever conflict [08:56] because they're somehow devoted to the [08:59] idea that we have to not destroy any bad [09:01] actors. In any event, Grimberg described [09:05] the recent developments as deeply [09:07] troubling, citing reports of civilian [09:09] deaths and injuries, displacement, and [09:11] damage to civilian infrastructure. [09:12] That's what happens when you're at war. [09:14] It doesn't mean you don't fight wars. He [09:16] warned that a return to sustained [09:17] large-scale fighting would have severe [09:19] consequences for civilians. Yes, it [09:21] will. And make an already difficult [09:23] political settlement even harder to [09:25] achieve. Why do we want a political [09:27] settlement with the Houthis? Yemenes [09:29] demand I mean we I don't really have [09:31] skin in the game, but I kind of we all [09:33] should because we want to get rid of the [09:34] Houthis whatever come if the Yemen [09:36] government takes control [09:39] again. They don't love us, but they're [09:41] not going to be attacking global [09:42] shipping. They're not going to be firing [09:44] missiles at Israel. They're not going to [09:46] be bombing the Saudis. [09:49] We want to make war on the Houthis. It's [09:52] the only way to get rid of them. Yemen [09:54] demands for security, functioning [09:55] institutions, and a future beyond [09:57] conflict require a credible political [09:59] path capable of addressing the political [10:01] security and economic issues at the core [10:04] of the conflict. Grumbling said, "You [10:05] know what else they require? Yemen's [10:06] demand for security and functioning [10:08] institutions and a future beyond [10:10] conflict require getting rid of the [10:12] Houthis." He called for full use of [10:14] existing communication channels, [10:16] including the UNbacked military [10:18] coordination committee. These committees [10:20] are useless. They're as useless as [10:21] anything the UN does, and urged all [10:24] sides to comply with their obligations [10:26] under international humanitarian law and [10:28] protect civilians and civilian [10:29] infrastructure. This is the role of the [10:31] UN. It's to make statements like this. [10:34] I'm sorry, I'm ranting. The Houthis have [10:37] controlled Sana and several other cities [10:39] since September 2014. [10:42] While the internationally recognized [10:44] government and allied forces control [10:46] large parts of southern, eastern, and [10:48] western Yemen, the Houthis control the [10:50] capital city. Anyway, but we might be [10:53] seeing the end of that. There's serious [10:54] advances happening by the Yemeni [10:57] government forces. Now, before I go on, [10:59] I want to tell you about a very exciting [11:02] program that we are about to uh that [11:06] we're just unveiling now. All right, back to [13:32] Yemen and let's pull up our next uh our [13:35] next news item here. Here we go. So, the [13:37] next news item, this is from Ashark [13:39] Alsat. Uh Yemen army pursues Houthis [13:43] southeast of Huda. So, this is all part [13:45] of the same escalation story, but this [13:47] this news item included some details [13:49] that I didn't see in the other one. This [13:51] is also uh from well, this is from [13:53] yesterday. Also, you know, yesterday, [13:55] today, all these news stories are from [13:56] now. The escalation by Houthi group on [13:58] Yemen's west coast in Taes entered its [14:01] fourth day on Sunday as government [14:03] forces shifted from containing the [14:05] attack to pursuing the group's [14:07] operatives in southeastern Huda [14:10] following the complete liberation of the [14:12] Hayes district. Hayes is down here. This [14:14] is Hayes. So they had the complete [14:17] liberation of this district. This was [14:19] for a long time under Houthi control. As [14:21] I mentioned, Huda is the Houthi port and [14:24] the government has now taken full [14:25] control of Hayes. No, and remember they [14:28] they're they're attack they also made [14:30] advances up here in Alja and they are [14:33] talking about [14:36] attack you know conquering Sana and that [14:38] means that the government forces are [14:40] moving north and northwest and uh you [14:43] know really closing in on the Houthis. [14:45] So this is all good news. Field sources [14:47] say the Yemeni armed forces have [14:49] captured dozens of Houthis during the [14:52] fighting. Many are underage [14:54] underage. The forces also continue to [14:56] advance north of Hayes toward the [14:59] Algarah district. The Algarah district. [15:03] Um [15:05] oh I didn't put it on the map here. [15:07] Algari is right around here. [15:10] Uh it's I think it's on here as Aljarah, [15:13] but let's pull it up here. [15:17] Uh, here it is. The Algeri district. You [15:20] can see me in action here. Let's pull [15:22] back the C. Let's pull this back now. [15:24] And the So, that's right there between [15:27] Hayes and and Aluda. So, they're moving. [15:30] You see what direction they're moving [15:32] north. They're moving north from Taes, [15:36] uh, Hayes, Al Jarah. They're moving up [15:39] there. And we'll we'll understand the [15:41] importance of that in a moment. The [15:42] military is also assessing its positions [15:44] on the fronts in western Tais especially [15:47] al-Qaeda where the Houthi advance is [15:49] threatening to cut the main supply route [15:51] between Tais and Almoka cities. You see [15:54] Mocha is which is right here is the is a [15:57] is an important port. Aden is also a [15:59] very important port but Mocha is a very [16:01] important port and there are supply [16:02] chains uh the supply lines that run from [16:05] Mocha to Tais and uh and the Houthis are [16:09] trying to disrupt those they're trying [16:12] to cut off those supply lines. Now about [16:15] Algari or Jerahi the government advance [16:17] in Algeray is significant because [16:19] capturing the district will pave the way [16:20] for the forces to move on Huti held [16:23] Houda and cut the route connecting the [16:25] province with Eb and the Tiama regions. [16:28] Let me explain that. EB is here. IB is a [16:32] city here. The and the uh this other [16:35] region mentioned the U the Tama region [16:39] is all the way up north. Okay. Um [16:44] this black line is the Saudi border. [16:46] Tahama is up here. It's right near the [16:49] the Saudi border. Which means if if the [16:52] government forces can can make further [16:54] advances here, they can cut off the uh [16:58] the supply lines from the northern from [17:01] the northern coast to IB. IB is a city [17:05] that is still held by the Houthis. And [17:07] that's what they're trying to do. [17:07] They're trying to cut off the supply [17:09] chains of the Houthis. The Houthis have [17:11] been regrouping to counter the [17:13] government advance from Hayes towards [17:14] southeastern Huda, said the field [17:16] sources. The forces have made advances [17:18] in the Hyan front in southeastern Tais [17:21] on Saturday. The area overlooks Houthi [17:23] supply routes leading to northwestern [17:26] Lajian southern Tais. Okay. In other [17:28] words, that's that's that's what I [17:30] explained there. Good. So, this is all [17:33] good news. The government is making [17:34] advances. Houthis say seven killed. Now, [17:37] let's bring in the Saudis. The Houthis [17:39] say, this is from yesterday, that seven [17:41] were killed in the Saudi strike on Yemen [17:43] prison as Baba battle intensifies. Up [17:46] until now in the video, I've been [17:47] talking about the Houthis uh battling [17:51] government forces. This which is as I [17:54] said an amalgam of various militias that [17:56] are fighting the Houthis, but the Saudis [17:59] are also directly involved in this [18:00] fight. So it's actually Yemeni [18:02] government forces and the Saudis [18:04] together. [18:07] Yemen's Iranbacked Houthis on Monday [18:09] accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out air [18:11] strikes around the country, including [18:14] the deadly bombardment of a prison as [18:16] the rebels pressed an offensive to seize [18:18] territory near the Babamandab Strait. [18:21] Saba news agency, which is affiliated [18:23] with the Houthi movement, reported seven [18:25] people were killed by Saudi air strikes [18:27] on the prison in Alhazam in the north of [18:30] Yemen, including one child visiting the [18:32] facility. Okay, that's all the way up [18:35] here. Here's Alhazam. It's all the way [18:37] up here in the north. [18:39] Okay, let's take a look at the map. [18:41] Here's Al-Hazam in the north. So, that's [18:43] where the prison is that was hit by the [18:45] Saudis. [18:48] Um, further footage shared by the Houthi [18:51] showed what they said was the aftermath [18:53] of a missile strike by the group on [18:55] trucks carrying military equipment from [18:58] Saudi Arabia to the Alwadia military [19:01] camp in Yemen's Hadrama Hadrama [19:03] province. So the Saudis were striking [19:08] u military equipment that was being [19:11] transferred to the Houthis that had come [19:13] across their border. Most of the strikes [19:15] were in Al-Qaeda and Marib targeting [19:18] strategic positions, gatherings and [19:20] camps under Houthi control, the source [19:22] said on condition of anonymity. So [19:24] where's Al-Qaeda and Marib? Uh so here's [19:27] Marib and here is uh and here's Al-Ba, [19:32] right? Al-Qaeda, we already talked about [19:34] it's down here. So, Al-Ba and Marib, [19:37] these are camps where the Houthis, you [19:39] know, because the Houthis had pretty [19:40] much uh controlled not just the [19:43] northwest, but they were all the way [19:45] down into this area here. And now the [19:49] government forces uh and the Saudis [19:51] together are really squeezing them out. [19:53] So, the uh so MB, we talked about Maribb [19:56] in a previous video, very important [19:58] city. There was lots of heavy fighting [19:59] there a few weeks ago and and the Saudis [20:03] are pushing back the Houthis there as [20:06] well. That's it for that story. Now, the [20:09] Houthis retaliated. The Houthis [20:11] retaliated and this is from today. This [20:13] is from a few hours ago. Houthi attacks [20:15] disrupt Saudi oil facilities and wound [20:17] more than 70. A wave of Houthi attacks [20:20] on Saudi Arabia Tuesday this morning, [20:22] wounded more than 70 people and ignited [20:24] fires at several oil facilities and [20:26] utilities in the kingdom's southern [20:28] region, authorities said, a major [20:30] escalation in the renewed conflict [20:32] between an important US ally and the [20:34] Iranianbacked rebels in Yemen. The [20:37] attacks early Tuesday hit civilian and [20:40] economic facilities in the Saudi cities [20:41] of Aba Jazan Najran Kamis Musher said [20:45] Major General Turkey al-Mali a spokesman [20:47] for the Saudiled coalition fighting in [20:50] Yemen. Notice what they call it in this [20:51] piece. The Saudiled coalition fighting [20:54] in Yemen. Okay, there is close [20:56] coordination between the Saudi [20:58] government, the Saudi military and this [21:00] government coalition in Yemen that's [21:02] fighting the Houthis. Al- Mali said the [21:04] attacks wounded 73 people, including [21:06] women and children. He didn't provide [21:08] further details. The attacks ignited [21:10] fires at several oil facilities and [21:12] utilities in Saudi Arabia's southern [21:14] region. The kingdom's energy ministry [21:17] said in a statement operations at the [21:19] oil facilities and utilities were [21:21] temporarily suspended. It said [21:24] the southern region. Now, now we get to [21:26] the importance of this. First, let's [21:27] look at it on the map. So the green are [21:31] the sites that the Houthis shelled in [21:33] Saudi Arabia. And if you pull back the [21:35] camera a lot, you can see that this is [21:37] all the southwestern edge of Saudi [21:40] Arabia. Lots of oil facilities there. [21:43] Okay. And and now let's get a little [21:45] more detail on this. The southern region [21:48] houses major oil facilities including a [21:50] 400,000 barrel per day oil refiner [21:53] refinery in Jazan. Jazan's right here. [21:56] Okay. right on the coast, which is one [21:59] of Saudi Arabia's largest. The Houthis [22:01] had previously attacked the Abha [22:03] airport. Al- Mali called the attacks a [22:05] serious escalation and a flagrant [22:07] violation of the kingdom's sovereignty [22:09] and a direct threat to the security and [22:11] safety of it of the of its citizens and [22:13] residents. He vowed retaliation, saying [22:16] the Saudi led coalition will take all [22:18] necessary operational measures to deter [22:20] the terrorist Houthi militia with utmost [22:22] resolve. And this is all from today. So, [22:24] the retaliation is still yet to come. [22:26] That's why I'm saying I started this [22:27] video by saying we are heading this is [22:29] an allout war. [22:31] Meaning between yesterday and today we [22:33] have the Saudis carrying out something [22:35] like 120 air strikes on Houthi positions [22:39] and the Houthis shelling these Saudi uh [22:43] these Saudi positions. He said they [22:45] attacked Jazan City for primary and [22:47] downstream industries, a major [22:49] industrial and logistics hub on Saudi [22:51] Arabia's southwestern Red Sea coast. I [22:53] showed it to you. The rebels also [22:55] attacked Aramco facilities in Najan and [22:58] Abha as well as King Khaled air base in [23:01] Kamis Musher. Okay. And that's the four [23:04] sites that I showed you on this map [23:06] here. That's these four sites. Okay. [23:09] This so these are uh this is a major [23:13] escalation and the Saudis are not going [23:15] to take it lying down. Saudi Arabia this [23:18] New York Times from today. Saudi Arabia [23:20] vows retaliation after Houthi attacks [23:23] injured dozens. [23:25] And uh yeah, that's it. And and here you [23:28] see this is the current state of what [23:31] the Houthis control, the Houthi [23:33] stronghold. Nice little map they gave us [23:35] here. Ahmed Nagi, a senior analyst for [23:39] Yemen at the International Crisis Group, [23:41] said the country was sliding back toward [23:43] largecale war. Deescalation is not [23:46] impossible, he said, but realistically [23:48] it is becoming very difficult. And then [23:51] we have the Yemen spokesman said there [23:52] was there were 121 air strikes by the [23:55] Saudis against the Houthis. But the [23:58] bottom line of this whole story uh of [24:01] this whole video is that the Houthis are [24:06] getting hammered right now by both the [24:08] Saudis and the governmentbacked forces. [24:10] The government backed forces are also [24:11] backed by the Saudis. And if you put [24:13] this in the even bigger context, Iran is [24:16] being so squeezed and can't really send [24:20] weapons and money like they can't they [24:23] can barely pay they can't even pay their [24:24] own people. And meanwhile, is getting [24:28] just destroyed in Lebanon. They lost the [24:30] Ali Taher Ridge. We've been covering [24:31] that and they're on the run now. The [24:33] Israelis are just marching forward and [24:36] just smoking them out, destroying their [24:38] infrastructure up there. And now you see [24:39] what's going on with the Houthis in [24:40] Yemen. If the Saudis can hold this [24:42] Yemeni coalition together and they can [24:44] push back against the Houthis while [24:46] while Iran is still under this blockade [24:48] by the Americans being strangled, we [24:51] could actually see the Iranian proxies [24:54] both in Yemen and Lebanon simultaneously [24:57] being being just decimated. That's the [25:00] real story here, folks. So, I'll keep [25:02] covering this. I'll keep bringing you [25:04] updates on it, but this is, as I said, a [25:06] major escalation going on. There is a [25:09] war happening as we speak right now in [25:11] Yemen. What else is new? God bless. [25:14] Thanks for watching.
